I’ve been climbing Scottish mountains for over 30 years. I’ve almost finished the 282 highest mountains in Scotland, collectively known as the Munros. As I’m getting closer to completing the Munros I thought I’d start making a series of walkthrough videos for all of the Munros.

Great video! We are doing this exact route in April all being well so it's really useful to have a good look at it first, thanks!
Cheers for this. Going to give it a go over winter.
I did this from the other direction cycle in 10km one deepish river crossing a really boggy section then a short but steep climb up the back left the bike after the bog
grand video (really mad music to begin with, quite sinister - i though you were going to have a snow shark sneak up behind you - but they are very rare these days). the central route you went up - is that the area that's quite prone to avalanche? i remember some plaque near there telling of a father and 2 sons killed by avalanche so would be good to know. glorious if windy weather you got there. i'm thinking of doing a wee winter trip in feb, this one, along with beinn dorian (pardon spelling) and ben lui - can you think of a few more accessible munros in the area that might be worth the pop. lovely vidoe once again and thanks for the share.
Hi, thanks for watching, i tried to match the music to the feeling at the start of a winter walk, especially as the upper section on the corrie can be difficult in heavy snow. Good reminder regarding avalanches. The upper corrie is an avalanche risk area. I've added the Scottish Avalanche Information Service to the description.
Terrific video Andy and taken on a beautiful day. I like the way you give clear instructions on the route which will be very helpful to those wanting to climb Stob Searg but are unsure of the best way. I enjoy the way up from Glen Etive which is grassy and not just as steep and gives no clue as to how magnificent the peak is until arrival at the bealach.
Glad you enjoyed it, I've always wanted to do the grassy slope from Glen Etive, even attempted it one time, starting from the Glencoe side carpark and walking round, gave up as it was taking forever to get round to the start!
A classic walk cheers Andy
Just wanted to say thank you. I did this walk today, so watched your video last night as a bit of prep. I was much more prepared for what lay ahead, although my mind will never remember how high these things are and how much effort it takes from the legs, especially with the snow😆 Fantastic route and views 😍
Preparing to do this walk in a couple of weeks time, this video helped a lot, showing what to look for and have a feel for the general terrain. Thank you, appreciate the effort creating this guide. 👍
Loved this video. Great commentary with loads of information and advice. Exactly the type of hillwalking video I like. Thank you
Great effort, that looked like a very tough hike. Thank you for sharing.
It was, the thick snow really has an impact! Thanks for watching.
Great video, that opening pan is stunning!
Thankfully the weather forecast was right and the views were stunning.
Fantastic views another cracking video I haven’t done this Munro yet don’t forget it’s a 10 to 11 hour drive from my house in South Wales lol😂 a few hours drive would be wonderful keep walking Butty 😅 cheers Andy
Thanks, definitely takes a bit more planning with a 10 hour drive!
That was a stunning view from the summit. Hoping to do it next year in summer conditions
very well played. showed how much more work these hills can be in the winter - so glad you got a fine view for your troubles. never realised there was a parking area - thanks for that. atb
Not icy enough for crampons I take it

That looked a tough one, I could almost feel the burn in the legs pushing through that snow but it certainly looked worth the effort. Thanks for for sharing👍👍
Thanks 👍, I could hear the pain in voice when I was editing! Was worth it for the views.
Well done my friend as always a very informative video great to go to if and when needed for a hiking route appreciate the effort you put into them cracking day you got ⛰️☀️👍
Thanks 👍
Superb video, appropriate speed and excellent information

Excellent a fantastic mountain lob for hat Corrie a special place thanks Andy
Would be a nice winter walk

@ good to know I was planning this circuit soon but no rush
Amazing shots. Thank you for sharing
Enjoying your guides Andy. Have used a few a reference now and hoping to get this one in tomorrow
Thanks for watching, hope you have good weather.
Nice walk I haven’t done this Munro so it was nice to see the route cheers Andy
these videos are excellent and extremely useful for planning.. thanks so much.
Thanks
Was up there before the paths, when the summit of Chaoruinn flipflopped between the south and middle tops. Took a while before that question was finally settled. Cornice between the two is infamous - three parties once fell through independently on one day. Teallach used to be surveyed at 913m and was even more illfrequented.
Was tempted to use the view of The Ben and the Grey Corries for the thumbnail!
Excellent views especially close up views of the BEN haven’t done these yet cheers mate
Great guide to the walk. Thanks for the effort 👌🏻
amazingly detailed video. Thank you. Me and my partner going up there in a week's time. Hoping to get a drone footage .😉
It's a beautiful part of the country, hope you get good weather
Brilliant video nice footage from the summit lots of Munro’s in all directions good weather always helps cheers Andy
Great video and great location not done any of the munros up there as yet but have done the Trainspotting Corbett Leum Uilleim twice the journey up on the train alone is very special thanks for sharing you chose a fantastic day 🚊 ⛺️ ☀️⛰️ ⛰️ ⛰️ 👍
Thanks, I was lucky that I was able to take a couple of days off work when I saw the weather forecast earlier in the week, not often possible. It's a stunning location and relatively easy walking for munros.
This has to be the best and most informative footage I have seen yet of liathach. Thankyou.
Liathach was one of the reasons I started the channel, some of the route guides and you tube videos didn't show or explain the difficulties of the ridge, which in good weather is not difficult. It's a totally different story in bad weather, as with most Munro walking.
Nice video and great weather to give the fantastic views from those Munro’s I stayed in the youth hostel when I did them and did the Corbett opposite the railway station the next day fond memories. Incidentally in Ralph Storers book ultimate guide to the Munro’s volume 3 central highlands he says that Carn Deargs one claim to fame is that it is by some measurements the most central Munro in the central highlands and hence in whole of Scotland…might be true worthy debate down pub thought I would share that info with you great viewpoint anyway cheers
grand decision - it narrows to a bit of a knife edge before the final peak and that would have been dodgy. i was up there a few weeks ago, lovely quiet valley walk in isn't it. by the time i came back it was dark and raining hard and that old corrugated shelter was a welcome site - lukewarm coffee with the bats.
😁 I will be back!
I've bivvied a couple of times on Sgòr Gaibhre, the first time 3 years ago on 21st June the longest day and woke up to a thick frost. Awesome.
It's a lovely part of the country
When you said mountain goat, I thought you were giving yourself a pep talk until a REAL goat showed up, OMG!!! I still haven't seen a live goat, haven't seen a hairy coo in the wild either (I met two of them in Glencoe visitor centre but that doesn't count)
I've seen goats from time to time, they're not that common.
Awesome mountain great video great weather you had cheers Andy
Thanks, I was saving that one for a good day.
Wow that was some walk , amazingly you made it back safe, thank you for taking us along from the couch 👏
Love the Mamores cracking mate
Brilliant nice views I have yet to do this Munro spit was interesting to see cheers
Thanks 👍
Great vid . I was up there in my E-Bike couple of weeks ago . Was nearly at the plateau and discovered I'd lost my phone . Batter back down the path and found it at that wee forest section. I'll need to go back and do it again .
Glad you found it, it's always a concern that I drop my phone, some of the heather sections would be almost impossible to find it in.
Any plans to do the glenshee 6?
Hi, if you're refering to the East Glenshee 6 (Cairn of Claise, Càrn an Tuirc, Creag Leacach, Glas Maol, Tolmount, Tom Buidhe) I did them over 2 walks - th-cam.com/video/sI_Is9g3j1k/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/m9ImbMZcOB4/w-d-xo.html
Another helpful video, thanks
Brilliant video, loved that & very helpful too cheers
Fantastic weather great views cheers
Many thanks
@@hikescotland2360aye thanks for the tips. Nice to see the regeneration of the forest🏴😎🏴🏴
Your approach of asking yourself what the viewer would be assisted by is a great strength of your videos. If I may I would like to share an experience I had last week weiwing the Linda Outdoors channel. She reported on and filmed her clearly competent climb of one of the great Mamores. While reading the comments left I noticed someone had accused her of placing them at risk because she had not adequately warned them of a particular descent and the overall challenge of the route. 😮 Now that route looks out on Ben Nevis, which should have been a hint! I felt very strongly that anyone who so fundamentally fails to understand their own responsibility, and the need for adaptability and their good judgement, really should not be on the munros at all. Linda Outdoors replied by stating that if they wanted that, the viewer should consult one of a series of munro guidebooks. So thx for just trying to be helpful to your fellow walkers. 👏👏 👏.JMO
@@justmyopiniontoday7548 I totally agree, people need to understand their own capabilities, learn how to use a map and compass and know when to turn back. I try to show the full route so people can be better informed before the do a walk and also to show off some of Scotland's amazing scenery for those that don't want or can't get out there.
@@hikescotland2360 Linda Outdoors has completed all 284, is experienced in mist, and frankly comfortable on summit ridges. When this viewer then went and did one of the top 10 munros - and afterwards effectively blamed Linda Outdoors for her competency... whoa. So we have to move on from this as the utube brings so much help and entertainment to our sport - that's what counts in the end. JMO.
Such a characterful ridge with features to enjoy all along - and that is before the views. I found your app 3D landscape viewing at the start so insightful. Must admit I've never paid the subscription to access those app features, and firstly rely upon a map and compass. So I have an extra reason to view your videos. 😊 Thx for posting.JMO
