I live 2 blocks from the old sp depot in Colfax...... Things have changed here but the depot is still standing and restored

does anyone know who/what company did the install of the wireless control/sound of those Backyard Train Co. Southern Pacific GP units? They look and sound incredible.

Oh man this took me on a journey! We came to America from Australia in 2006 for the trianual meeting, this was one of our stops. I remember this place so well, there was a car show on the same day in the park and it was so hot that day! 105° from memory, we got sunburnt like we were at home and spent a lot of time under the water misters. It's amazing to see whats changed and whats the same. Thanks for the video!

I think this is the place I went to when I was a child sometime around 1997 or so I want to say? Did they used to fire up the trains and have rides? I seem to recall riding in a passenger car behind a steam train once there. Or maybe they just let us on the car, I can't remember.

What a treat! I have been fortunate to ride behind the full size #700, now owned by the citizens of Portland Oregon. What a superb memory and smooth ride. I will do it again if I ever get the chance.

P&W should've kept it like this, nowadays the trains barely go over 10mph on most of the branch, even parts that used to be 25mph outside Philomath got reduced to just 10mph.

How long is that SP&S locomotive and tender and how much does it weigh.

Yep, this is old! The siding that crosses the road is long gone. I had relatives in Albany, so my brother and I (in our early teens) would explore these sets of rails.

This is my favorite place to watch trains, it’s a shame I wasn’t alive to see the big blue. But at least got the heritage! This is unbelievably beautiful footage. Thank you for these!!!

Roy was awesome. My mom took care of his wife on hospice and he invited me over to show me his live steam engine and run it around his house. I was 17 or 18 at the time. Ended up working for BNSF for 15yrs as a locomotive engineer, before they lost their minds with their attendance policy. I remember he donated the engine to willow creek in memory of his wife. Was a good time. Wealth of knowledge that I wish I had tried to learn from more. From one rail to another 🫡.
