    Hey! I’m so glad I found this video randomly on my feed. I’m a college student that is looking to move to another state, but I’m a bit leery about doing that because it would be a big leap for me. Do you know anything about housesitting in New Jersey? I’d like to get to know different parts of the state, but I just don’t know how to tackle that because the state is so large.

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! I know a little about Jersey in general since it neighbors my home state, Pennsylvania, but I haven't done housesitting there yet. I recommend researching the area that calls to you first and then try to find housesits in that zone. Once you land one in NJ you can strike up a convo with the homeowner and locals. You can use the discount code to get $5 off your first year with the platform Im using. In addition look at videos from people that talk about the state. We have been doing this for Vermont as we are curious to visit. *my daughter is recommending searching Facebook market place for college students offering sublets in that area. She's a college student seeking to return. Also, try looking up @stephanieperry she is an inspiration when it comes to housesitting. I will definitely post more about it as I go and thanks so much for tuning in.😊

      As a single black woman, doing house sitting, do you have concerns about safety?

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @filmfestivalradio1 that's a great question and not really. We ask a lot of questions during the video chat before taking the job, check the home owners demeanor, ask to get a tour of the home, get to see the pets, and trust my intuition. A lot of the housesitting platforms ask for both the sitter and the owners to get vetted and do a background check, so that's helpful. Im also doing this with my daughter, so safety in numbers. However, there are a nice bit of black women that do it alone. I have a video coming about an uneasy housesitting interview that might be helpful, so stay tuned for that. And please feel free to ask anything you like as I want to be sure to address any concerns. Best Shereese💚🤗

      @filmfestivalradio1 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Snicoleliving-- Hello again. Thank you for answering so succinctly. I will stay tuned for your upcoming video. One more question. Do some of the house sitting opportunities offer comprehension?

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @filmfestivalradio1 not sure if you mean compensation or comprehension but I will address both .😊 I usually ask the homeowners to provide a welcome guide to insure accurate care for their pets and home. Things such as garbage days, how to handle mail, emergency contacts, and feeding times are usually listed. Getting paid isn't usually the norm as it's mainly an exchange service however through the platform I'm on you can set rates. So far I have been paid for one house sit but I always approach cost as a "suggestion". There are some housesitters that have created websites and built rapport over the years that they are able to charge. I plan to do more content on this topic as I go. Hope this helps

    when my partner and I first met, he ended up becoming homeless. not because he didn’t have a job, not because he was on any substances, not because of any other ignorant reason you can come up with. he was kicked out of his home & had to start over. he worked to the bone to get where we are now, and I’m so grateful to have stuck by his side through it. he has thrived. I know that’s not the reality for a lot of people in the US, seeing at the housing market is trash anymore, and there are people who can’t help because everything is expensive anymore. it was a very hard time for him. I can’t stand people who have this mindset that homelessness is ultimately the fault of the other person and that they’re “lazy”. it can happen to ANYONE.

    • @Snicoleliving

    We’ve had an influx in homeslessness where I live, but a lot of it is because people lost their homes when hurricane Ian came through. That and the taxes/insurance have gone sky high here and people can’t afford it forcing some out. It’s really sad. I agree-it’s not so cut and dry like people want to think. There was an 80 year old grandma who lost her home after Ian and they found her living in a makeshift tent in a brush thicket. Broke my heart.

      Unfortunately, homelessness is surging, and as you said, it's for a number of reasons, and it's not so cut and dry. It happening to those with even good paying jobs. The upsurge for basic living is the driving factor. Thank you for sharing 🤗

      Unfortunately, there are misconceptions about homelessness, and people utilize those justifications as reasons to be blatantly rude. The one thing I've come to terms with is that not everyone strives to be decent and that some prefer staying in ignorant bubbles instead of educating themselves and growing. I am sorry you are going through this ordeal, and I hope that the tides shift and better days come soon. I am doing my best to find resources, (practical and helpful resources) to share in hopes it can give those like yourself a breath of fresh air. Thanks for commenting 💜🦋

    There’s homeless people out there who have it better than me, a 20 year old who has worked 40 hrs a week in two different trades since I graduated at 17. Making enough to pay my bills. I have no friends, no free time. I’m miserable yet I KNOW homeless people who wake up with a smile on their face ever because they’re given enough money to go get high all day until the next come up. That’s what’s wrong with the world.

    • @kma12389
      @kma12389 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are 100% correct that some people CHOOSE homelessness and seem to "have it better" than those of us who work, but that isn't who she was talking about. Homeless people who HAVE to be homeless, hate homeless people who CHOOSE to be homeless too! There's a difference between being homeless and being a BUM. I pray that you don't lose sight of your dreams and goals. Keep building young man! A house doesn't look like a house after you've laid 1 brick. Don't lose sight of the bigger picture!! I'm proud of you! ❤

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately yes, there are some people capitalizing off of the emotional part of homelessness and also some that pretend they are homelessness. However considering recent economic events those people are far and few between. I get your anger and frustration and sounds like you have more burn out if anything. Are you looking for a moment to breathe? Do you wish to have more freedom to do the things that you want to do vs "have to do"? Like you I was angry at people that had nothing to do with how I felt about myself or the way my life was. I had to start asking myself hard questions to find a way out of what was making me "miserable ". Why are you really unhappy? What is the root cause? What would give you more sustenance to flow? What is it that you would rather be doing? It's okay to be angry but try to realize not every scenario marks the same trajectory or standard for everyone. Thanks for commenting 🦋💜

    so many homeless people suffer from mental illness and being homeless actually is what triggers the episodes of mental illness the most. Like war does to a soldier. So when these homeless people do get a chance to get off the streets it's difficult to function normally anywhere after that. My brother suffers from so much PTSD from being homeless and then being treated like garbage and then the cops have done so much abuse to him every single time he gets arrested he gets BEAT by these police like broken ribs busted nose etc and then he can never recoop recover from it he has to go right back to the streets again. Homelessness can do so much damage to someone physically mentally and emotionally and they never recover from it either.

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am so sorry to hear about your brother. My heart goes out to him and your family. Yes, I agree that going through these experiences adds emotional and mental weight, stirring an onslaught of mental disruption. More help is needed in the long run to find nit only stable housing but mental and emotional relief--a sense of normalcy. Thank you for sharing this story 🙏🏾 ❤

    So u work 3 jobs throughout the day a few hours in the am some in the pm? How is that better than the 9-5? Especially if you have children. Im a teacher so the schedule works out very well bc i basically have the almost identical time they are in school. I work in another district than them so its slightly different but 95% similar. Also mine is 745am-245pm so a bit different

    • @Snicoleliving
      @Snicoleliving หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome that you work less than 8 hours a day and have something that works best for you. For me personally, this way of working adds variety and minimizes boredom. It also helps considering my current lifestyle. My days also end around 2pm and with Uber I'm in control of my hours so there is no rigorous or set schedule. This makes wanting to work a little more appealing and less taxing. My suggestions are not everyone so with any information, take what resonates and leave the rest.

    ❤I pray you’re blessed with an apartment or home soon, 🙏🏽. 😢😢. Been there I understand and know how homelessness plays on your mentality. I was finally blessed just as you will be. You will have more than you could imagine. Blessings babygirl.
