Come along for some of my historical costuming adventures. I can usually be found doing anything from 18th century- 1950s in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. I love living history, loud fabric choices and laughing. I'm more interesting in wearing historic clothing than a costume and love meeting new costumers so always say hi!

An Edwardian Stroll through Longwood Gardens, Sewloud style
Awesome quick video, thanks for sharing!
So fun! Thanks for sharing!
So much fun! The lunch car looks quite cozy and cute :)
The railroad here is awesome!! They also do holiday train rides. Its not cheap, but its worth it!
Ooh that sounds pretty magical
This looks so fun!!
What a treacherous journey!
Need a tutorial of doing this hairstyle 😍😍😍
Nearing 40 years doing this, and this was my first glimpse into the "going but not staying" aspect. It's definitely not for me. Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves.
Next time you have to add the yarn into the channels for gathering, just add it into the channel as you're sewing it down, just be sure to secure the ends so they don't pull free in the process! Also, how many yards in total did you end up purchasing of the organdy?
Loved this! Thanks for sharing!
It's always so nice seeing people *do* things in costume. Packing stuff, just walking, dancing... 😸 It was also nice to see so many patterned fichus and different more practical ensembles!
I wanted to go so bad, but I had other things happening that weekend. It's nice to live vicariously through others! (you didn't really just toss that shift, right? XD )
Oh yes you are just as I am.🙃
To trace darts or lines on your fabric, what I was taught ages ago, was to put a pin through the paper and the fabric, lift the paper very carefully and draw a dot with your fabric marker where the pin goes through the fabric. Then take the paper off and connect the dots into lines. Hope this makes sense. 🍀
I made view B with a thrifted mumu! It's so awesome! I'm stuck on the closures though. I'm so so bad at closures. I also had difficulty with the collar! It was a painful process.
There’s a reason most of my Edwardian stuff closed with snaps! No button holes
@@SewLoud I lost my baggie of snaps haha! I need to take a trip to Fabricland.
Found your channel 2 years after you posted this, I have that pattern too, someday I'll make it... I have a dog that barks a TON at everything and nothing at all. He thinks if he's not in my line of sight I won't know its him, we also have 2 female dogs, all 3 have a unique bark so I always know who is being naughty and noisy.. he also ahs the weirdest/loudest water bowl sluprt . Btw, I love your button tin. Going to go look through your other videos,
I was looking for a good understanding petticoat tutorial since I'm making one for lolita, so glad I came across yours!! I plan on shortening the ruffle length and using cotton since I have so much of it, so wish me luck 😅!!
That should work perfectly! I'd love to see it when you finish.
Eu gosto de fabricantes que fazem suas próprias peças a mão
I know this video is now years old, but how on earth are you wearing your hats? I don't see a ribbon and I'm intrigued.
Hat pins! Not 10” ones like in the Victorian era. Think 4” like a corsage pin.
@@SewLoud Thank you!
I have missed your videos. Thanks for the reassurance that all my crazy hair pieces aren't as weird as I thought.
Hair pieces are the period way to do it! so much easier
Did you buttoned the blouse by yourself?
yup. It's not as hard as you'd think
Loved watching you sew this lovely blouse!!! Thanks!
Thank you! I'm just getting ready to make these. Your shape and skills are similar to my own. Watching you gave me confidence and I learned a few tips
I'm so glad it was helpful! I've found they've only become more comfortable the more I wear them.
How can I have the pattern, oh mensurations ?
It's a pattern made by a company named folkwear. I ordered it off their website. www.folkwear.com/collections/vintage/products/205-gibson-girl-blouse?variant=32615961460802
Thank you for being down to earth.
I did the same with my boning channels with my stays. Marked the top and the bottom of each bone and connected with a ruler. Made sure they were the same width. I was also adding bones, since the simplicity that I used was only half boned. But it worked out. I’m just folding down the seam allowance now.
Hi! Hello! So. I found this video because I am about to start on this project and I was looking for some content to feel more confident. I am definitely subscribing and will watch more of your stuff in the near future. But. In case this isn't mentioned elsewhere, I wanted to ask. I think you're using a linen thread at the end? Because I think I saw a block of wax. Where do you get those from? The only ones I've ever gotten my hands on where in my grandma's stash of sewing supplies. 🤔 Have a wonderful day and thank you for sharing!
This video was so heckin cute! Thoroughly enjoyed!
I am about to start on an 1830's project and had gone down the rabbit hole of TH-cam and came upon your lovely video! I think this method or using cording for the ruffles and the fact you use organdy are very smart. The video was organized and very helpful! I now know I can use a corded petticoat and top it with a layered one to get the right amount of floof that I need. Thanks!
Very nice. 👍 Ps. A thing I've noticed about the fit on Mariah Patties stay vidios, is if you shorten the back and lengthen the front, you get a much better posture and a cute figure a bit like a Barbie doll. Having the long back (like all the patterns I've come across do) pushes your hips forward and your belly out and give you a not good posture (which is terrible for my poor back). She also successfully uses a zipper front closure, streamlined the construction process, and added cups or underbust pads, which are apparently historically accurate.
Tip: when using e-patterns, print your pattern pages on a card stock paper. Then they aren't flimsy copy paper.
Wow you make this look so easy and it gives GREAT shape at the end! I feel silly that I have never made a tiered petticoat out of organdy! *adds to ever-growing list of projects*
😂💜
I laughed at your comment about not following the instructions because I'm the same way. I just sewed the Truly Victorian Edwardian Combinations pattern and did not even read the instructions, lol.
Oh my gaaahd. Instead of working on the 47 partially finished projects (from pattern pieces cut out to needs half a hem and it’s done), I am browsing TH-cam for inspiration on more projects. Doggo tea parties were definitely on my list for some time. My procrast soul sees your procrast soul!
Your outfit is stunning. I am especially impressed by the hairpiece. I think the hairstyles of the romantic period are my favorite, but I so rarely see it done, let alone done right! Well done!
I can't take any credit for as I bought it. But it's hands down my favorite thing to wear, I feel delightfully absurd.
🤣🤣🤣 That beginning
That was a fun video!
Thank you for making this video. I'm about to start this pattern and it really helps to see someone construct it!
Glad it was helpful!
“Is that a hint?” “Maybe ... No ... Maybe” 😆
The penguin earrings are EVERYTHING!
They make me happy every time I wear them 😆
Thanks so much for including me! Love all these sellers 💕
Thank you for your great patterns!
This was a really great list of shops, thanks for the tips!
Glad you enjoyed!
What a timely video! I learned about a couple of new business to check out!
Thank you for the shout out!❤️
You are so welcome
Enjoyed your video, especially your doggo interruptions ❤️. The moving Child cracked me up! And your husband is a gem
I am rather fond of him myself :-) he's a keeper
I can't decide if baby Yoda moving around was cute or creepy but I definitely appreciate your list of small businesses. Thanks for all the info and coupon codes!
I enjoyed playing “spot The Child” 😂
Scroop is having a sale and I would definitely snatch up both the Augusta stays and the 1910s corset, if only 2020 hadn't left me _broke._ :-( www.scrooppatterns.com
Thank You! I've been pondering just such a petticoat and now know how to start! I'm also going to make a shorter version with tulle tiers for a 50's style skirt, but I was worried about the scratchiness, so will 'borrow' this petticoat format of using base panels.
Glad it was helpful!
