Pasture Reclamation With Vintage Equipment
That’s no cold start that’s a resurrection
I miss setting in the seat watching the ground turn over, I could watch it all day long.
@@jeffharper7579 it is enjoyable for sure. Especially when everything is set right
Nice work 👍
Nice very nice
Another nice video.
I love to see old iron working, especially the Ford tractors as I have a few myself. Nice video, nice job also on the cultivating.
Great job with the camera setup
Sure better be paying attention getting shots like that
Being as our "Hay Season" runs from Jan 1st to Dec 31 consectively every year,, there is No End and No beginning... 24/7/365
As much ground as im trying to cover being one man. It’s looking like mines going to be that way
When I was kid we used to just toss those .
Can be dangerous with a cover. But very dangerous without.. we never ran one without a cover.
The cover on there definitely has seen its better days. Its crazy what a new one costs but gonna have to bite the bullet
Can't wait to get started myself. 👍
I was glad to get the started. Come the end of the year ill be glad to be done lol
agri rules!!
Looking good 👍
Beautiful Ford 4000, great video
Nice shot. I’m coming to Americus today to pickup a vintage Ford tractor and a ditchwitch
Well If you need help with that ford tractor Ive had pretty good practice working on mine 😂.
@@SHfarms 1968-75 (3rd gen)Ford 4000 with bucket. Dropped a battery in it and fired her off! Drove her onto trailer and brought her home.
@@PatrickShivers my 4000 is a 68 and the 2000 is a 72 I believe. The 4000 for it’s size is pretty stout. Things rated to pick up around 3200 on the 3 point. 4020 is only 3800
That looks awful red clay ish
Really ain’t no ish to it. Augered 4 foot deep for fence post and it’s just as red at the bottom as the top. It grows good just hard to work
Where are you located
South Ga. and it’s a 4000
@@SHfarms Thank you
I live outside of birmingham alabama
I love the tractor is it a five thousand
4000. Number shows up at the 0:23 mark.
Got to use whatever works. Sometimes it’s new stuff and sometimes its old stuff
This is true. I believe mainly it’s just making the best of what you have. Id be curious to see how that lemken does on this 30 minute red clay. Darn shame it would take you all day to get here though 😂
Just subscribed! Love to see those fords putting in the work.
Appreciate the Subscription!
Beautiful 4000
We call it 30 minute dirt. There’s 30 minutes when it’s neither to wet or to dry
If yall are like us it’s been on the wetter side here lately
Looking good. Perfect moisture.
Aint no 8530 but it’s getting to job done
@@SHfarms 🤣
3 tines? How deep? Who made the subsoiler?
4 and KMC. Depth varied. Some spots only 12-14” but other spots were easily 24”
Seems like a massive disc for that tractor, but seems to pull it just fine!
It’s definitely a big disc. But the older tractors always did seem to have more spunk than the newer ones
Need a translator,jeez.
Its not all the way down
He’s carrying it if it was to the hubs he’d most definitely need more mules in the front
That bedder was all she wanted.
Yeah it’s a pretty good load especially in 5th gear. If we had the tires full of water like we used to and pull it in 4th. It’ll come on when it then
Get after it! 💪🏼
That was a fun day that day. Not to often Id get to do that
Loving it. If possible I want to come watch it work this fall.
Assuming everything turns out well with the peanut crop, Id love to have you
Nice disk. What is the name of it.
Its a Rome Disc
I need to find me one of these 🤔
They’re still around. I found a 4 row local for $350 and split it in half to make two 2 rows they do an amazing job just having to use it more proactively instead of reactively
@@SHfarms 10-4
When you hit the hill climb and started blowing black exhaust I wanted to grunt like Tim the tool man Taylor 😂
🤣 I wasn’t grunting but I sure was grinning. Of course that foot throttle will normally do that for you especially when they are running right
@@SHfarms I love the foot throttle.
I do as well. Always wondered they didn’t have them in the sound guard series
Looks like it’s doing a pretty good job on that second pass. Wait for a rain now and you’ll be able to run that disc axle deep.
Gonna have to get the 4020 to go that deep Patrick. Its a pretty good load on that 4000
Is that a 7000?
I wish it was. Just a smooth running 4000
Also, great vintage equipment demonstration
Been on there as long as I’ve been around. Uses tines similar to what you said about the john deere field cultivator. Its an International Plow. Does a good job
I haven’t seen a switch plow with a drag like that. It’s similar to the newest Lemken jewul plows with press wheel drag.
Keep shorts like this coming. That’s how you generate views and build followers
I’ve noticed that shorts seem to get way more views for some reason. I appreciate your responses and comments. Thank you Patrick. -Sean
@@SHfarms shorts of vintage tractors or of tillage do very well.
I shouldn’t have trouble considering all my equipment is vintage
@@SHfarms 😂
That’s a clean “old style” 4020. I also have an old style, but mine is PowerShift. My brother-in-law has a “new style.” My Grandpa bought both of them new in 1968 & 1969.
We have two old styles. 65 and 66 model. This is the 65 in the video. The 66 my great grandfather and my papa brought in 68 with a Rome Harrow( the one used in the pasture video) for $6500 tractor had roughly 500 hours on it
That’s a major project
Its gonna be a good one for sure. Been under shelter ever since it was parked.
I may have asked before, where are you located? That is some serious red clay. Are you drilling winter grazing, cover crop, or grain to harvest?.
We’re located in the big city of Ellaville Ga, right above Americus. I suppose you could say winter crazing and cover crop. Pasture was particularly rough in this area so it was worked up to help smooth it. Drilled Rye Grass to just getting something growing in it so it doesn’t wash. But the few cattle we have will get to graze it at some point. -Sean
@@SHfarms I’m somewhat familiar with the area. I’m an hour and half south west of you. I was subsoiling wheat ground ahead of this rain. Ran until after 9pm friday night and took back off before 7am Saturday….and ran all day. Thankfully got it done before the ran got here
Worked out Well for me as well. Got everything drilled before the rain came
I was there. I live just a few miles away. This show gets better and bigger every ear. I think this was the third year of the event. The peanut thrashing seems to get rained out every time but they can move it inside one of the buildings or big open arenas. Hope to be back next year...
Same with us we’re not far at all. I believe thay said this is the 5th year of doing it. Thinking about taking our old ford tractors next year
I enjoyed the video. What were you filming with? We need some shots with camera in the field and the tractor passing by.
Thank you Patrick. I enjoy yours as well. It was just my IPhone. I had intentions of getting those on that day but I was trying to beat the weather.
@@SHfarms I understand that. Next time, even if you are alone, you can prop the cell phone up and then shorten that individual clip (so it doesn’t show you walking away from camera and back to camera before and after the action shot.). I often film shorts by propping the cell on top of a bucket or ladder rung
Actually have a few nails drove in a fence post at the edge of the field for that very purpose. Hopefully i can get some when i go back and fertilize it - Sean
Didn't know you were supposed to farm back and forth with an offset thought it was round and round so it wouldn't ridge it.
You are correct. I had actually just started in the middle on the second pass over the field. That’s why i was cutting right back next to my previous pass
Why dose that look so fun
Lucky
That's right
