There's so much happening at Airbnb related to Experiences, some of it well known, and some of it still being discovered by our industry. Great video! 👏
Thanks! There are many interesting insights, the one that I think is the most important is the shift in perception on traveling in a group (wasn't cool, now yes, because loneliness is the evil of our time). We always live in a hurry, always at work, always online. Traveling thus becomes an opportunity both to learn about new cultures and countries, and to meet new friends... offline. Dating apps have collapsed, but the need to find new friends (and partners) is the same or even more. WeRoad is the answer to this trend
Thanks for jumping in and adding to this conversation Paolo!
This is like a mix of A-team series TV, the lovely Dan Christian as a guest of Experience This ! One of my favorite podcast (for all kind of reasons/people)
Thanks so much! Very thoughtful.
Thanks so much for the invitation to join your Bruce, Lori and Christian! I really enjoyed this conversation and hope more people become aware of this important growth trend. 📈
ExperienceThis! Thank you, loved every moment of this episode!!
Appreciate that!
Terrific conversation! Pete is a great guest.
The distribution map for tours, activities, and attractions was interesting, Bruce. Another takeaway for me, just how many operators are still not connected!
Great episode!
4x conversion rate uplift? That is next level! Love your videos, keep them coming. I watch all of them :)
Love the hero/villain guide, Catherine, great advice and episode!
Lori hit on something important - a lot of consumers don't know where to book travel experiences. Viator, GetYourGuide, and Klook are not household names. and as was mentioned, 80% of experiences are not even bookable online yet. Also, travelers don't want to book everything separately at different companies either. Unfortunately, the travel industry is very siloed and fragmented, but if consumers could book it all at one company they would.
More fantastic quotes - "take $10bb worth of investment and build a $1bb company" - great panel!
"I am the only guy dumb enough to join two trip planning start ups". Best opening line of a travel panel session ever.🤣
Top show guys, great to hear "fresh thoughts" from you
This was a great show. Dynamic versus Variable. Where does surge pricing fit? Under dynamic.
Great video! As a woman in tech myself, it's inspiring to see other women making strides in the travel industry. What advice do you have for women looking to break into travel tech?
Enjoyed this! I use AirBnB a fair amount in my business and continue to get bookings since their pause on onboarding BTW. I think Bruce's comments at 09:20 were right on point and we cannot disregard THE BRAND of AirBnB and what a juggernaut they are in the travel industry. Lori's comments at 18:00 are spot on as well. The little wrap up at 32:00 is pretty sweet too. I agree they'll come back, connect to ResTek, probably up their commissions [sadly], and maybe offer more "tiqets" sales for a wide swatch of "experiences". Is it unthinkable that they could go after some other industries like Eventbrite & TicketMaster? I dunno. One thing is for sure, they're scaling and they're innovative!
Chris was in a mood like he had baby kangaroos for breakfast .... but hey, maybe someone on AirBnB experiences might offer that already too! ;) ;)
Great talks guys, cheers to all from Portugal!
Great chat! I missed Marc's presentation at Arival Berlin as I was networking with real live humans at that time. Everyone was talking about it though. I was able to catch it on Arival Insider Pro's replay though. I also saw the two of you present in a break-out session as well. BUT I DIG THIS EPISODE, it just further convinces me to NOT be afraid of the AI monster but get familiar with it, track the development and start implementing it bit by bit. CHEERS!
Thank you so much for mentioning NaviSavi as one of the leaders in short form video in the travel space!! To answer your questions - we feel everyone is an influencer, even your nextdoor neighbor. Travelers or even locals can upload up to three videos per experience they'd recommend (each video 30 sec max and unedited!) and once approved they earn rewards with NaviSavi! We verify every clip and make it bookable or lead to more information if it's just a point of interest. Note- there are no negative reviews - we aren't here to tear business down, we just upload content for users to see it for themselves and make their own decisions. Business can upload videos as well, they just have to fit the same format as our users! No produced content! Users and tour companies can even create playlists of their wishlists, itineraries, or even full day by day highlights of their tours! For businesses we currently take a 5% commission on all bookings through our direct links and our maps are highlighted with our partnership offers for additional hotels, restaurants and activities. We would rather pass that discount to the consumer and back into the business owner's pockets. We would be happy to come on a show and talk all things video and travel!! :) -NaviSavi
Good show guys!
I agree with Christian on group sizes. As soon as restrictions were lifted peopem stopped caring, we could see that on sold out events. What people want is different on what people are willing to pay for. Great input by Joe on corporate page, a tip for my notes.
Great insight from Dan, and really enjoying the Passion Travel wave.
Thank you so much for this initiative. The industry needs it
White Lotus, LOTR, Drink Masters, Somebody Feed Phil, passion-based travel, influencers...loved this episode and hearing from Dan about what Dharma is working on!
Great episode and lovely having Dan & Janelle join you!
Great chat, insights, and plenty to think about!
Great show.
