Welcome all to Travel is Sweet.
Our names are Carolyn and Andrew Deagle a married couple from the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. We fell in love with traveling in 2004 and in 2018 changed our lifestyle and begun our lives as full time international house and pet sitters. Having sold our unit, car and most of our possessions we now travel full time. We decided to create our travel blog, also a house and pet sitting blog to share our experiences and journeys with you and hopefully give you some valuable tips and tricks. Share some beautiful photos, fun videos and entertaining stories we have gained in our travels over the years.
We have been fortunate to travel to four continents and sixteen countries at present. The USA and Canada have been our main ports. However, we have just completed stops in the UK, Europe and Thailand. Our motto of travel is sweet dream it, experience it, treasure it certainly rings true for us.

Not what we wanted a Bush Fire!!!
Bush fires are a common occurrence in the bush, but this is our first one that we have experience on our off grid property. Not exactly what you want to come home too. How did we handle i? Did we lose anything from the fire? Are we safe?

Having a mobile home is quite an advantage on rural property that is subject to bushfire. That makes all rural properties I suspect.
@@Bennyboy-dog yep it certainly does.
Wow, I'm so happy you two are ok. Prayers
@susanyoung6490 thanks mum 😁
Hi Andrew, I just wanted to say that I’m so glad that you, Carolyn and your property are all okay. Chat soon buddy… Rook
@rookie1501 thanks Rookie 😊
Praying for you, also my friends as well
@susanyoung6490 thank you 😊
An odd comment one year on man but, what gauge and length of screw did you use? I am about to do this very thing
@scottjenkinson8889 for memory they we 6g x 20mm I think 🤔. It had to be enough to go through flyscreen frame and then the window frame The window frame thickness I think was 3mm. Hope this helps 🙂.
@@OffGridisSweet muchos gracias mate, helps immensely, cheers
We've moved into a old bus to keep a roof over our heads. I bought a gl90 from facebook marketplace and installed it in the bus. So far so good (we've only been living in the bus just over a week), though I feel some sort of built in agitator might help it work better. I'll probably use a dedicated stick to stir it up a bit. haha
Hi Andrew how did you go about getting your bus changed from school bus to camper/ Motorhome? I’ve just brought a Rosa and I’m lost in all the info on getting rego . I’ve talked to an engineer in Dalby and he can plate it to a 4 seater but from this point I’m lost 😩
@stevejones8308 once you get to 4 seater. If you are using gas you will have to get it certified, same if you are using 240v. Make sure both batteries and gas bottles are sealed off to the inside of the bus and vented to the outside. Then work on convert your bus. Once it is finished and your have the gas and electrical certification you will need and certifier to plate it as a motorhome and then you can registered as a motorhome. You can find what is need for a motorhome online. Hope this gives you a bit of a hand. Good luck with your conversion 🙂 would love to see your progress Cheers Andrew
Hi do you still have the seats?
@@RaquelBarkho sorry 😞 no I don't.

@davidcermak6050 hey I will check and get measurements for you when I get home later this week.

@davidcermak6050 it looks like it is about 168-170mm in diameter. Hope this helps.

@milly_and_me thank you 😊. Carolyn loves the kettle too.
Yes the dried Apricots blended would be yummo
Awesome videos mate really helpful and hope you are enjoying the bus! Just building one now and using your videos all the time. How many m2 of the 10mm foil insulation did you use all up?
@BayLandscapes thanks for the comments. For memory it was 3 rolls 😊
@@OffGridisSweet what was the length and width as here in Nz there are so many options. Cheers for reply mate
@@BayLandscapes it was a roll of 12 square metres. 12m x 1m roll. I bought 3 rolls 😊

Where do u ordered it
@@Yajogueye22 here is the link www.auto-airconditioners.com/truck-air-conditioner/roof-top-ac-for-truck.html 😊
Im being ridiculously indecisive with my aircon decisions, My current thought is to remove the original one now. use that 24v one you have at the front for driving. and use a mini split aircon at the back. Can i ask is there alot of wind noise from that aircon unit at that front?, and does old Rosa's alternator produce enough power to power it when the cars running. i dont want to drain my batteries running the cabin aircon. thanks mate. cant get enough of your videos.
Hey @spencestud there no wind noise that we hear. We only run the unit when we are driving as such no problems with the battery. We use the dometic harrier plus air-conditioning when we are parked. Hope this helps 🙂. Thanks for watching the videos 👍👊🙂
@TravelisSweet yeh that's all I want it for is when driving, just didn't know if it would take a lot of power from the buses main battery, assuming you have it connected to that and not that leisure batteries?. Do you also run a dc to dc charger from the main batts/leisure battery too?. Don't wanna overload alternator. Thanks for a speedy response.
@spencestud yep it's connected to bus battery with no dramas. Yes have dc to dc charger from bus to home battery with no issues either 🙂
Invention? 😂😂😂
Sir, Do you know why your channel is not growing?
Another great video 😊. What camera system did you choose in the end.
Looks like a SafetyDave system? I could be wrong.

This stuff is SO much cheaper, do you think it will hold up in the heat, not melt in to a mess like some say could happen?. if not sod it il but 2 rolls of it like you did. great video as always mate.
@spencestud we were up in Hervey Bay over summer and it was very hot 🔥 🥵. We had no issues at all 🙂. Glad you are like the videos 😀 👍
Great watch thankyou, so if you was to do it all again, woukd you still rip out the old aircon and do this?.
Yes probably I think 🤔 😅 😕
Haha I just can't decide, I want to get rid of all that weight, have the extra head room above the bed and use the space for gas tanks underneath once the condenser is out...... but do I want two aircons and lost roof space 😅😢
@@spencestud yep it's a decision you have to make early in the build. 🫤
I know this is a few years later, but how did you find staying cool up there at the front when you only have an after market aircon halfway down the bus?.
We added a Chinese truck air conditioner which does th trick 🙂. There is a video later on about it. 😁
@@OffGridisSweet amazing thankyou I will search for the video.
Good tip. Thank you.

Did you get it custom made for the bus or did you use a caravan one.
Hi Dawn yest i went into Aussie travellers and the made and fitted it while i waited. 🙂
Why is the tank so far from where the buildings are
It's is because we will be moving the container over near the water tank 😁👌
Hey Andrew, what about: DeaglesBushcraft Or AussieBushcrafters… Bushcraft = Bushcraft is the use and practice of skills, thereby acquiring and developing knowledge and understanding, in order to survive and thrive in a natural environment. 😊
Thanks Rookie interesting though hey. 😊
"Life is sweet" I can see a solar panel, battery and inverter next to that pump. Nice work btw. I suppose you will eventually take the water to the bus in a trench, or are there greater plans afoot?
Thanks Ben 😁. Or maybe a portable power station. Or maybe the bus to the water tank 🤔 😁
@@OffGridisSweet Looking forward to see whichever route you take.
Travel is sweet off-grid homestead.
Thanks 😁
Oh ok 👍
Ok, good videos, but really, you should let others run your power cables. That is terrible.
Thanks I think 🤔 😅 😄
Hi Andrew. Why do you have 2 x 48V batteries and 1 x 12 V battery?
Hi Joanne the 48v batteries run all the 240v appliances and the 12v does the 12v appliances. Auto electrician said this would work well for our needs. 😊
God bless u for making this video man!!
your most welcome 😁

Hi Andrew and Carolyn. Wow! Big plans. All the very best. It was nice to meet your family at church over Easter.
Yep certainly is 😁. Mum said you preached a good message 👍.
Sooooo did you find the leaks?
Yep there was a few they are all fixed up now. We had plenty of rain so it helped as find them all 😀
Not a snake fan.
Me neither 🙂
That is scary!
awesome! - we just installed a 3rd tank, very similar method, on our property... can never have too much water! :D how many acres you got there btw ? love to see the Rosa in view!
We have 20 acres here. Always good to have lots of water 😀
Hey Andrew great to have you back. Any plan to drill a water well? There are some small electric or diesel drilling rigs they can go like +30 meters deep worth checkin em up
Thanks Hussain it has been a couple of busy months. We have looked into get a water well but the quotes were 35k and needed to go down at least 150m if not more. So a bit out of our price range ☹️😥
Nice start. I wonder when you will start getting machinery to support you while you work? A plank on a power tool box and a circular saw is a start I suppose. Can you share how much the 21k litres of water cost (including delivery)?
Ben I'm also wondering when I will get machinery 😁. I would love some as soon as I can but as with everything it comes down to $$ and what is the most important. The price on the 25000 litre water tank with delivery was $2840. The 21000 litres of potable water was $640.
@@OffGridisSweetYes, shame you have to be a huge youtuber before you can get the gear to make you a huge youtuber. I figured the water would be around the $600 mark. You got around $150 - $200 of water the rest would be for delivery I reckon. I hope you are loving what you are doing. Its going to be a while before youtube fesses up with some reasonable returns.
@BenMitro yep it is a shame but maybe 1 day I will make some money. Have been doing videos for nearly 3 and half years and still haven't got to the basic requirements to start earning any money. But hopefully this year 😁
@@OffGridisSweetTheir rationale, I think, is broken. If they were to change settings and encourage the smaller channels, I reckon all would benefit.
@@Bennyboy-dog agree 👍 🙂
So interesting ❤
