Hiya! My name is Kieran, and welcome to Kieran's Travels. I am a 20 year old who absolutely loves everything Travel and Transport. I create both short and long form Bus, Train, Tram, and Travel content, in various forms. Starting out as a gaming channel called Trainsim99 in 2017, I have grown strength to strength, later becoming Kieran's Transport Diaries, and wanting to branch out from just transport, becoming Kieran's Travels in 2023. I now create a variety of transport and travel content, including trip reports.

Preserved Midland Red Alexander J-Type Daimler Fleetline CRG6LXB: UHA 225H
This was a surprisingly great motor!
Back well over a year ago now, I attended 2023's Derbyshire Dales Bus and Train Festival - While looking back, most of the videos were ruined by wind pollution and overcrowding on the buses, this 1969 Daimler Fleetline was quite a treat towards the end of the day.
New to Midland Red a their 6225, It never went far from it's original Birmingham home - It briefly went on loan to Southdown of Brighton in 1981, but it soon returned to work at Midland Red East (Later Midland Fox) in Leicester. It was withdrawn by 1987, and preserved by 1990, where it regularly attends events in The Midlands, and sometimes beyond.
Enjoy a mostly unedited run on The Bakewell Flyer, from Peak Rail to Bakewell.

Love the sound of Fleetlines with the Gardner 6LXB engine. Retro thrash indeed. Cleveland Transit's Fleetlines sounded a lot like this.

I miss that sound so much! The driver having stupid Heart FM playing in the background greatly ruins the atmosphere though, I'd take a frantically vibrating OM934 over some of the songs they play on that station any day. I didn't really catch any particularly whiny ones when they were EVERYWHERE in Wales, but this is First Cymru we're talking about, so most of their remaining Darts were absolutely wrecked ones coming from London and other First operators that didn't want them any more, running on services about as practical as a chocolate teapot.
Said driver did actually briefly turn his radio off for the run back (Stratham - Warrington), although if I'm being honest, I was just happy to get on it at all! Howard's Travel has a very negative reputation among enthusiasts, as they really don't like enthusiasts at all - had I had the driver that was on it in the morning, I probably would've been denied filming, or denied boarding it at all, it was lucky that I went after the midday driver change over by pure coincidence. The driver I had in this video was about to tell me to stop filming for the second half, but because I was polite, he allowed me to keep going.
@@kieranstravels Oh dear! Drivers should be accommodating of all passengers, no matter whether they disagree with how they live their life or not, as long as they are not causing obvious harm to the drivers and passengers. Their job is simply to get people to their destination safely, end of.
@@SWTE728 unfortunately, there's always a small minority of individuals and operators who ruin it for the rest. In all of my travels across the UK, easily filming 200+ buses total since 2021, I've only ever had about 5-7 examples of drivers and/or passengers truly causing issues over filming - Howard's have caused two of those.
@kieranstravels there's only one Howards driver I haven't had issues with while filming, and you'll know who I'm on about

EDIT - Various TFL creators have informed me that this motor is surprisingly still Euro 2 standards, despite being built around the time Euro 3 was introduced. Even better! 11 is more or less an average number of buses that people seem to ride on. I managed to ride 9 buses (excluding the Redhill feeder both ways).

The front screen is already not working, been on it today and I can confirm it that the front screen stopped working now. Yes, more buses were supposed to arrive between now and 2 weeks ago but soon Volvo BZL DD will come

we have that 2007 bus model in Jamaica with minor differences, at 0:39 the middle continental door has it on the left side and the emergency exit door at the back we don't have also ours came with opening windows. Different interior and overall we got those from Belgium. One more thing. Even though Jamaica and England drive on the left side of the road how comes you guys have the middle continental door on the right side?

@@kieranstravels that's a shame, unless the staff witnessed it themselves then they can't really call the police as it's a case of he said she said I guess, unless you volunteered to send the footage or stick around for the police I guess in which case they'd probably ask you to call them anyway. Nevermind, they'll probably learn their lesson sooner than later

@@Faulty720 The National Rail side of the station has CCTV cameras installed at the gateline - Mainly for the purpose of staff being able to go help any wheelchair bound passengers who don't book assistance. That gateline is staffed during service running hours pretty much entirely.
