DAG Spotlight: The Clay Studio
Founded in 1974, The Clay Studio began as a stepping-stone for emerging artists, offering affordable studio space and shared ceramics facilities. After fifty years, The Clay Studio has effectively broadened the reach of contemporary ceramics for professional artists and learners of all ages through classes, residency programs, exhibitions, and public engagement with communities in and around Philadelphia.
In 2022, DIGSAU architects designed a new facility for The Clay Studio that gives the organization a distinct identity and presence in a burgeoning arts district. Crafted from light-colored brick and orange-glazed tiles, the building supports a vibrant education program, exhibitions, and community events. Join architects Mark Sanderson, FAIA, and Jesse Mainwaring, AIA, as they discuss this purposeful, flexible building that draws from Philadelphia’s early 20th-century industrial brickwork and the expressive plasticity of ceramic arts.

Bracali's sketches show possible development for this site. Developers are "chomping at the bit" to bid on this property. But the new design should be done in collaboration with ALL the shareholders. This is a big headwind for any potential bidder.

Outstanding meeting. Very informative. Continue the commitment to enlarge the tent and inclusiveness. For such a time as this. Knowledge and understanding of different cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, etc, are important. There are events in history that should be preserved whether people view it as good or bad. History that we don't want to forget so the it is not repeated ever again. The key is telling the true story and including true contributions of all people and nations. Thank you all and I appreciate you. Congratulations Betty Turner, love you. Great group of people. Blessings.
