I'm actually looking to do the same swap. I've got a 2008 E90 with the N46 engine. Did you use the M52 ECU for your swap, and is it simply a matter of swapping out the ECU and wiring, or are there additional steps involved
I used m54 ecu and m54 engine wiring Harnes, repined most od them from n46 ecu plug to m54 ecu plug, also 8 pin plug need some changes. Im not sure how it loooks on e90.

Doing n42b20 to m52tu, do you perhaps have some sort of diagram of wiring for ecu by any chance?
Doing n42b20 to m52/54 its almost plug & play. N46 to m52/54 need to repin ecu wires but n42 to m54 is just one or two wires to repin and its good to go.

How much it is cost?
I made it by myself but parts in our country were like 500 $ - 600$, i had engine on my yard, so you have to add engine price. Its like 1000$ to 1200 $ in parts with engine cost

Yes! I'm swapping an m54b30 into my 06 320i
Nice, 06, then u have same ecu as mine - n46 engine. So u will have to do good work with ms43 ecu wiring.
And can you explain how your work with ecu?
