Thanks🎉 same aircraft, same motor but in my case u had to grab some pliers and pull out the motor shaft. Works as it should now😊
is there any usb thermal cam that can get wired directly to vtx switch to relay output or will still need a MCU of some kind? I'm trying to add a mlx90640 and relay video to vtx switch but keep weight to a minimum. do i still need esp32 or pi board?
only more expensive cameras and they are heavier than a P2 Pro + Pi Zero 2 W afaik. And the weight of the Foxeer FT256 (same resolution as a P2 Pro) is 30g and is more expensive ($400+), but you can connect her directly to a VTX.
@catch22mania i just saw your other vid using the mlx sensor and yeah, the P2Pro seems like the sweet spot for quality/price. So only need a pi zero to make output work? plan to use vifly vtx switch

Do you know how I could just stream the output simply to an LCD and then place a reticle on the screen? Or just the right direction to find that out?
not streaming but via VTX like in this video and receiving on a mobile VRX screen like a Skyzone M5 (expensive). But there are also much cheaper screens available.
All these FPV thermal cams seemingly just highlight light with white on the screen, to me it doesn't actually seem to represent things that would be hotter in the environment. Seems weird to me, can anyone explain?
I've been trying to get this to work with a GepRC 12a and a BetaFPV 12a with no working results. I've tried with both Crossfire and elrs receivers. No problem when using uart 2 but I need that port for HDZero vtx. I can't, for the life of me, get the sbus pad on uart 1 to work.
have you tried sbus and not inverted sbus (TBS Nano RX)?
@catch22mania Thank you for your reply. The answer is yes. And with elrs I've tried inverted crsf and sbus.
@@doncunningham3124 then it's probably a flight controller issue. I had something similar with an EMAX Nanohawk X fc. It was impossible to add a GPS module and a receiver.

Infiray X2 CH90 is also working...I attach it to a dji mavic mini but am encountering a gps-signal loss as soon as I attach the pi Zero underneath the drone..any advise?
not really, you have to find the best place for the VTX on the drone, probably far away from the GPS module. Turn Wifi, blutooth off.
When it comes to long range drone flying, which is better beta flight or inav ?
I prefer Betaflight for quadcopters, Inav/Ardupilot for planes

Not sure what your use case is, but after looking into thermal cams for about a year now, I’ve reached the conclusion that they’re not worth fooling with. Unless you’re a computer wizard like this guy is, you’re better off spending the money on an expensive AIO system.
@@morbloe4559 Not entirely true, i'm no "computer wiz" and managed to put together a thermal drone referencing catch22's videos. I will say though don't bother unless you're stubborn, optomistic and have some experience in this field. You are corrct in that a ready made thermal drone is the easiest to go with and you'll get a lot more useability than these rudamentry setups but at a substantial cost. Probably the biggest issue with these homebrew thermals is their low resolution and lack of gimbal stabilisation...
@@morbloe4559 I don't think you need special computer skills. That part is actually quiet easy - just uncommend the commands for your camera and it should work. But you need someone who can modify fpv quadcopters/drones or has the patience and time to figure that part out.
@catch22mania Нашёл это видео потому что задумал то же сделать и почти сделал но решил все же проверить не изобретаю ли я очередное колесо, хорошая работа. Этот вариант хорошее решение для тех у кого уже есть usb тепловизоры. Если нет такого то для фпв и других экспериментов с выводом аналогово сигнала есть готовое решение продается на али примерно 200$ ищется в Яндексе по следящему запросу "T256 9.7mm" там же есть модели с большим разрешением.
That super violent scene at the end was really unnecessary... Watching FPV content to relax, not be exposed to that kind of things.
Hi! What is the weight of your drone with the molicel p42? The extra weight is not problem at the end of the flight when the battery is close to 3 volts? Yesterday I flew 7.73 km (sony murata vtc6), and the battery was very weak under 2.8 volts. The throttle was more that 60%. How is it with Molicel cells? 
sorry, I was thinking about an M35 (18650). The p42s voltage sag is similar to the VTC6 due to the extra weight (+22g).
Which thermal camera performed the best in terms of clarity and distance while in flight?
I would recommend the Infiray P2 Pro, but I only tested a few cameras

Hey! This is awesome, I’m trying to build a drone for hunting purposes. Would this camera see a deer from 100 yards away? And would you suggest digital over analog for this purpose? Also do you know if the InfiRay T2 Pro camera is also compatible? $100 more but it seems it seems like that camera is next level for the price and size. Thanks for the video, mate! 3:48 what causes such significant delay? Is it because of Raspberry Pi or the camera? Will this work with T3s? What version of raspberryPi are you using?
that's the camera recalibration. It happens usally when the internal temperature changes. That's normal, any inexpensive thermal imaging camera does this.

@@catch22mania no, I mean 2:32 see on the right you have a pretty decent (small) delay and a good amount of FPS. On the left side it's basically a slideshow, very bad. Why is that?
@@Kirill-ir4vg that's the screengraber software. it's not fast enough on a PI running parallel to the PTC script.

Hello dear friend. I am from Ukraine. Please tell me what length of single-wire antenna you used in this experiment? My module has only one ceramic antenna attachment point. I tried to solder 4.68 cm wire but it works much worse. How did you fly on mobile6? In those videos your wires are clearly less than 9.3 cm.

the 1S usable capacity of the Sony VTC6 21700 and Molicel P42a is about 3700 to 3900 mAh. Just started to test the Molicel P45b and I can't see (at the moment) a huge improvement for 1S copters.
