During the study of the construction of wheatstone bridge we find that two inbuilt known resistances ( P and Q ) are there and there is one variable resistance (R) and we are to find out the unknown resistance (X).
There is a galvanometer attached in the middle. During the derivation of the theory we found, when there is no current through the galvanometer (which is known as the balanced condition),Q/P = X/R.
Hence with the knowledge of P, Q and R we can evaluate X.
