Agatha Christie's Poirot - Opening Theme
The other versions that I've seen on youtube so far kinda sucked, so I decided to upload it myself
Probably one of the greatest show openings ever.

Kenneth Branagh is a great actor and director, but I can't buy him as Hercule Poirot. David Suchet IS the character. One of the most perfect characterizations of all time. Unbelievable that he never won an Emmy for the role.

That theme would be O.K. if it were just heard once, but it is played over and over and over throughout each episode. It is appalling! Gunning was a lousy arranger. He should have been locked in a room and made to watch "Hunter" for 24 hours. That has a theme, but the score for every episode is different and superb, and they don't nag you throughout with the same doodly-doo lick. I met the saxophone player at Ronnie Scott's in London in 1974. His name is Stan Sultzman. I think he mainly plays tenor saxophone. Nice guy. The poor score is not his fault.

I always wondered what the sword and dot in the logo were supposed to be. The dot is probably the moon, but what of the sword? Why is it just floating there?

I mean Sherlock is awesome detective but I still prefer Poirot. Sherlock is great with evidence but Poirot is a psychologist of a master class.

I love the song as well as the art style. The piano sound betrays a bit when it was made -- sounds a bit like Korg Trinity or some other synth from that age.

Why did you delete your comment on Vlad Vexler's channel? Nevertheless here's my reaction. You're funny. I don't know how you've gathered this image of me, but it is inaccurate, to an extent. I am a hermit, but I have traveled. I am from a christian upbringing but I'm definitly an atheist now. I don't think postmodernism or western thought is the be-all end-all. I think paganism and witchcraft is very interesting. Obviously that is still western. But if you're interested in that stuff a bunch of diffrent youtubers are creating a series on neoplatonism, starting with the channel "Let's Talk Religion". But yes I'm very interested in "thinking outside the box", or to be more accurate, undertanding where the boxes that we've created begin and end so we know wether thinking outside them would be beneficial, or if the boxes that we've created are still necessary for the functioning of our current societal framework. Let's talk about some of the vocabulary you've chosen to illustrate your understanding. "magical ability for self-transcendance" there's that idea of magic which is associated with the wizards of paganism. Self-transcendance is part of it, but it's not only about the development of the self, it's also about the interplay of the self with the tribe, roles within the tribe, how the devlopment of individualism has changed the roles that we can choose, etc. But yes I do think the idea of origional sin, and really the idea of good vs evil, should be retired. The soul, paradise, all that stuff is outmoded. But yea as far as people who are obsessed with objectivity, which I do talk to a lot, are usually using it to justify their antiquated beliefs. I haven't gotten to deep into eastern philosophy, although I do know there is a lot of valuable stuff there. One of my favorite psychologists, Carl Jung has a lot of eastern influences. I think Alan Watts is great. And believe it or not, I do like some of what Jordan Peterson says. In fact he's really the one that got me interesed in thinking about thinking. But ultimately I agree with you that I do have a responsibility to harness a lot of the information I've digested and put in into a format that's digestable for the layman. More and more people are responding emotionally to what I have to say. I used to be just shouting into the void because I grew up very isolated. My obsession with information has saved me from offing myself, and I think when I am in a stable position that I will be able to create a maketable personality and brand to promote ideas.
