Weekends with Adele June 8, 2024 Show #88 Las Vegas Residency
Weekends with Adele June 8, 2024 Show #88 Las Vegas Residency
Was lucky enough to see Adele 8 years ago, July 2016 in Denver MUCH closer: th-cam.com/video/JbnDOZhu1Jw/w-d-xo.html
This time, front row balcony in the much smaller venue at Caesar's, was just as electric and incredible.
Apologies for bits of focus issues, but the outer limits of the zoom make it hard to avoid.
My high school best friend and I graduated in '88 so to get to share this 88th show on the 8th of June was extra special!

Ladies Weekend for Christmas in NYC Dec. 8 - 11 We'd visited on the same weekend for the first time last year and had so much fun seeing all the Santa Con outfits roaming the city, we decided to play along (with the outfits, not the bar crawl). Loved our stay at The Warwick, huge shoutout to the fantastic maintenance guys who came to our room and basically rebuilt the wheelchair when it broke o...
Childhood South Belt Memories for Dobie CO '88

We were kids of the 70s growing up in Houston, born in the months after NASA put the first men on the moon and the Texas oil boom took off. During our first decade, the city of Houston expanded by 328 square miles. The Galleria opened the same year the majority of our class were born, but we spent most of our time at Almeda Mall, just two years old then and always packed on the weekends. Sunday...

Remi Dance Month 1

Remi celebrated his first month at his forever home today. After losing Jake to cancer at the end of May at age 11, when I saw Remi, also age 11, at the shelter in September, I had to bring him home. Turns out, he has the most adorable "Remi Dance" whenever he sees a tennis ball. These are just a few of them from his first month home.

It was the last day of our very first trip to Walt Disney World in December 2000 (no park tickets) so before we headed for the airport, we had breakfast at the Grand Floridian and then took a turn riding up front with the pilot on the Monorail to get our Monorail Pilot Licenses (discontinued since 2009). Sammi (5) kept asking why we were just going in a circle. The Monorail Pilot was suggesting...
Jake's Last Days

my beloved sweet Jake, diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma on Tuesday, came home to be loved and spoiled for only four days before he couldn't go on any more. These are just the scenes I captured in his last days, still so fun and filled with life, May 24 - 28. I hope he was freed to go find Evan and Katy and Ian and Lady and Dini and Shelby waiting for him to play until I can get there.

This video brings back a lot of memories, and a couple of tears. I am in my late 50's now, but remember having coke floats in the Foley's restaurant with my cousins as a child while the adults went shopping. Things were better back then, less people, less crime (notice that there were no locks on the bikes), no cell phones or personal computers. You had to carry some pocket change, 10 cents I believe, and use payphones to call for a ride home. Going to the mall to buy an album at the record store, or concert tickets for your favorite band, was all done in person. Most people dressed nicer back then too when in public. Even getting on an airplane was a dressy event. Some things have gotten better, but in general things have slowly declined in my opinion.

As a kid Alameda mall was great. Today it's a ghetto POS. Shame. Everything that was once beautiful in Houston is now destroyed and ugly and built over.

R.I.P. Palais Royal -- They gave me my first credit card. Palais Royal originated in 1921 in Downtown Houston. The Almeda Mall location opened in 1968 and remained opened until the company went out of business in 2020.

Having started my Houston mall experience as a baby going to Gulfgate (no memory), to Sharpstown (mom shopped at the attached grocery store, there!), Northwest Mall, Memorial City & The Galleria (last 2 were the main malls throughout my school years), I finished out my Houston life, as an adult with a family, with Almeda Mall. I so loved its human scale which I knew was a twin of Northwest Mall. It was not overwhelming. Baybrook Mall was another adulthood one, but it was not charming like Almeda. Thank you for this wonderful record of a fabulous place.

This was the decade when we used to go to this mall. My mom worked at the Foley’s anchor store for a while. We would spend hours in the mall, theaters, and library that was in the same parking lot as kids. Kinda cool to see images I haven’t even thought about in 35 years.
