I've never seen an approach to practicing that goes through the process of deconstructing each phrase by omitting one note at a time. It makes a lot of sense to me the more that I think about it. And I can't believe I never thought to try to build up a phrase by starting from the end of and gradually working my way back to the beginning of it. Is this a common method that your own teacher taught you? Or did you learn this process intuitively from years of practice?

Nice playing, but it sounds like either the viola or the piano are out of tune!

WOW, this is like, one of the ONLY few videos I've seen of classical on an electric violin, and it doesn't sound like total ass. Most electric violin videos are lame pop covers, or flashy "got talent" style versions of overrated and overplayed classical pieces. This sets things apart!

Ysaye's 4th Violin Sonata (1st Movement) sounds amazing on the 7 string Fretted Viper Violin. Chuck transposed some passages down an Octave (or 2) to take advantage of the instrument's 6 Octave Range. In the opening section the Viper starts out on the clean signal which is a sound that's Acoustic-like but not entirely Acoustic, it's a sound that's roughly the same volume as a Regular Violin then it leads into something bigger.

Rudolf Haken I love Chuck Bontrager's interpretation of Eugène Ysaÿe's 4th Violin Sonata (1st Movement) & because he was playing it on the 7 string Fretted Violin, he transposed some passages up (or down) an octave (sometimes 2 or more) to take advantage of its full 6 Octave Range. The frets on a Fretted Viper Violin are filed down nearly flush w/ the fretboard so that it feels more organic. They act as a handy grid that shows you where all the notes are, this way you can see where to put your fingers when you're playing music.
