I've NEGLECTIC MY PLANT! Giving my Paraiso Verde some support... and taking a propagation cutting?
มุมมอง 127หลายเดือนก่อน
I've waiting a few days too long to water my Paraiso Verde and now it's looking droopy. I finally water the plant but now it needs some sort of support for the time being until I can pop this plant up onto a moss pole. Upon further inspection I notice a part of the plant that I can propagate so I've gone ahead and took a cutting. thanks for watching!

I have 2 of these but they're not on poles so Imma need you to do a follow up on this beauty
I use the glass jar method with sphagnum to propagate Hoya. They love the added moisture. I also have used it for thirstier philodendron. And for both I just leave them in the jar and add a little fertilizer when I water.
I haven't seen the need for fertilizer in my case but yes I'm positive it helps a bit. Keep up the good work!
Anyone here willing to send me any starters? I lost my collection a couple years ago when moving and trying to start collection again.
Sphagnum moss is great; it can be used in reviving plants. I use it when slip-potting bonsai.
nice!
I just received one for free in an online plant order. It was definitely a wishlist plant. I'm excited to watch her grow. Thanks for the tips!
free is great! better than mine for $49 lol. It's totally fine though, it still gives me joy and I hope yours does the same. glad I could help and thanks for watching!
I plan on getting a Tortum
I need a video like this ASAP
By the way super cool video . Wish I could steal your script 🤪I’m sure it is the uniqueness. Much love and keep growing!

Hello, I am from Indonesia. Two days ago, I dealt with buying two pots of Ring of Fire Varigata for my house. They will arrive maybe a day after tomorrow. And seeing in youtube, not many plantfluencers come with this plant. I thought for a very long time, that this is an extremely beautiful plant. 🫶🏻🇮🇩
@@wiedesignarch Aloha from Hawaii! Glad to see someone like you commenting from Indonesia. I’d like to say I totally agree that not many people post about this plant and it’s very beautiful indeed. The more and more I care for this plant I realize how easy it is to take care of and it just takes a little time and learning, and it will give you the best results overall! I’m happy to see other people enjoying this plant and realizing how underrated it really is for being a variegated philodendron. I hope that your plants arrive in great condition and that it brings you joy as much as it does to me! Thanks for watching!! 😁🤙🏽
the roots died because they could not get enough oxygen, because the soil held to much water. Placing it in a pot without drainage feels counter intuitive.
@@jasf1226 no, this method in the video is moss propagation. Works perfectly fine. You can view the results in my latest video. The previous fail was most likely due to over watering or root shock while it was potted in an airy soil mixture while trying to stay moist on a moss pole as shown in the beginning of the clip. Pot had more than enough drainage
Do you got a grow light or you using the all powerful sun
@@DDHop all powerful sun! 😂Considering grow lights soon!

*Not sponsored* Horizon forbidden west triggered my plant opsession. Seeing the plants in their "natural" environment was amazing. That's why I got my first Horizon plants, before I knew they were monstera and croton plant. lol

How do u keep the coco chips wet or soaked
Good question. One thing I forgot to mention is that this is strictly for support and I don’t usually worry about wetting it. Just using this as a support as if using a wooden pole but yes it is probably still ideal to wet it every once in a while. My goal here is not so much to encourage too much aerial root growth. Just something to allow it to climb on. If I had used sphagnum moss then I would keep moist for that particular reason but I don’t want the aerial roots to grow too crazy and if so I’d cut it every so often if they ever got way too long.
@@Plantdudejamesso there’s no nutrients from the coco husks just support? Have you ever mixed coco chips and moss in a pole?
Dang you do like some philodendron
Love me some philodendrons! Beautiful plants and easiest for me to care for. Not only that but the added benefit of providing more oxygen around our home

That was the first thing I thought when u said, "digging in ya nose." Yuck, bat guano.
🤣bat guano. I always think of Ace Ventura.
Love the video, nice cup of coffee and some repotting I don't have to do! 💚 Regarding the Rhaphidophora, you are not the first youtuber struggling with it. It has a reputation of "easy" fast growing plant, but it seems to be as tricky as peace lily for some people. I was choosing between it and Phil. Florida, but now I guess it's Philodendron Florida Green for the win.
Thanks so much! And cup of coffee? I think I know what you mean lol Also the tetrasperma is doing great in this soil mixture. I will give updates soon but overall I would still prefer the Florida over it 😅😆
@@Plantdudejames Would love to see updates! Tetrasperma and Florida are fairly similar to me, style of growth, speed and even shape a little bit. Florida looks like it has huge fenestrations, even though they are not fenestrations at all 😄
The monstera corner >>>
Do you turn your plant every week. Cause there are leaves on all sides❤❤
I actually stopped rotating it for a while now and it’s concentrated more on one side. This plant actually had two main stems that are growing on both sides of the pole. It’s about time to extend it soon 😅
I think you have the wrong vid title... Baby Thai has someone to look up to!

😂😂😂😂 you almost got me, James.

Mix on some coco coir.. straight peat moss is awful! Gets hydrophobic in no time!
@@marvinbrock960 I totally agree! That’s why the soil mixture in this pot contains a regular cactus succulent soil mix that has small perlite and added orchid bark. No peat moss. Only thing moss is the sphagnum used in the pole 🤙🏽🤙🏽
So do you wet the moss?
@@tammyanderson7847 yes, sorry this isn’t a full instructional, but you do wet the moss before placing it in the wire mesh to make it easier to work with.
@@Plantdudejames no problem thanks so much for the response!!!
@@tammyanderson7847 no worries! Glad to help. That’s what I’m here for 👊🏽

That fish tank ❤
New subscriber! For a cutting tool. Use Milwaukee long blade cutting sheers $25. They are in the Tool Hardware section. You will slice through the wire mesh in minutes. Also, consider cheap garden burlap to line the pole as you dump the soil in less will fall out, and it helps retain moisture and dirt. It's cheap. Plus, the pole looks better. If you need a photo of my moss pole, let me know.
Please use wet perlite. It can cause damage to lungs if inhaled
I got one for $20 from my local nursery and it’s already pushing 3 new leaves under a cheap grow light, I love this plant!!! I used potting soil with worm castings and perlite and I water with aquarium water only. I kept the original soil it came in and filled in the pot with new soil under and around it.
$20 is not bad at all and for what your doing to the plant, those are all great options to keep it maintained. These plants are very hardy and can grow with little to no added nutrients, so aquarium water is perfect along with the soil mixture. As long as those roots don’t rot everything will be fine! Great job 👊🏽
@@Plantdudejames i found out now after obsessively watching plant videos for these past 2 weeks it is better to use a chunkier well draining mix for philodendrons so i will get some mollys and repot to that eventually, until then ill avoid overwatering. since my first comment i bought both a 2.5 foot wide golden crocodile and a white princess oops! between those and the pothos and alocasia i already had a corner of my room is slowly turning into a jungle 🤣I am struggling with fungus gnats so im hoping to switch my potting mix soon, i've just been squishing them with my finger or clapping them out of the air on sight and it seems like im keeping the numbers down
Query: whats the best indoor plant that doesn’t require sun? My wife is looking to purchase one for her office. Any suggestions?
What up bro! Alright, So plants would still require some sort of light but as far as recommendations, the ones that can tolerate the least amount of light, I'd recommend either a ZZ plant or even a snake plant. If she needs, they do make small grow lights that would help in her favor! Hope this helps!
That is the perfect time to see how long can you hold your breath. :D
I’ll pass out holding it in before I get any exposure lol 😮💨😂
Love the shelves... 😍 Now there's even more space for some new plants!

thank you so much for this tutorial !
@@sakuthelittlecherry1174 no problem! Glad you could benefit from this and enjoyed the video!
You DO need teamwork to make those poles :D
Which is better - plastic moss pole or DIY chicken coop moss pole?
@@MegalomaniaHere honestly just depends on the kind of plant that you’re putting on it. I like that the plastic moss poles have a longer watering interval although I do enjoy the diy pole for the fact that you can allow a plant to climb up not just straight but also around it especially for long aerial roots or just for plants that you want to fill up on like a pothos.
@@Plantdudejames Thanks for the reply, I went for a DIY poles and it's a bit much to water, but my humidity levels are up! 😅
Seasonal flavours and Bluey all time of the year!
Hi Plant Dude! I'm planing on getting a Gloriosum, a video of tips, tricks, and how toos would be appreciated. Your plant looks healthy and triving, so what ever you are doing you are doing right! 😁
I love my Gloriosum. She got spider mites and spread them to everyone in her section of the house, so now she’s more isolated. While crawlers drive me a little crazy (I don’t have the space), she’s the only one I’ve kept. Lol- using rocks! I use them for everything! Pushing a plant how I want it to grow, holding up planks that lean after watering, decorations! I learned the hard way too that the substrate mix has to be aerated. In one batch I got fungus gnats so bad! But I put a load of diatomaceous earth in it and it just about killed them instantly.
thought I was alone in this! I stress shop for plants too. I was just thinking about going when I'm off work. LOL!

There are more bugs hiding in the cut :O
What you saw there was dried cataphyll but I did peel that back and found smaller amounts of mealy bugs under it and I did decide to check and spray down the rest of the plant! She’s doing great and hasn’t had anything since then 😅
@@Plantdudejames That's great to hear! 😁 No sneaky mealy bugs on that plant
