Favorite Picture Books Using Traditional Techniques
มุมมอง 82หลายเดือนก่อน
Here are some of my Favorite Picture Books Using Traditional Techniques. I focused on books that used 2D college and 3D dimensional paper art in picture book illustrations. I'm fascinated by traditional materials and techniques and I spent a couple years in grad school researching how illustrated created their traditional works and what options they used to supply art for their final book. The ...

Currently learning InDesign and ur playlist has been super helpful. Thank you.
It's really nice to see more characters made with mobility aids. Representation is important!
I agree! ❤️
So cute ❤
Thank you!
I love your art it is beautiful
Thank you!
Thank you so much for your very easy to understand videos! I am an abstract artist just trying to figure out how to photograph my paintings and drawings and then make them look good enough for printing. Needless to say, it can be overwhelming. Lighting when you take your photograph, what settings if you scan a drawing, what if there's a smudge on my drawing because I'm left-handed, etc. Yikes! :). I'm also also trying to learn how to take different sections of my large paintings and stitch them together. Thank you for all of your help.
You are most welcome! So glad it was helpful 😊
🫶
Glad you like it. Great book with color scripts!
THANKS.
You are welcome 😊
❤
Thank you!
Thanks for showing the book in detail
You are welcome 😊
You are welcome 😊
Would you share the formula for the fabric template? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find one
Sorry I have to look for the test file I made of it. It will be a while. Currently working on a picture book project and working regular jobs.
@NancyMillerIllustration thank you!! 🤍
Part two?❤
❤
Thank you!
❤ i love it
Thank you!
Yay! You are welcome :)
Hello, Nancy:) - I was looking for help in cleaning up my hand drawn illustrations (for my own book I am working on) and spotted your video. Wow! I am glad I did because you’re a great teacher! And I really love hearing about your journey, which is similar to mine in many ways;) I am looking forward to learning more from you regarding computer illustration techniques & writing tips. Thank you for sharing. Cheers~
You are welcome! I will try and share more in the future. Thank you for the encouragement 😊
I love that you are showing the full process including thinking through errors you encounter. Its much more realistic to the creation process
Thank you so much! I appreciate it. :)
yeah, sticker mule lost my support when they sent a native american group a 'liberal retard' mockup of their shirt instead of the trafficking awareness one they ordered.
I like the rocket ship flip-book gimmick a lot. Thanks for the tip!
Sure no problem. I hope it helps.
This showed up randomly in my feed and I clicked it because I am 48 and wondering if it's too late for me! Very different situation from yours but still it's nice to hear about starting careers from people who are not half my age. 😂
Thank you for the encouragement! It has been a leap of faith!
This genuinely made me very happy. Teaching is the most noble profession there is! I'm glad you chose to share.
Thank you! I always think it is an honor to be a part of a students educational career.
@@NancyMillerIllustration I have a couple of friends that teach pre-K and they're really in it for the love of it. So, thank you for that. You also inspired me a little bit to try creating again myself. Thanks for that, too.
@@shockmethodx I am honored! Have fun creating!
I just clicked on this video because I had to say - you SO do NOT look almost 50. I am absolutely stunned. Just clicked to say that.
Thank you! I wished I was younger trying to have an art career. I feel my age most days 😅
Good luck!!!!
Thank you!
Have a happy Halloween
You too!
How do you make them? They’re so cute!
Thank you! I actually didn't print them myself. I designed a digital file and ordered them from Vista prints. I would like one day to try a cricket and make my own bookmarks and stickers.
Awesome! They're adorable :0
@@pancakeoftheopera2808 Thank you!
Hi, im very interested in buying this book, can you show the index to see which topics are on it, thanks :)
They offer it on the Kindle. You can get a sample and see the index there. Here is the link. www.amazon.com/Words-about-Pictures-Narrative-Childrens/dp/0820312711?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=844309fc-a6cb-4491-aa79-b1111e4f2a20
i did this and messed up
That happens to me alot too. I cut something on accident off. Keep trying! I realized if the pieces are too tiny just leave some white paper and the Photoshop it out 😊
Underatted
Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful ✨ THIS is art.
Thank you so much!
UR SO UNDERRATED WHAT 🤯
Thank you!
@@NancyMillerIllustration You’re welcome 🥳
#Great *work. I have a channel to teach drawing. Please subscribe to it🔔❤️*
This book or the silver way? Which one is better?
I prefer Silversway. I think its because I like the way he explains things.
Which book would you recommend between this one and silver way?
I prefer silver for breaking down steps for character design, but the 3D total publishing is great for variety of character design examples.
💯 *promo sm*
My Windows menu doesn't look like that in PS 2023. There is no Extensions option. Also, there's no form of text support for this extension. There's no way to contact Derrick.
Thank you for letting us know!

Thank you so much!
This is really cool.

This is so great, thank you!

@@NancyMillerIllustration I made my own, and it's really kickstarting the book dummy- making process. I'm gonna share this with my critique group, I'm sure they'll find it super useful too!
@@sarawillia9419 Thanks wonderful! I hope they find it helpful too. Best wishes on your creative journey! 😊
@@NancyMillerIllustration thank you! You as well!
@@sarawillia9419 Much appreciated Sara!

Me too!
What is the name of the person who created the book
Randy Bishop, Sweeney Boo, Meybis Cruz, and Luis Gadea are credited as authors.
this is vey ueful stuff to know thanks Nancy ..
That is beautiful ❤
Thanks I appreciate the kind words 😊
How is that a wramup
I like to do a drawing for fun that has nothing to do with my regular project. 😊
Bro thats the WARMUP?!?!?!
I will take that as a compliment 😊
I'm currently pursuing my low residency MFA in Visual Communication (illustration, graphic design) with Marywood University in Scranton, PA. There's an on campus 2 week intensive every summer, and 5 day study tours that meet in different cities in the fall and spring. It's 60 hours total. About to finish my first year and I like it so far.
Congratulations on your studies! 👏
If I want to refenrece this book on my paper, what Author do I reference? like "Character Design will dictate the visual of a character wich is by itself a product of the world they inhabit (Author Name 2020)" What name do I put in (Author Name 2020)??
If you are referencing the author, then you have multiple authors on the cover listed. You have to include them all in the citation. I hope that helps.
I learned to cite with Turabian. That's what Art History requires. Depends on the institution's requirements for citations. I would ask the instructor for examples.
@@NancyMillerIllustration Thanks!
