Hi! I'm an ALT on the JET PROGRAM from Scotland. Currently living in Hyogo Prefecture and working at a mid-level high school. On this channel I talk about and give advice on JET, as well as show off what I get up to and where I travel to in Japan (and other parts of Asia on occasion). If you're interested in Japanese and Asian culture, teaching, JET, or even just me as a person, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss any of my weekly videos :)

มุมมอง 6502 ปีที่แล้ว
I performed at a Japanese high school festival!! I also included a compilation of clips at the end from the other parts of the Japanese culture festival held at my school. TO BE CLEAR, I am not under the impression that I'm any ...

hello! are you still doing SOP reviews on patreon?
Hello. I’m sorry, I don’t offer that anymore. It’s been 7 years since my own application and I don’t know how much the process/what JET is looking for has changed so I don’t feel comfortable giving potentially out of date advice. Wish you the best of luck though!!
@@jakubtansey716 i understand, thank you anyways!
This person is not Scottish.
I find it interesting that so many ppl go to Japan to work and do not take the time to try and learn Japanese
I just got the email that I'll be going in a few months! This has been incredibly helpful!
When did you visit? I read somewhere that's best to visit during November, and you seem to have gone on the best day possible with all the clouds in place! Did you check the temperature around the area too?
i've watched many jets do videos like but yours is my favorite. the pop culture referencea alone. i'm gagging
i have heavy anxiety when it comes to jobs. and i just got my first tattoo on my forearm. its like 8inches (20cm). its big, i know, but it means so much to me and i wanted it to be my first and only tattoo. it represents the relationship i have with my little brother that is like a son to me. so i got it for us. i know where i live, tattoos are super accepted. its even ilegal to fire o deny a job opportunity just because someone has piercings or tattoos. i have family working in the government and they are all inked up (MUCH more than me, im talking about neck, hands, full sleeve tatts) when i learned about the JET program, i really wanted to apply since i LOVE teaching. so i was really nervous about my tattoo, seeing these videos and a ton of other people talk about how tattoos arent really a problem for applying really has calmed me down and made me excited to apply (and kind of nervous since its a different country i would be working at, but its the good kind of nervous lol). im happy with my tattoo, a lot of people look at it and say its beautiful (its a nature tattoo, so no cartoons or bands, lettering or anything like that) and has a really nice message, so it isnt anything wierd or offensive. its a representation of the relationship i have built with my young brother over the span of 10 nearly 15 years. i have no problems covering it up with long sleeves, especially since in Mexico we have 30-35C weather with 70-80% humidity and in other states ive been to there has been a weather thats around 40-45C with 90% humidity and, while uncomfortable, i can handle it with a long sleeved shirt and black attire,so i suppose Japan is just the same in terms of weather. thanks a lot for the video.
This REALLY helped, I know this video is older but I just was accepted for this year and I leave in August, thank you for the video!!
I’m in the same boat!! Best of luck to the both of us :)
Same here~ so excited
@@myrahcontento9496 let’s goooo definitely stoked for it!!

Aw thank you man :)
I'm doing my part 👍👍 good luck mate!
Thanks man ☺️☺️
I'm sold! I'll have 10 JET programs please 🌄
❤️❤️❤️
Good luck! Honestly, though, as I watched I thought JET had already chosen your video for their promotion and recruitment campaign! 🔥
That’s really kind, thank you ☺️
Great video! Good luck!
Thanks so much ☺️
I had my interview today. I was watching this preemptively 😅
Best of luck to you man!
Omg this video is amazing!!!!!!
Thanks Autumn ☺️
This makes me wanna do JET…. Again.
Let’s re-applying! 😍

I’m tearing up 🥹
🥺🥺🥺🥺
I haven't posted in a hot minute! I always meant to make one last video after moving back to the UK, but I just got too busy. I thought this contest was a great opportunity for me to conclude my activity here. Thank you to everyone who's watched and supported my channel during my time on JET and beyond ❤
Wish you the best of luck of with the contest! I’m now a current JET in Tokyo thanks to binging many of your videos during the application process 🥹
That's amazing to hear - Hope you're having the best time!
Preparing for my interview in less than a week. Trying not to stress myself out too much but its a good idea to have a list so long, hopefully nothing will catch me out.
Got my fingers crossed for you!
You wouldn't happen to have worked in Japan on the Jet program with a young American woman whose name may be Sarah. She is a very private asmr-tist on youtube, on her fifth year in the program, long brunette hair, big blue eyes, and a nose ring. She has been MIA on her channel for 9+ months (which isn't like her at all) and her listeners have been deeply worried about her!
I’m sorry I don’t recognise her from the description you’ve given. I wouldn’t worry unless someone who knows her personally hasn’t heard from her. I know from experience TH-cam can be exhausting and it’s not completely unusual for people to just fall off of it.
Hey Jakub! are you still offering personal statement critique/Advice on your Patreon?
thank you Jakub! I've enjoyed watching all of your videos and just finished my (rough) draft of my personal statement! applications open within the month and i am so excited, this video was so helpful !! would you have time to review a statement from your favorite California-ased subscriber? :)
Thank for this video Teacher Jakub. I just subscribed you’re TH-cam channel. May I ask if it’s okay. I just want to ask some help with my Sop I’m an applicant for Jet this 2024 Batch that will be on October. please let me know? Thank you 🙏
This was great to hear Hannah's POV. Thank you for sharing! I liked the format too, it was like friends chatting, not a lecture :D
It is time, Jakub.
this is such a surreal feeling to watch this video, only because i've watched this channel for so long before my application, during and now being on JET. I'm officially flying out this year to go to Hyogo prefecture from the UK, so to know that i'm still kind of taking in your footsteps is so insane to me haha. i hope you had a safe journey back to Scotland, im glad you made your decision based on yourself and how you feel instead of anyone else :)
Just got my second rejection letter with JET two days ago and I can't stop crying about it. I'm feeling really discouraged about it and don't really know what to do now. I still wanna go to Japan but I don't have the money to be doing tourist visas or schooling there.
I think they took off the tattoo segment on the application! Well, it was there at first, but when I was submitting it right before the deadline it was no longer there! It's nice in a way, but I feel like it's something I kind of wish they could know still? Especially since it is a pretty known cultural difference type of topic. I'm waiting to hear back from my interview, but it is still nerve wracking thinking about what I'd have to sort of mentally prepare for as a possible ALT with tattoos...makes it trickier since I don't think I'd have as much of that foreigner advantage since I don't look "foreign" 🥲
How hard is it to get in any idea? I’m planning on applying for next years JET so i can save up before then and get my british citizenship done and passport. It would definitely be a bummer to prepare for a year and not get in lol (does having a masters boost my chances? Lol)
The edits on this have me cracking up 😂😂 loved the channel! Thanks for everything!!
It was on my form for 2022 and how much but I'm shortlisted so it's fine
I just saw that she got accepted! I want to apply this year too!
my apartment just to get it and initial costs was 206k yen....thats not including the fact that its unfurnished today i get my fridge a couple days ago i got my stove and some cooking equipment.....good thing i brought $5k
No doubt: by your singing performance alone, not to mention the years you were on the JET Program, your students learned and they learned for life (in both senses). I look forward to your next Japan video, and I still maintain that I wish you would continue videos of life in Scotland.
Question y & k narita international school a real alt company or is it a scam
Never heard of it tbh
I was kinda surprise to hear puertorrican music
Where do I buy tickets for the tour? 🎉🎶 Btw I got accepted, and moving to Japan in August! Your videos helped me a lot!
Still working on the album ahaha. That's awesome!! You must be so excited :D
Okay I’m not gonna lie! I teared up for you because your kids are amazing and talented
Why I am singing along and doing the dance for Twice!!!! I love Twice!!!! Awwww Jakub!!!! I’m going to miss you making videos!!!!
I can't make the music not bop, Autumn.
lol love this u did great!
Thank you :)
