Sir thank you for this video, my question is that I am from Pakistan and I am not a practcing lawyer. I did Govt job as PA to District & Sessions Jugde for more than 8 years. In Pakistan no one can hold Bar license if he have govt job, so thats why I dont have. i did LLB in 2019 and LLM in 2024 from UK. can u guide me any option for me to exepmt SQE 1 atleast ?
Hi there, glad you like the videos. For exemptions, please refer to this page: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/qualified-lawyers/sqe-exemptions/
Will internships at law firms in a foreign country count? And part time experience as legal research assistant at university?
Hi there, your work experience as an intern at a law firm can count if you were interning in legal services and not for example administration of the law firm. Legal research assistant would not count, as your QWE would have to be recorded by SRA registered lawyer. Please refer to this page for more details: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/sqe/qualifying-work-experience-candidates/
@@futuresolicitor thank you for your response. I did go through the site but I am have a llb from India and LLM from US any experience I have had working in the legal space is with attorneys of these countries specifically. The legal research is also for an attorney in the US would that still count ? The link answers my questions but I’d like to know specifically for my case.
@@Vaiyrut If your role has not been recorded in a qualifying manner, your work experience will not count towards 2 years of QWE: "please make sure the solicitor of England and Wales or compliance officer for legal practice (COLP) we regulate are aware that they will need to confirm your QWE.". Source: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/sqe/qualifying-work-experience-candidates/registering-qualifying-work-experience/ If you are a qualified lawyer or solicitor in another jurisdiction, you might be able to get an exemption. But you didn't mention anything about this in your post.
Hey thanks for this video on how to become a solicitor, was very helpful! So I have a question regarding the preparation time for the SQE1&2 Exam. how long people normally prepare for these exams . What’s the normal preparation timeline?
Hi there, glad you are enjoying the videos. I believe, the length of preparation will depend on many factors of a given SQE candidate, such as: is there any existing knowledge a candidate has, full or part time commitment to SQE preparation and many other factors. But what we are seeing is that candidates are spending 3-6 months on preparation or sometime more. We are working on a detailed study plan/guide which will hopefully help candidates and consider all these "it depends" factors and suggest 2-3 different length approaches on how to prepare. Please signup here to receive an update from us once this guide is published: futuresolicitor.co.uk/sign-up/
Hi,sir can you tell me please about oisc ? Is there any specific qualification is required for it?
Hi there, we are not familiar with this topic, but please feel free to refer to gov.uk website.
Hello sir, Do social workers practicing in UK be considered as qualifying experience? I mean we do work with children and legal matters regarding children and families. Thanks in advance
Hi there, you would need to look into the nature of your work. Please refer to this page which inclined more information about the type of work you need to achieve QWE: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/sqe/qualifying-work-experience-candidates/
I'm an indian lawyer and after getting pass in sqe can i work in uk as solicitor?
With SQE exam passed, 2 years of QWE and successful SRA registration, you can practise law in England and Wales. But you would need to still find a firm to practise in and I believe you would need a work permit.
Does appearing for your own case in a court count as QWE? When I say appear, it means not appointing a lawyer but appearing in person before the court Silly question but still 😂
No, it would not count as QWE. The experience will need to take place under the supervision of SRA registered and qualified lawyer.
Question, what about U.S. based lawyers, do they need to do all of these QE 1 & 2? Exempt?
You will need to apply for an individual exemption. Check details here: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/qualified-lawyers/sqe-exemptions/

Is it easy to get a job after passing sqe ?
There are multiple factors involved in that process. We can't help with employment.
I'm a qualified lawyer in India . Currently practising under a senoir advocate in India . Do i get SQE 2 exemption ?
According to SRA, you will need to apply to an individual SQE2 exemption if you are an Advocate qualified in India. Please check out the article here for more details: futuresolicitor.co.uk/how-to-get-sqe-exemption-as-a-foreign-lawyer/

There are 13 subjects, not 12. Are you not counting legal services as a subject?

If i am a lawyer in Belgium, can I become a lawyer in the UK?
Yes if you are Advocaat or Avocat from Belgium, your qualification has an agreed SQE2 exemption. This only applies to lawyers who have qualified through a jurisdiction's full legal qualification route and are not cross-qualified from another jurisdiction. Refer to this link for the details: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/qualified-lawyers/sqe-exemptions/

Hi,hopefully you doing well. I want to know which course is better either OISC or SQE?
@@FarwaMujtaba-ys5zl OISC is a training to become a regulated immigration adviser. On the other hand, SQE is the exam that is required to become a qualified lawyer in England and Wales. The decision will depend on what you want to achieve.
Hi,sir I want to ask is it necessary to do sqe along oisc?
Either I wany want to know SQE is different criteria and oisc is different?
Hi, can foreign lawyers take the LPC to be exempt from the sqe1?

Hi, I worked as a graduate legal intern for a year at a software company. Does this qualify as qualifying work experience.
Hi there, your experience as a graduate legal intern at a software company may qualify as QWE if it involved performing tasks that gave you direct exposure to legal work under the supervision of a solicitor or a suitably qualified legal professional. Please refer to this page for more details: www.sra.org.uk/become-solicitor/sqe/qualifying-work-experience-candidates/

hello sir I am a GDL graduate from 2018 but have not been in the UK or been involved in law. I am thinking of changing career and returning to the UK to become a solicitor. What is the best path way for me to achieve this? What are these SQE preparation courses? I saw they so expensive. I am waiting for response from SRA and a few universities to get back to me about my questions too.
Since you graduated with a GDL in 2018, you have already completed a crucial step towards qualifying as a solicitor. The next step is to pass the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), which has been introduced as the universal qualifying exam for all solicitors in England and Wales, replacing the Legal Practice Course (LPC). Our SQE preparation courses are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to pass both stages of the SQE. More details here: futuresolicitor.co.uk

Hi, would working as a legal assistant in property law count as QWE?
Hi there, it could count as QWE as long as it meets the SRA's standards for good QWE. Please read more here: www.sra.org.uk/solicitors/guidance/meeting-standards-good-qualifying-work-experience/
Thank you. If this was a job I had a year ago and at a prior organisation would that be ok provided I asked the firm to confirm the QWE (and it meets the requirements) ?
