Nice video!
Excited to see the continued development of this area! Look forward to seeing what can be done with the land by the corn cob.
if they who'd pull the metal out of the load they who'd say even more money and get money back from a scrap company

My hubby volunteers here and he absolutely LOVES it. Beautiful center.
How come you have to remove bulky items first? Mentioned ar 1:05.
Thank you for the question. Bulky items (larger than 3’ x 3’ x 3’) can bridge the hoppers and impede the flow of garbage into the combustion chambers
Please keep supporting both oxbow and chester woods parks. I love using and volunteering at the parks. All of our family and neighbors use the parks on a regular basis. Thank you to the board for they're support of the parks. ❤❤.

Mark Thein! Great guy! Great Commissioner!
Hey, you got a dirty or just ignorant judge there that didn't recognize the animal that raped those two tiny kids and maybe you best get a ring doorbell on him to make sure he's not doing the same to children. Your county is filthier than the state of CO.
Interesting!
Glad you think so!
Awesome on you guys for doing this
Mark Omsted doesn’t believe in justice and doesn’t believe in helping victims of crime especially victims of rape! When it comes to victims of rape he stands with the rapist! He believes a crime for a rapist is let them lead to the Alfred plea no treatment no registering as a sex offender or anything on the record to show they are guilty six months of probation that’s what he thinks is a fair crime for a brutal rape! Mark doesn’t believe in justice he believes in clearing off his desk and doesn’t want to be bothered he is tired and needs to be relieved of his duties with somebody who cares and somebody who doesn’t victim shame who doesn’t threaten the victim and who doesn’t make the victim feel disgraced an even lower at the lowest point in their life! Mark is definitely not the one we need to stop crime in our community we need somebody who will fight for all of us and that means even women who are raped and Mark is not the one please do not vote for him please vote for somebody who will fight for all of us and please vote to get this man out of office!
Landfill should be at a minimum.this incineration of household waste for power generation makes sense.we can't save every piece of land for recreation, farming etc,but this is definitely the best solution to household waste bulk.
That’s Shocking that the Liberals didn’t kneel
We in Norway, can use the ash from the garbage, to remix it in the asfalt we use for roads.. Maybe that is something you should think about ? :)
Yes, we are testing that now. We have built one road.
Fly ash from coal power plants is used in concrete in the USA
Way too much non magnetic metals left in the ash. What a waste.
We are changing that soon. We will start sorting out nonferrous and ferrous metals using a magnetic and eddy current system. It will be part of the materials recovery system before the trash is burnt.
Mask mandated while you the leadership does not follow the policy
The last board meeting was Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Effective Wednesday, August 4, 2021, it became a requirement for Olmsted County employees and visitors to wear facial coverings in Olmsted County government buildings.
By the way it is big money in England your missing $$$$$$.
How much project cost
How much trash is burned per day/week, and what percentage is that of all the trash collected in Rochester?
Thank you for the question. We apologize for the delayed response; we’ve had some difficulty receiving comment notifications from TH-cam. The OWEF has the capacity to process up to 400 tons of garbage per day. In 2018, the facility processed approximately 117,500 tons of garbage. This averages out to around 322 tons per day. All residential and commercial garbage collected at the curb in Olmsted County (and Dodge County) is brought to the OWEF.
Why not removing the metals from the ash before disposing it?
Great question; before the ash is buried, we use a large magnet attached to the bucket of an excavator to remove ferrous metal (iron). The extracted iron is then recycled. However, we encourage residents to recycle scrap metal-at the Olmsted County Recycling Center Plus or other scrap recycler-instead of throwing it in the garbage. Doing so reduces wear and tear on the Waste-to-Energy Facility and ensures non-ferrous metals (like aluminum) are recycled. In addition, we have looked at mechanically removing metals before the combustion process, but to date, it has been cost prohibitive.
During the land fill, maybe it is just this video but it dumped the ashes directly to the soil. Could this possibly generate leached liquid?
@@beckenbauer1974Back in the Eighties , Didn't they have a Technology to Netraulize Contaminated Soil !!?? Form Tip ! Landfill ! Sites !?
Thank you for the question. It’s important to clarify that the ash from the Olmsted Waste-to-Energy Facility is not dumped on the soil; it’s dumped within the ash disposal cells at the Kalmar Landfill. The ash cells at the Kalmar Landfill are engineered to effectively contain waste and preserve groundwater quality. The ash cells consist of: • A leachate collection system • A 60-millimeter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic liner • A 2.5-foot compacted clay barrier layer • Another 60-millimeter HDPD plastic liner • An additional 3-foot compacted clay barrier layer Water (from rain events) that percolates through ash will be captured in a leachate collection system. Leachate is pumped out and brought to the Water Reclamation Plant in Rochester for treatment.
