Videos around Baldner farm we collect and farm with mostly Deere equiptment. Trying to preserve the heritage of farming one piece of equiptment at a time

Gotta love the 70 D. Good starting technique for a change.
Awesome job wish mine looked that good.
@@zac7682 it can with a checkbook open
ok if put rims on turned in wards if posdible
your tires will be backwards
I like the 70 with regular starter way less problems and with todays batteries they start great
Looks like a 12 ft like my uncles had, and I now have. We had a 16 ft on our farm. 4 ft per gang.
Back when a 40 acre field was a good sized field!
good old machines
The tractor wheel isn't supposed to run in the furrow on a one way disc plough. The steering/drawbar on the plough should be set so the back wheel/dual run's next to the furrow.
Sweet tractor
If for sure a bucket list tractor
Sweet 4230 D NF open station!
One of my favorites
Make sure you hang on to that one
@@jeffgrindle4311 I’ve decided it has a permanent home unless someone offers me a certain number but it’s a 77 4230 open station powershift. 600 from the last one made
Real professional job!..well done my friend!..🙏🏻
We enjoyed this one a lot
Nice plow!
Man I love see vintage equipment still at work
It’s still on the farm but is retired from the sprayer. The wc was the first tractor on our farm
good video. I have a question for fine grain (quinoa), how much RPM does the rotor have to be? greetings..
It's amazing how that old tractor plows along with so little effort, despite it's age. Just goes to show you how they built things to last back then. That plow is no slouch either.
It’s a slightly modified 4020 but I agree they keep going
Really nice work. Beautiful video. Thanks for letting us in.
I miss doing this kind of stuff😞. I have ran anything from a John Deere a to a Stiger 4 wheel drive. I liked the ih 1066 the best but ran a Deere 4020 with a cab that was not bad either.. I miss the smell of fresh turned earth but at least I live in hay country😊
looks like you got it all dialed in and doing a great job. the almost lost art of moldboarding. keep it up Andrew!!
I never get bored seeing footage like this. I wish I knew back then how much I am interested in farms and the equipment.
Nice job on the 4020 engine. I'd sure consider buying a power shift gasser and doing the same swap.
Plow is doing a nice job
Hi Andrew I plan to put the same turbo setup on my 4010 how did you fit the turbo under the hood so well?
The manifold is milled on an angle tipping the turbo inward
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 Ah, do you remember the exact numbers on how you machined it
@@David-tq6ze I do not we just snuck up till it fit b I’m guessing 3-4 degrees
Just like my daddy's! My dad was always on the 3020 and pawpaw was on the 4010 and I was always on the fender of one or the other. Precious memories!
1200????????id kill to give that for one
I call our 4020 the LEGIIT - Loud Evil Green Tractor. It has a round smokestack, and is too loud without earplugs. (it's also the tractor my cousin died on, hence the evil part).
Did you sand blast or wire brush the tractors paint down? Or did you paint that standard white paint over it? I’m just wondering as I’m restoring my 806 as well.
A more simple way to shell corn !!!!! th-cam.com/video/EEVvlA0TChc/w-d-xo.html I built this sheller from a New Idea unit. All electric except the sheller itself ! Its a charm !!!!!!! Cobs and husks.......all go together !!! Less work and great bedding !
Ours was a 1963 and had 18.4 - 34 rubber. It had a 4020 kit in it of course and it was dyno'd at Deere at 101 horse. Dad sure was proud
Would love to own that beauty!
👍👍👍
That implement does an excellent job.
I'd love to find one of these
When that 460 come out your John Deeres were still two cylinders hand clutch old timer machines at that time the 460 was just so superior to all tractors and modern and sleek . You could say Farmall forced other manufactures to play catch up so you green fans owe the red ones some due help innovate your Deeres into the 20th century....lol
Then the 3010-4010 put ih into the first loosing spot till today huh
The 237 was an amazing machine last of the John Deere mounted pickers, they came out in 1964 but fit older tractors and even other brands. Over 40 different tractors of six different makes to be exact. I have the 1/16 Ertyl precision classics series #14 of the 4020 with the 237 picker on it and it’s absolutely magnificent it occupies a real place of honor in my collection.
Have you ever tested how much diesel it burns while cutting
I have not but I know it’s thirsty
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 thanks for your reply, maybe that's the only issue with the iron Horses line
@@parchechuletaovero9507 I mostly notice fuel consumption wide open on the road in the field I feel It’s tolerable
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 if you make a test on diesel consumption , please share it on you tube.
I love the videos and am actually working on my own tractor. It’s a 4010 diesel and was wanting to put a turbo on it. How exactly to you get the exhaust manifold machined?
I have sourced a John Deere turbo manifold that came off a 4230 with a turbo. I am pretty sure it’s the same one you have on your 4020.
@@David-tq6ze are you sure it’s not an M&W kit
you have it set about right . i use to set the disc that goes in the furrow about a half of disc
what number is that tiller 1100? those 1100 tillers would go in the ground good did a great job
you have the tiller set good cant see where the furrow wheel was
I believe it’s a 1200
Man can that guy plow straight or what 😮
Recommendations for decal kit? Went way too far on a 2640, time to wrap it up properly!
This kit is from K&K not much available from Deere as far as the big stuff. I did use some of the special ones if Deere had then
That 3 bottom is an easy pull for that tractor. It is digging deep.
Aren't Synchro ranges pretty rare on a 4040?
My guess is it’s very uncommon for a 1982
How Many engine revs do you need to achieve 540 rpm no the pto
@@parchechuletaovero9507 it’s like 2000 I think
Those drive tires will likely last the life of tractor they made tirers better back then thicker and better rubber and the old 45 bar angle is a good look keep them youl be glad you did that's all goodnight
Excuse me for asking, is the belt pulley for the hammers standard on a JD and MF feed grinders?? Or is it just on this one? Would love to use 2 tractors for feed grinding. One to power the mixer and the 2nd to power the pulley for the hammers. Just asking though.
I’d think it’s pretty standard for each
Nice! Working on one myself, mechanical stuff for now, paint before too long. Heard you mention decal company, but can’t find them. Could I get a link or contact info please?
K&K antiques I believe
Had a 1960 3010 at the place I used to work at. When it was tuned in it was a good running tractor but you had to do a ton of work to keep it running smooth. I remember the Venturi in the carb broke apart. I hated the shifting gate, yes I understood it but it was a pain in the ass to shift. 3 point was strong but wasn’t very useful outside of running a grass seeder. Keeping in perspective it was a good tractor for it’s time. Compared to what we have today it sucks and is more work than what it’s worth.
Looks smooth tractor sounds good thanks for the video k see ep up the good work
I was wondering what the weed seed sack would have in it.....we pulled ours with a 3010 gas
We had the 42 with the 9' grain head....thought we'd died and gone to heaven !
