So helpful. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks for the encouragement and reminders Ginger!
"Success is me telling you what to do and you doing it....when God calls you to something and you answer the call." ❤❤❤
Great reminder, Ro! It's so good to hear these simple suggestions. ❤
I totally forgot to post what resonated with me about the video!!! 1. Love the child you have and not the one you want them to be and 2. The “when I was a child” part….they are children so even in our homeschooling and raising our children we have to remember to let them be children!!! Both of those really spoke to me! Thanks again your content it really is a blessing! God bless you and your family!
Hi! Thank you so much for all of your videos! I am a Christian, African American mom of two beautiful girlies who would love to chat with someone in the Hershey, Pa area or surrounding areas about their homeschooling experience in the area. We are moving to the area from down south very soon!
Hi! I'd love to connect with you. Please write in to staff@chaponline.com and we'll set up a time to chat!
This was such a wonderful conversation! Great tips on loving our specific children, focusing on their strengths, getting the help (village and care) we need as parents and encouragement to trust the sovereignty of God. Thank you ladies for sharing your wisdom with such humility and grace. I am grateful!
Hi, I’m trying to get my nephew to be home schooled but he is already enrolled in preschool. We are in Pennsylvania. Do we have to formerly withdraw somehow in order for him to begin his homeschooling?
You do not need to file paperwork to homeschool until a child is 6. The child may be withdrawn from preschool and you may start homeschooling at any time. Compulsory age is 6, so if the child is younger than 6, you may homeschool without paperwork.
To withdraw, you write a simple document stating that you will be withdrawing the child from the school and sign and date it.
Thank you very much for this live, you guys made my day❤ I am in the process of start homeschooling my 9 years old .
Hello, i know in order to have my child homeschooling i need to have the High school completed, i did high school in my country, i don't have GED, but i have some college education here in USA for a MA certification years ago. Do you know what kind of documentation they may accept since i did my high in Argentina?
Thanks so much for info
Thanks!! <3
Thanks a lot
I hope the word will get out about these videos. This is really encouraging for homeschooling moms. I used to be one, but my kids are grown now. What you are saying is good for all of us to hear again and again. It's hard work, but soooo important. You will be glad you did. 2 Chronicles 15:7. ❤
Thank you! Your encouragement is very helpful. Feel free to share far and wide. 😀 Thank you for the verse - perfect!
Great video!! Thank you. I think this might be the identity list... www.ficm.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/who-i-am-in-christ05.pdf
Do you have an evaluator i can use?
You can search for our in our database: chaponline.com/evaluators-by-county/
Great questions. Thank you! 🤗
We have our first ever eval for my middle schoolers, and this really helped me.
Will the sale be on the HOOVER CENTER?
It is in the Susquehanna room, which is across campus from the Hoover center. Campus isn't very big, so it's not a long walk.
🌹 *Promosm*
Yeah. Used curriculum sale is back.
Parents can or can't administer tests? Why or why not?
The parent is not to be the proctor of their child's test. However, if you purchase an online test, the computer acts as the proctor, so this avoids the issue of finding another person to administer the test to your student.
Excited! Love your energy!
I love CHAP convention!
Hope to be able to attend convention this year! Looks like so so much fun and lots of information! This is our first year in PA and it is totally different than where we were previously living.
We'd love to see you! Stop by the CHAP booth and say hi!
Great job Abby and Ro! I am very excited about your sessions at the 2024 CHAP Convention!
Thanks for the invitation! I really enjoyed chatting with Ro and hope homeschool moms feel encouraged through this :)

Wonderful! Thanks for letting us know!
Hi, I am interested in the resources at the end of the video
Hi! You can reach out to Anita at Akind.cookie@gmail.com and she'll help you out!
Thank you ladies! Very Proud of you using your voices and sharing about this incredibly important topic❤️ 🙌
Hi,I put my son back to school at the high school but they aren't credited any of the years because I don't used a curriculum or books or core curriculum!!
Unfortunately, public schools do not have to accept any of the work done by a homeschool student. They have the legal right to require students at any age to start over at freshman year and complete all their requirements. Some schools will offer a placement test and assign a grade according to the results, but they are not required to do so.
Is there any reason that one would rather get the affidavit notarized versus unsworn? I can't seem to find a logical answer.
It's really a preference. Some folks find the extra steps and cost of the affidavit to be disadvantageous. The unsworn declaration is the quicker and cheaper route.
Hello, During my research their website also said that you need "a certification to be signed by the supervisor that the supervisor, all adults living in the home and persons having legal custody of a child or children in a home education program have not been convicted of the criminal offenses enumerated in subsection (e) of section 111 within five years immediately preceding the date of the affidavit." But i can't find any good examples of what that is suppose to look like.
Have you checked out CHAP's affidavit? The offenses are listed on it. homeschoolpennsylvania.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Affidavit_Form.pdf

I would like to get the laws changed in Pennsylvania. I moved from a more free homeschooling state and there is government overreach here. The evaluations & required testing are ridiculous. The government should not have this many requirements to make it harder to homeschool. Just because a law is passed does not mean it is valid. Any law that goes against the state constitution should be challenged, especially for religious reasons.
According to the government site www.education.pa.gov/K-12/Home%20Education%20and%20Private%20Tutoring/HomeEdPrivateTutoringGuide/HomeEdPrograms/Pages/default.aspx it says that children 6 and over are required to have an affidavit, was this a recently changed law? -new to PA homeschooling
The compulsory age was changed to 6 a number of years ago. This video was recorded in 2018, which was before the compulsory age change.
oh wow! watching this a little late, but i think we parents need this intensive!
Giveaway contest is closed!
I can’t wait to see Rick Green at CHAP Convention 2023!
Allie, this video was created before the compulsory age change in PA. The current compulsory age is 6 years old. This isn't necessarily first grade, as parents to not have to declare a grade for their child on their paperwork. You will need to file an affidavit or unsworn declaration the year that your child is six. No need to worry about it this year if your child was five at the start of the school year.
Isn't compulsory age in PA 6 years old/ first grade? I have a super learner 5 year old who is one grade ahead in our homeschool curriculum, so I thought I had to submit an affidavit in the fall since he'll be doing first grade... Am I misunderstanding?
Thank you for the words of encouragement in the beginning; we are a couple of years away from testing but it's a good note to make now!
Thank you, ladies!
