Sometimes I hike and sometimes I travel. Here you can find my hiking videos from Estonia, Portugal, Spain and USA. Bringing you the raw emotions and definitely no filter views of my sleepy faces in the mornings and tiredness in the evenings and so much more.

Everything I have learnt during my first year of working remotely & living in 7 different countries.
One year ago today I started with my digital nomad journey. In this one year I have been to Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Bali/Indonesia, Singapur and Sri Lanka. I have learnt quite a lot and made a short conclusion of the main points.

Welcome to the rant part of this channel. I recorded this video right after everything happened while I was taking a bus from Weligama to Ahangama. I have felt these kind of feelings already for the last few weeks and always prefer trains over the buses wherever possible.

While traveling in Sri Lanka as a digital nomad, I was really tempted to skip Unawatuna, as most of the people said that it is really touristic. However, I still decided to make a stop as I was passing by this place anyway. It turned out to be one of my favorite days in Sri Lanka until now. I was hiking around and enjoying the village roads and hiking trails. I stayed at Pearl Villa.

Storytime: Why I am not going to fly with Wizz Air again ✈️
มุมมอง 179หลายเดือนก่อน
I have been flying with budget airlines for years and generally I do not complain easily. This time with Wizz Air was different. The way they treated their customers gave me a bad freeling for the whole 5-hour flight and I could not wait it to be over. However, luckily my next flight was with one of my favorites, Etihad. Thaks guys! Definitley will be choosing to fly with Etihad whenever possible.

After traveling full time for 7 months, it was time to go back home. I have been spending quite a lot of time in the nature, but Kõrvemaa area is definitely one of my favorites as you can really walk for days there without seeing no farm houses or villages :)
I just did not want to travel any more.

Have you been there?
it is not fair to say "dont believe locals" . They just try to help you. You should be sure to know where you want to go. Good Luck on your next trip
Sometimes they tend to not say when they do not know something. Most of the times it’s fine. This has been my observation in 20 years of traveling. However, at the moment in Sri Lanka and here I have had a great experience with asking help/ info from locals.
Nice beach!
There is no lack of beaches in Sri Lanka 😊

Yep. But some other airlines can also remain polite while making their money ☀️
hi, i come over to chiang mai since you are staying there we should meet
Hi! I’m already in Sri Lanka, you can see my latest video ☀️
Cody is a beast! Love that guy!
Yep he is ☀️
Thanks for the vid ! What do you think happens if I overstay 3-4 days ? Only fine involved or also blacklisted from cambodia ? They take in seriously or just pay the fine & all good ?
According to my research, the answer is like that: "For overstays of less than 30 days you just pay at passport control when getting stamped out, even though there are signs saying "No money to be paid here" (or something along those lines). $10 per day, no questions asked." However, according to what I read, where the risk is: if you are stopped by police during the time of staying without visa, you might face some tougher consequences. However, I reccommend always to google and look for the very last updates.
Keep it up! ✌️
Thanks! 😊

Hello from East Tennessee in the USA. We are fans since the beginning of your PCT through hike. After a break in your videos we are glad to see that you are ok and doing well. We always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the comment 😊 I was just little bit burnt out of traveling and video making, but now I feel again like I want to make videos 😊
as a Polish dude I'm fascinated by Estonia..... are you closer to Russia, or Finland.... your language sounds so Nordic
Thanks for the comment! Estonian language is closest to Finnish, we can understand quite a bit and it’s easy to learn it for us. Also Hungarian is in our language tree, but we can not understand it, just the grammat is similar.
@@walkingestonian been listening to Artur Rehi and whenever he spoke Estonian, he never sounded Slavic, hence my question..... but you throwing in a Hungarian twist to Estonian grammar makes me even more interested in how the f... could that happen..... an accident, migration..... or an accident due to migration
@@czarekp3552 Chat GPT helped me out here: 1. Common Ancestry: Both Estonian and Hungarian languages can trace their roots back to a common ancestral language, Proto-Uralic, which is believed to have been spoken around 6,000 years ago in the region near the Ural Mountains. 2. Finno-Ugric Branch: The Uralic language family is divided into two main branches: the Finno-Permic (or Finnic) branch and the Ugric branch. Estonian is part of the Finnic subgroup within the Finno-Permic branch, while Hungarian is part of the Ugric subgroup. This means that while they share a distant common ancestry, the two languages diverged early in their development. 3. Linguistic Features: Despite the differences that have accumulated over time, Estonian and Hungarian still share some linguistic features that hint at their common origin. These features include similarities in grammatical structures, such as the use of agglutination (forming words and grammatical forms by adding affixes to a base), vowel harmony, and certain core vocabulary elements. 4. Geographical Separation: The significant geographical separation and different historical influences have led to substantial divergence. Estonian has been influenced by neighboring Baltic and Germanic languages, while Hungarian has been influenced by Turkic, Slavic, and Germanic languages, among others.

Great video Janika. I have a question if you decide to do another Q&A in the future. How has thru hiking influenced your packing decisions for your extended travels in Asia? It looks like you are travelling with carry on luggage only. How have you found that experience?
Hello! Thanks for a good question :) I can answer here as the next Q&A will take some time. I used to travel for work for 10 years to different countries in Africa, Asia and Europe and very quickly I learnt that I actually only need one small backpack. So I never had any other luggage than 22-30 litres backpack on my worktrips. Also, when hiking, I try to pack lightly and of course the thru hike took it to the next level as I actually bought light gear and saved a lot of weight like that. It was almost ridiculous how few things I carried by the end of my PCT hike. After the thru hike I realised even more how few things we actually need and how much easier it makes the life. So I have been traveling for 6 months with my 22 litre backpack and it's great. I can easily move around and walk everywhere if I want, I am not the "slave" of my big bag which has to be dropped off somewhere first. Also, they flights are way cheaper, faster and stress free with carry on only. However, I am bringing everything I need I am carrying even several luxury items. In general, I have too much stuff and will be sending some back to Estonia with my friend from Singapore very soon. Once you start traveling with carry on only, it is pretty difficult to go back to loads of luggage :)
Love your vids as always and glad that you’re back on the creative mood! Thanks for giving different and new viewpoints about this side in Bali. I feel like that is something that people haven’t mentioned much in terms of the digital nomad world over there 🎉
Thanks! Yes, it has been an experience. Overall it seems that a lot of people want to live in Bali and their remote work goal is to live here. But I understood that I love traveling 😊 so I keep going
