RIP Sue. Great loss
Have they started rebuilding this pub yet I wonder. Might just have a look over the weekend.
what is used to make the green goo at the end?
Knocked down but they've been ordered to rebuild it from its rubble, brick by brick, and be fined for every piece that's missing.
Yes so they should.
DONELAN TRADING LIMITED own the Punch Bowl and have been ordered to rebuild it
One of my favorite Lancashire tales
Brilliant! Well done!
What an amazing man!
Absolute travesty that The Punch Bowl was knocked down
A pub that no longer exists.
They have been ordered to rebuild it just seen it in the paper.
That's the one that was nocked down a few days ago
Bravo great story love them :)
Have just watched Roger Leach's "story" about Ned King at the Punch Bowl. Sorry Roger but it makes me laugh. You say Dick Turpin and Ned arrived in 1739 and Ned continued his trade of highway robbery based at the Punch Bowl for 2 years(till 1741) until he was shot and hung. If you had bothered to look at the date stone over the front door you would have noticed the Punch Bowl wasn't built until 1793 , some 52 years later!
To be fair Jane, many buildings are a lot older than the date over the door, which can often refer to a later renovation. In particular, many timber-framed buildings were fronted in stone during the 17th and 18th centuries, while the much older core of the building remained. The White Bull in Ribchester is a case in point - it has a date of 1706 over a blocked doorway, with further worn datestone of the 1600s over another. The foundations of the building may well be many centuries older.
i used to work there in the 70s,as a waiter, and lived upstairs in the bedroom you can see near the hanging punchbowl hanging board that you see in the vidio, bit scary some nights when on my own
@@stannelson8463 My first job on leaving school was as a commis chef at the Punch July '68 - Feb '69, my room was on the other side of the corridor next to the office door (leading onto the gallery). There was a stuffed lion's head on the wall above the gallery in the main restaurant. Brilliant times and Christmas was very special, totally traditional
@@MrSpangle6564 yes i think john was manager at the time cant remeber last name
@@buffscrag71 very true the building has changes over the centuries
THIS FILM HAS TO BE SOME OF ROGERS MOST COMPLECATED YET PROFFESIONAL WORK
I MUST SAY THIS FILM IS REAL HISTORY SOME FOUR WEEKS LATER THIS FABULOUS PUB CLOSED FOR THE LAST TIME. ROGERS CAMERA WORK EXCELLENT
do you know who owns the punchbowl now ???
Well produced video. Malcolm
They used to do this all the time in Rawtenstall
omni directional microphone, remember to turn it around when speaking into it as it captures sound from the front only great for keeping out wind, but bad for interviewers at the back end... sounds like a old wireless
You know I always spelt it Townly . doh
