Music gives back all you put in.
I mainly do pottery in the winter to pass the time.
This is my 1972 Oldsmobile 442, W-30
Its all about Artwork.
My playlist " This land is our land" will keep those that care updated as to what the wefties are doing to destroy the free world.
If I make enough videos, I hope they will tell a story.

Canadian Pacific railway sign in ceramics
I wanted to recreate a Canadian Pacific railway sign, these were cast in metal and attached to the side of the train.

World War I uniform for Remembrance day.
มุมมอง 427หลายเดือนก่อน
I was fortunate enough to have in my care this World War I uniform, the soldier was with the 199th (Overseas Irish Canadian rangers) Infantry Battalion until being absorbed by the 23rd Canadian Reserve Bn in Nov 1917. It seems they sailed for England in December, 1916 and thence were dispersed into the Quebec reinforcement units. While still in Montreal they seem to have acquired a certain noto...
Closing the cottage 2024.

This was a great year for weather and one of the nicest days to close the cottage.
Ironwood cutting and splitting.
มุมมอง 6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the largest ironwood tree I have ever seen, probably died of old age, standing dead and ready to burn. The wood on these trees is twisted and hard to split but this one was nice and dry.

Making a black bear from clay to glazing and firing. I use cone 10 toast clay it seems to work the best for this type of sculpture.
Recording lead guitar to a song
มุมมอง 1.3K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
When I record lead guitar to a song I play the lead as many times as I can throughout the song and then pick the best one that way I only record once and its fresh. I remember band practice and the first time you play the set it's fun the second time not so much. My SG is 50 this year.
Lake trout sculpture finish

The Lake trout survived although I didn't get the colours right, it should be much darker especially along the back but for the first try I am glad it turned out and the kiln worked great.
Lake trout sculpture, to be or not to be
มุมมอง 23311 หลายเดือนก่อน
The true test is when you flip it over on the stands for the first time, if parts are to heavy they could break off or if the stands are not strong enough your in trouble.

Lake trout sculpture

I have a kiln big enough to try making this 36 inch fish sculpture but I do not know if it will hold together or survive the firing. The clay is only workable for two days and this is all you can do the first day until it firms up and holds shape.

That is a really cool ww1 uniform
Ya, it's in excellent condition.
@ i have my great grandads medal from the First World War
3/16ths is still really high, that's 12/64th's. Your mm side shows just over 2mm, so I think you meant 3/32nd's or 6/64th's which is a perfect string height. Nice work!
It turned out beautifully! Everyone needs one of these in their garden. What an interesting piece!
Jim...is thatca mex strat? If so where did you get your short setscrews?
www.stratcat.biz/ They are called overdrive custom guitar works.
I ordered some for my MIM strat. Hope they fit!
Nicely done. Headed to my shop to remove the neck bacbow on my '51 RI p-bass. I've done this before but a refresher course was due. All in all, Leo got most everything right on his guitars except the neck heel TR adjustment nut. Dumb. The the bullet truss rod nut on the head stock. Dumb and ugly. I do like the micro-tilt though.
Ya its just like a carpenter bending wood but be mindful not to damage the frets
Great job - the finish on the bear is incredible! What material is the mold made out of?
That is 1/4 inch plastic board.
Too bad you don't talk. It's a guessing game at this point.
This turned out fantastic! Great job
Thanks
Amazing job!!! I got a 1982 fender precision neck that needs the same
I agree, this us a Great technique to adjust and repair a back and upbow relief...of the neck.. I had seen it done before...! Good Skillfull hands are also necessary and a Highly degree of quick knowledge...
That's some great workings, that shows how to really repair guitar necks ,great vid!
Thanks!
That's a game-changer - so much easier to do projects outside in the shed.
Yes, I am putting all my tools in there.
😂
A jackhammer would've helped too! Great job getting that out of the way.
Thanks
I would have used it as a footstool and burned a big fat one!
It looks fantastic! I'm glad you made a video to go along with the recipe.
Its easy and uses alot of things you already have in the kitchen.
A decent view and sound though.
You should of tied a rope to it to the back of the jeep and floored it!
I wanted to but this made me feel good.
Great job! Will you burn the stump now?
No, I will not burn it. Just throw it away.
Mantap
great work😃
Thanks
On older guitars the entire front of the guitar can come apart or loosen! Steam or dampen with care or have a professional do a neck reset!
Wow ! great footage. decades ago I volunteered at a local Zoo ( Turtleback) in NJ and they had one Fisher. I felt sorry for it as it was too shy to sit in a bare cement floor of the cage, it had a manmade cave which was placed on a shelf near ceiling that it would hide in. Since management wanted visitors to see the animal, they eventually took out the cave and the animal would curl up frozen (never moved) on the top shelf with its back to visitors. This was before zoo's would place branches or vegetation in cages, so the creature truly was on exhibit in a empty cage with nowhere to try to relax.
What a shame I guess that's why I have never been a fan of zoos. Porcupines do alot of damage to trees and fishers are one of the few animals that hunt them. I have not seen a porcupine since this fisher showed up.
@@jimsnorgleson Thanks that is such a cool fact! That one that was just an exhibit always bothered me, glad others think the same
Those pictures of them amazing, hope they were okay. Some folks draw designs on window with a bar of soap or a florescent yellow highlighter to deter some of the hits. I think the 1st bird was a female Blackburnian Warbler ( males bright orange), and the 2nd bird was a male Black-Throated Blue Warbler. A friend & I rescue songbirds when they migrate thru the city, birds hit the glass skyscrapers or fall to the cement, most do not survive impact, those that do we get them help. A youtube shows us in Newark NJ th-cam.com/video/kjxoV66pCcM/w-d-xo.html TRT video th-cam.com/video/Awp3mupoRyo/w-d-xo.html of us picking up injured Warblers.
Yes the birds flew away, I enjoy watching the warblers but they never seem to stop moving. That's great work you are doing, I will figure something out so they notice the window.
Glad to hear they were okay. I heard even with window treatments accidents still occur but reduced. Heard some have success with the DIY methods like soap or highlighter. Though always hear about lights-out, that is not a factor in Newark as they hit the windows on building without lights just the same so that made no difference that I could see.
My first guitar was a Stella. My music teacher called it a 'macaroni box.'
He was not far off, no sustain and a flat fretboard. I like a radius on the fretboard so it is hard for me to play but I recorded some songs with it and I am happy with the sound. I really believe guitars sound better with age and this one is old.
My parents got me that exact guitar when I was 13 yrs old in 1964 (those beatles!) I knew nothing about adjustable truss rods, but the guitar still held up ok. I don't remember what happened to it, but still see them around.
How's it holding up 1 year later?
It has not changed, I even leave it tuned in the case when I am not using it.
@@jimsnorgleson Thanks for the reply! Did you remove the rags after steaming, or did you leave them in during the three weeks? I have an old Hohner with miles-high action I want to try this with!
@@zemartinho9779 The rags keep the steam from loosening any braces but the clamp in the sound hole makes it to difficult to remove them so they stayed in for 3 weeks.
