The Remember Veteran Grave Markers, Inc. (RVGM, Inc.) TH-cam channel is devoted to public awareness and education about the need to preserve Veteran Grave Markers in private and municipal cemeteries in Lucas County, Ohio. We do this by using social media to inform and motivate concerned citizens on how they can help. When thinking of Veteran Graves, we often think of Arlington or other National Cemeteries, yet most Veterans are buried in private and municipal cemeteries. What comes as a surprise is the condition of the Government-furnished Veteran Grave Markers/Headstones found in municipal and private cemeteries. Please watch, like, subscribe and share! RVGM 60 160 Years after WBTS
The operative word of Remember Veteran Grave Markers Inc. is REMEMBER. In 2025, it will be the 160th year anniversary of the end of the Civil War/War Between The States.
Today walking around any private or municipal cemetery in the US, we will find the braves of these patriots in disrepair and in need of intense cleaning, or even replacement.
This video was to compare the past to the present and challenge today's citizens to step up and render aid to these patriots by tending to their graves. How about it?

Perhaps one of the most often-asked questions I receive is how long it takes to Clean a Veteran's grave? Good question. It kind of depends on the level of effort you wish to put into it. Perhaps you are right, however, answer me this...Vetted by whom and you come to this knowledge how? If the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration identifies it as an acceptable product, that is vetting.

Wow! I gushed over this one, however upon reflection there are things about the stone which suggest it is a newer headstone. First is that the headstone has a shield and lettering in BAS Relief. Thick is common of pre 1900 headstones. The stone is 12” wide not 10” as 10 inch is the standard of those who died during and shortly thereafter the Civil War (TWBTS). The dates became birth and death weren’t added until after WWI (1919). So what do we know from the stone, veteran Applegate was a soldier assigned to Co A, 86th Ohio Infantry firing the Civil War. He wasn’t an officer or NCO as his headstone would show that. Later post Civil War Era like Indian Wars or Spanish American War would include the conflict era. His age was 18 at the start of the Civil War. And he lived until 1933. The stone you see probably replaced a worn out headstone. It is speculative to know if he ought to have received a 10” stone or as a veteran, the “12 stone was the norm! @rvgminc #rvgminc
