Museum of Illusions - Split, Croatia
After walking around the old town, it was nice to escape the heat. This was a fun place for the kids and us too.

Split Old Town Walking Tour 4K

The Split old town is a delightful labyrinth of alleys, stairs and arches. We let the kids navigate and followed our noses for a while, eventually having lunch in the middle of it. There were some tourist attractions such as the Game of Thrones museum, but we were happy to just walk around.

After we got off the ferry from Italy, we walked along the shoreline, then north up Marmontova ul. which looked like a shopping area. Then headed east as we circled back towards the old town, picking up ice-cream as we went.

With Bologna behind us, we took the train to Ancona. It was just a short stop in order to catch the ferry over to Croatia.

This was our only full day in Bologna, so we made the most of it and explored the city centre by foot. La Piccola Venezia was the first stop, passing the Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Pietro, then Piazza del Nettuno. Later we enjoyed pasta lunch in a narrow and lively alleyway full of people and music. We passed through an upmarket mall before ending up at Torre Lambertini.

After a long day on the train from Lausanne, we arrived in Bologna. We dropped off some laundry and then went walking to find dinner. The kids enjoyed a lively busker with an accordion.

On the way from Lausanne to Bologna, we stopped briefly at Zurich and Milan. Milan was the briefest of stops - just changing from one train to another in the space of about 10 minutes. The train station was beautiful and worthy of a short video, though.

We had a short stopover to change trains in Zürich, so we walked around aimlessly for around an hour. The next stop is Milan, and then Bologna. The video ends looking around the busy train station.
Lausanne to Bologna Train Journey

The next destination was Bologna in Italy. We took the train from Lausanne, through the mountains to Zurich first. We had a short stop over there. Then to Milan to change trains. Then to Bologna. It was a long day, but the view and service were incredible. What a great trip.

We were always on the lookout for educational activities for the kids. This one wasn't far from our accommodation. It looks a bit odd from the outside, and it was a little small, but it had some neat activities. I enjoyed the sea chart triangulation. There was a nice park with a large playground nearby too.

We continue to walk around Lausanne, following a map of the city's landmarks. A friendly local guides us to one of the churches in the labyrinth of streets. After that we return to a playground to look for my son's headphones that he left behind.

Now on our way from France to Croatia via train, we stop at the hill side city of Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The video starts at the famous Escaliers du Marché.

I managed to get some time without the family, and used it to take a walking tour sans les enfants. Shortly after shooting the video I went into a church which had been converted into a library, and it started raining heavily. This is why the thumbnail of the video features a wet scene.

After finding the laundromat we continued walking toward the central shopping area. More people were coming out, and it was getting busier. There was quite a lot of wind during filming.

From Paris we went by train to Dijon, in the east of France. It felt pretty sleepy the next morning while we were seeking out a laundry. Later on the shops opened, people came out, and it was quite lovely.
