    Really awesome! That's definitely the definition of a "Macher" as we would like to say in Germany! :D Also, the fact that this thing is going to be open-source is absolutely the right way to go, and I highly commend you for that. Here's a small optimization idea for the next revision: I would suggest utilizing the silkscreen a bit more so that it practically explains itself. I'm not sure how often a repair shop encounters this issue, but if the LEDs already indicate their meanings, the button functions are labeled, the connections are marked, and maybe there's a short 3-step guide on the back, you really only need the board itself without having to look up anything beforehand. Keep up the great work!

      just to quickly summarize this video: Having camera covers installed such as seen in the video, makes your screen prone to breaking. This is due to the cover creating a pressure point on the display, which will cause it to crack/break if some force gets applied like in your bag or shutting it to hastily.

    Saw the "NerdTool One" (IMHO that should be the name, or "NerdTool 1.0" for further revisions down the line, like 1.1 and so on) on Louis channel. I just HAD TO COME HERE and give you props! WELL DONE!!! I would love to see how you developed it, but totally understand that that might be a bit sensitive, so to say.. xD BUT YOU ARE AWESOME for doing this!! The price is a little on the hefty side for a private buyer, but for repair shops the price makes perfect sense, guessing you don't see "normal" customers as your primary customer base... I did read this section though: "we have committed to releasing our source code for public access after reaching a milestone of 350 orders." I see where you are going with that, but it's a bit on the "iiiiiish" side of open source mentality ("pay me and I release the code" feels... not good), but sure, I get that the development probably took a long time and cost out of your repair company. Just listen very carefully to the open source community and you might "get away" with it without any friction. Stuff like above have a way of coming back and biting you in the a**. Look at it this way, its not super hard for a scumbag to clone your project and make a Chinese copy of it selling it for 10% of your price and your project is doomed. IMHO it would be better to just rely on the good will of the community and present it to us (like you did when Louis invited you now). To be honest, I would have donated blindly to it, and I don't even have an apple, and I never have/will. But you kinda force me to buy the item to support you, I will not do that. I see the paypal button, but I also see the price... See what I'm going for here? Apples lawyers probably won't be as impressed as me though. :(

      Same here. Since all that I can see on that board is a microcontroller and the macbook is not actively involved in the calibration process, I would assume it is just a matter of getting hold of the datasheet for the angle sensor. It may have a configuration register to set the config on an integrated EEPROM and that is pretty much it. It is a big assumption but an educated one. If the did it by reverse engineering, I tip my hat to them that is awesome.

    • @S0L4RE
      @S0L4RE 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@urikaufman4258I doubt that there exists publicly a data sheet for Apple’s angle sensor. It’s likely proprietary. My guess is that he did logic analysis and/or firmware dumping and reversed the pairing routine.
