A million voices and thousands of pink lights. This after VP Leni has finished her speech. This crowd has been standing in the heat for hours, and having just heard from our leader, we sing this for her, for the hope that she represents. Not seen in this picture: strangers laughing together, sharing snacks, fanning one another, asking the man behind if he could see. People stood at corners holding trash bags open or serving glasses of cold water. She's awakened something in us, and it's as if the best versions of the Filipino all showed up today.
