FreeCad 0.19 Black Pad Of Death
This video addresses the frustration many users have when installing the latest version of FreeCAD. Everything seems to work until you begin a new model. When you go from a 2D sketch to 3D by using the pad icon, your pad turns black. The fix if surprisingly simple, but the answer alludes many largely because they are not asking the rite questions. It’s my hope that new users of FreeCAD will not have to go through the frustration I experienced when downloading the latest version of FreeCAD 0.19

Crazy Simple 3D Printed Enclosure with FreeCAD 0.18 Parametric Design Part 7
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Like so many of my 3d printing and freecad tutorials, I attempt to solve a real world problem while demonstrating how to use FreeCAD and 3D printers. 3D printing has become the go to method for creating objects which previously required machining. In this series I'll introduce you to its spreadsheet, equations, and parametric design. As you observe the model, notice the way the internal cavity ...

FreeCAD Broken Sketch Broken Face 2020
มุมมอง 21K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This tutorial video was created to avoid the frustration many beginners face when modeling with FreeCAD. The subject of the sketch repair tool has been covered before, but the content is quite dated. As is the case with many open source projects, the user interface tends to change over time thus rendering previous tutorials obsolete. This channel is primarily concerned with embedded programming...

Hi. Did you ever make a video or anything showing your printer setup and the tune up process you created? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Cool!
Tailored to my need, thanks!
Thanks for this 3 part series. I have a fellows M-5C which I foolishly put a compact disc with very sensitive data on, through the shredder. It damaged the final spur gear and I was able to design the part as shown in this series. You are a savior.
Good day. Hope you are well. I am going to try making my own spreadsheet for box designs following your 7 videos. Just wanted to ask if I can ask help with stuff in future.
love your video intro bro
How do you resize the spreadsheet? Mine takes up the whole screen.
NM it in in part 3
I went through all your videos and subbed and went to the thread to get the file and you have not participated in that thread other than the initial announcement and have not shared the files as far as I cant tell so I am going to unsub if you don't post a link to the files. I am not going to spend the time to recreate them in the off chance I will need a box in the future.
Hello, I do appreciate the video, I am a complete beginner. Following the instructions all tests result OK, but the popup still comes up. Very frustrating.
is the file available so I can change the size?
Life saver!
im using the 0.18 and it still says failed to validate broken face.... i followed the steps exactly as well...
Thanks!!
This was super helpful and led me down a trouble shooting path that showed that my sketch had either very tiny duplicate geometry or "0" length segments. The solver was putting in duplicate vertexes that was invalidating my sketch....
Hello, Thanks for a great tutorial series. Are you still planning to release the file?
Great content 🐐
Dang good video but you didn't show how to do brute force, which it appears I need to do with mine.
Another thanks! This was driving me crazy
You're quite welcome. BTW I have just released a new video. This time it's in getting up and running with FreeCAD 0.19. Do check it out.

Thanks so much for the kind reply. I just released my first video regarding version 0.19. Enjoy
GOD IS REAL LOVE GOD AND EVERYONE
Thank you. Sorry for the late reply. I've been busy with holiday preparation, and haven't had time to produce more videos. BTW I've just released my latest video regarding version 0.19. I hope you'll find this video helpful.
thank you
You're welcome. Sorry for the late reply. BTW I've just released my latest FreeCAD video regarding getting started with version 0.19. Enjoy.
Thou shall be blessed my dearest friend!!!!!!!
I’m so glad it helped. It also seems to work just as well in release 0.19 which I have migrated to. Enjoy!
it didnt work for me it couldnt find any problem to fix..
That’s really too bad. The only thing I can recommend is the brute force method which I also outlined in the video. Also check to see if you have two enclosed loops which are touching. Good luck.
for somereason i dont have the option to press validate sketch
Wow, that’s a new one! The only time I encountered that, as in the button was grayed out, was when there were no problems with the sketch. I hope you’re using release 0.18. I do remember in the early days of the 0.19 development cycle, there was some experimentation with moving validate to a new location. Happily, in the stable release, it’s in the same place its always been. It looks like I’m finally moving to FREECad 0.19.2. It took me quite a while to get it working properly. I suspect I’m not alone as many others are still using release 0.18. Look for more videos relative to that release soon.
helpfull, thanks man!

Hello sir I have already did follow your advisor but when I pad it’s hide I can see my sketch, what happened can you tell me ?
Could you give more detail. Incidentally, what version of FreeCAD are you using?
I am using version 0.18 of freeCAD
thanks for your help
Glad it helped
mille mercis!!!!! thousand thanks
You're welcome!
Thankyou so much, this is a real life savior...
This post has helped so many people. I'm just sorry I didn't post this video much sooner.
Thank you, this saved me a lot of headache.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been seriously Ill, and I just got back to tending to this channel. As always, I'm glad to have helped.
Thank you very very much!!!! I was able to use your video to fix my neck massager and several other things that needed gears! <3
Perfect! You have the right idea. This fix was not intended just for paper shredders, but anything that needs a replacement gear. Keep up the good work.
@@bcastlar3453 No thank you for taking the time to make a great video and help others learn! =D
I guess I'm pretty randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to watch newly released series online?
@Quentin Lucca lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
@Archie Louis Yup, have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
great!

That's the purpose of this channel.
I feel I'm 'indepthted' to you for making this video. :)
We’re all here to share knowledge. I’m just glad to have unlocked the mystery of parametric programming to so many people. Programs such as this can take the drudge work out of repetitive CAD tasks. `
Thank you.
You're more than welcome.
Thanks! saved me a lot of time!
You're welcome!
Praise the lord finaly :)
I'm glad I could help so many people. Good to see it worked for you.
I think i just found a new favorite Teacher. Great video.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you for this! I had a sketch with a lot of arcs, and I was really desperate wondering why everyone was making extrusion so easy and I couldn't. Thanks again!! God bless you!
You're very welcome!
Also, thank you so much for subscribing!
[Comment Removed Due to Violent Language] ... anyways. Thank you. Spent almost 2 hrs triying to figure out why i was getting the error.
You’re welcome. Judging by all of the comments left regarding this video, it’s helped a lot of people.
What is the value of encBosD?
The formula is: encBosD = 2 * encBosR encBosR is simply the enclosure Boss Radius which, in turn, is directly proportional to the screw clearance diameter. I hope that answers your question. Do try to duplicate the tutorial series, a lot of questions will be answered along the way.
@@bcastlar3453 I am following along this design series but I am a bit stuck with these values. Where is the boss radius defined? Or is that part of part 6 of the video?
The boss radius is equal to the screw clearance diameter. This value is defined in cell B12. By design choice, all boss dimensions are dependent on the screw clearance diameter. I hope this helps.
@@bcastlar3453 thanks! That certainly helps!
Awesome tutorial I learned something new today thanks 😊
Thanks so much for your kind words. In a more recent post, you asked about encBosD. The abbreviation stands for, “Enclosure Boss Diameter”. For security reasons I develop on a different software platform than what I use on the internet. For now I will say this, if you click on that cell, the edit line at the top of the spread sheet will always display the formula for that cell. I’ll need to switch platforms and get back to you regarding the formula for that cell.
Thanks man... I literally had a problem with it since a few days..... U deserve my subscribe
Thanks for the subscribe, I really appreciate that. It’s really gratifying that I helped so many people. Do check out my other tutorials, so far, they’re all related to FreeCAD.
As a “Freecadist” that has watched many hundreds of tutorials my opinion is this is a very fine tutorial both in its content and the way you presented the information. I found it easy to follow because you presented the information slowly and simply - something that many tutorials, despite the presenters obvious expertise, fail to do. I have subscribed to your channel in the hope that you will post more “troubleshooting” tutorials. Thank You.
Thank you, your description of my content exactly describes my intent. Far too many You Tubers race through complex information leaving the viewer wondering just exactly what was said. If you check my channel home page, you’ll find my focus is toward automating repetitive tasks using the power of parametric programming. If you work a lot with FreeCAD, you’ll find much of this useful. Many thanks for subscribing, that means a great deal since I need 1000 subscribers before I’m eligible to be monetized. Again thanks.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks so much for the link on the FreeCAD website. I checked it out and appreciate the recognition from that site. It’s great to have my work validated in that way.
For anyone using version 0.19 this tool is no longer in the Part Design tab. It is now in the Sketch tab. (to the left)
Thanks, I was looking for it.
This reminds me of the days long ago when 0.16 was the stable release. I downloaded the 0.17 development version. Through the course of many updates, items in the GUI kept moving around so this is no surprise. When 0.19 becomes the stable version, I might have to do a 2021 update of this video. Thanks for the heads up though. I’m sure many users of 0.19 will find this useful.
thank you!
This should be a pinned comment
@@bcastlar3453 I am using 0.19 and can not find the validate tool in the sketch bench even thought I was told to look for it. Of course their may be an icon but again I do not know for what I am looking.
Thanks a lot...you literally saved my life❤❤❤❤ I had no idea how to fix that error and have to submit the project by tomorrow.
Glad I could help!
good work, happy to see landfill avoidance at its finest. Curious, which hotend are you using for ABS? What hotend and heated bed temperatures? I've not printed ABS but understand it's somewhat finicky
First off, sorry for the late reply. I have been ill. Regarding the hot end, it’s generally the cheapest thing Ebay has to offer. I do have one thing to suggest. Remove the 40 watt heater from the hot end block and coat both the outside of the heater as well as the inside of the block with transistor heat sink compound. This will allow your heater to run cooler for the same hot end temp. When printing at higher temperatures, this will extend the life of your heater. The ABS temperatures I print at are hot end 240 C., and bed 90 C. Bear in mind that just because the readout is digital doesn’t indicate accuracy. The temperature sensors supplied are not lab calibrated. Therefore do experiment with values above and below the desired value for best print. Every printer is different.
i know it's kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
