There's actually 2 different versions of this film. The directors cut has Kate in the beginning of the film in 1876 and Stuart is Leopold's great grandson. In the theatrical cut Leopold's connection with Stuart is cut and Kate didn't go back until near the end of the film. Personally I prefer the directors cut than the theatrical cut.

I really love this film. Hugh Jackman stoled the entire film for me with his charismatic personality. It reminded me of Enchanted, which came out 7 years later. I always loved Meg Ryan since the 90s so that's the reason I watched it. Her charcther in this film was so bitter until the hour mark. Again this film was Hugh Jackman's film. I even developed a huge crush on him since then.

In his article _My Meeting with Bakshi, or, Goodbye Cool World,_ Steve Moore, a man who worked on Rover Dangerfield, confirmed that Ralph Bakshi tried to convince him to work on CW. At that point, "William" (Willem) Dafoe had been tapped to play Jack Deebs. After seeing how CW ended up, as well as the trailer for The Last Days of Coney Island, Steve has absolutely no regrets about denying Bakshi's request. He described Bakshi's pitched as "like listening to Garrison Keillor read a soft porn script," so CW was presumably still in the R-rated stage at that point. He went onto say, "I have a lot of industry friends who went on to work on Cool World, and their horror stories confirmed my instincts to be correct. People were fired and rehired on a daily basis. Ralph seemed to relish working in chaos." If the Blu-ray reviews are anything to go by, Basinger and Mancuso Jr. were down with Bakshi's vision, but the studio wanted something Roger Rabbit-esque, which meant watering it down for a mainstream audience. Then a regime change caused it to get swept under the rug.

The directed Ralph Bakshi wanted Cool World as as an animated horror film about an underground cartoonist who fathers an illegitimate half-human half-cartoon daughter, who hates herself for what she is and travels to the real world to track down her human father and tries to kill him that's is a very Cool Story but sadly it never happen because the producer Frank Mancuso, Jr., son of Paramount president Frank Mancuso, Sr., had the screenplay rewritten in secret, and gave Bakshi a new screenplay and he was very upset and didn't wanted do the film them Mancuso, Sr threatened Bakshi with a lawsuit if he refused to complete the film, and that's what happen, I really hope their be reboot of Cool World using Bakshi's original screenplay
