    Hi. For this method, the right side has one line of stitches, while the wrong side has two? Or is it a personal choice?

    • @EpidaStudio
      @EpidaStudio 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is personal choice which side you want as the "right" side. Personally, I don't pay any attention to the lines of stitching so each side contains seams with both one and two lines of stitches. In a window hanging, you can't tell the difference and even out of a window it doesn't stand out.

    Hi-so the fusing will prevent the material from fraying?

    • @EpidaStudio
      @EpidaStudio 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It depends on what type of fusing you use. If you use a heavy weight, it will prevent fusing, but it will also be pretty stiff. I use a lighter weight fusible, so it could fray a little bit, but then I stitch along the edge to help secure it. You could stitch a zig zag stitch, decorative stitch or even just a straight line.

    Thank you so much! I took up embroidery this spring on a whim, and I've gone through seven beginner projects that aren't really good for decoration, but I don't want to just throw them away, so I've been looking into making a felt "needlebook" so that I can just sew those projects onto the felt "pages" for collection. But I want the cover of the book to be embroidered, so I'm so thankful for your tips on how to do that! I'm also planning to give my coworkers similar ornaments for Christmas because several of them have pestered me (jokingly) about giving my projects to them when they've seen me embroidering at work, and I was considering how best to make them. I didn't know the felt won't fray! I guess I'll be doing that! Much easier than what I was planning on doing, that's for sure!

    I like neat. I am a hand quilter, and make hand sewn historical inspired clothing. Currently working on my first cross stitch project - a small table mat. The thread snakes from one row to the next along the back, but no long carries, and I fixed the occasional bird's nests and snags. If it were going to be a towel, I would have sewn a bit of thin muslin behind the decorative part. I inherited a box of gorgeous fine embroidery from my grandmother, but as far as I know she was not the stitcher of any of it.

    Are the fabrics in the example wrong sides together?

    • @EpidaStudio
      @EpidaStudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because I'm using batik fabrics, I just treat them as reversible and ignore "right side" and "wrong side". If you have fabrics with a clear right and wrong side, you can choose to join them either right sides together or wrong sides together. It's a personal choice.

      It is just the same as a jeans seam (technically called a flat felled seam). I call it a "pojagi" seam because as far as I have found, the Korean traditional sewing is the only place that commonly uses this seam for patchwork, so it is a tribute that culture and tradition.
