I document my fitness journey through videos about running, cycling, and an active healthy lifestyle.
I tried ROUVY race with 5000+ people (becoming a cyclist ep. 4)
Today, I’m about to ride on the indoor bike with a multiple-stage winner at the Tour de France, because I’ll be using ROUVY and I'm going to join this live social ride with Wout van Aert with over 5,000 other riders which is going to be epic, mostly because I’ve only experienced race with like 250 people at most. So, I’m pretty stoked about that and I’m also really curious what it will look like in general. Come join me for today's ride.

My Brutally Honest Marathon Journey (road to 3:30 marathon ep. 1)
มุมมอง 1.1K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
One year ago I started running and 5 months later in Prague, I attempted to run my first marathon. I finished the race in 4:28 minutes and the race itself was an incredible experience. However, I also made a lot of mistakes, and the overall learning curve this first year has been brutally rewarding. So, this year I decided that I’m going to run my second marathon and my high-level goal will be ...
My Best Running DRONE Shots from 2024 (CINEMATIC)
มุมมอง 16128 วันที่ผ่านมา
I created a short video of my favourite drone shots from running in 2024. All of them were shot on DJI Mavic Mini 4 Pro. It was also my first year flying with a drone, so next year I aim to get much better shots as there is still space to improve my running and filming skills. :-) Thanks for watching and for all the support in my first year on TH-cam. It means a lot.
My First ROUVY Race: WINTER route (becoming a cyclist ep. 4)

In today's video, I will most likely be crushed and humbled at my first live race at the ROUVY indoor cycling app. Since it's the 22nd of December I've chosen the Winter Wonderland route in Hilchenbach, Germany. Enjoy the video where I document another step of my authentic journey of becoming a cyclist. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful Christmas time with your loved ones! 0:00 INTRO ...
HUMBLED at my first FTP test (becoming a cyclist ep. 3)

I decided to document my first FTP test to find out my cycling fitness score as a beginner. I used the ramp test method in the ROUVY indoor cycling app and it was a truly humbling experience as the start was pretty slow, but only until the test's second phase, which humbled me. I tried INDOOR CYCLING with ROUVY (becoming a cyclist ep. 2)
มุมมอง 8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I built my indoor cycling setup and tried the most realistic cycling app, ROUVY, for the first time. In this video, I document the whole process from the first launch of the ROUVY app, its settings, customization, and route collection, and then I ride the whole route with my real-time feelings. It was super fun and I think ROUVY is also great for beginner cyclists, so everyone can try it. Thank...

Great video! I am also contemplating running in Tromso this midsummer, but for the half marathon :)
I appreciate you, Gustavo! And nice one, when exactly? :)
Just getting started with indoor training and really enjoy your content. just the motivation that I need. looking forward to your future videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. Have fun on your own indoor cycling journey.🙌
your setup is missing a fan, stops u from overheating and u can ride longer
Agree, I'm currently looking for a fan. Do you have any solid recommendation, please?
@ i just use a simple table fan, but there are also pricey smart fans u can use
What was your biggest indoor cycling event (how many people)? p.s. Recommendations for good indoor fans are welcome here.🙌
The content you present in your videos is very interesting! However, for better understanding, could you add Polish to the translation? That would be nice. regards, Piotr
Thank you - it means a lot! I added Polish among other languages, so you should be able to use at least the auto-translate feature under the subtitles tab. I can't really do much more from my end 😏
Can you provide product numbers from decathlon?😊
Sure! Hopefully, that will work for you: Socks - 8615607 Ultralight jersey - 8576895 Jersey that I wear on the video - 8738552
Thank you very much, I use things from Decathlon myself and I think they are of a very high standard.
Enjoying your intro to Rouvy vids. Have been on FulGaz for years (Zwift before that), and just this morning we all received an email that Rouvy is buying FulGaz. So, I need to learn this soon. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot! And yeah, I've seen the news - they also just partnered with IRONMAN too, so official IRONMAN routes are coming to Rouvy as well. I hope you will enjoy your Rouvy rides.🙌
looks awesome but not a big community
Have you tried racing on TrainingPeaks Virtual yet? I much prefer it over the other platforms and it is much cheaper than Zwift
I haven't tried it - maybe in the future
Who's also training for a marathon this year and WHERE?🙌
Not yet, starting with a 15k for my first goal ever…
@@luizc4345 That is awesome! Good luck!
Training for my first marathon in March in Ghent, hopefully also sub 3h30
@@MrSmokedTurkey Nice one, good luck!!
great video and editing :) excited to see the journey! Congrats on the content
Really appreciate your support - thank you! Will do my best 🙌
You got to fluff your plant, dude. The leaves are all up for shipping purposes. Spend about 15 minutes arranging leaves and that plant will look spectacular...... for a fake plant... I mean, you put it in the video, so there's my two cents, LOL. I just started Rouvy myself.
It would have been so wide and spacy though... and it's far more natural in the opposite corner anyway. Enjoy ROUVY riding!🙌
And yes, it's a plant, not a flower :D
@@mowax74 ah, you're right. Thanks!
Good luck, Dom!
Thank you so much, Lenka! Will do my best!
Pure pain
Haha, the last push was mayhem for me
I have that same table. Works great and looks good
Agree, it’s really great!
Keep cycling bro! It’s the best. Perhaps we can have a ride on Zwift soon?
Thanks! I'm using ROUVY, so maybe in the future when (if) I'll try Zwift.🙌
How do you do this ?
You first record in M-LOG format on the camera (which is that flat/white footage). And then in the editing software (DaVinci in my case) you adjust the colors. This process can be also speed up by presets etc., so you then basically "copy and paste" the color profile. Hope that helps!
Been enjoying your cycling journey, keep it up :)
Thanks a lot - appreciate it!🙌
First
how much did decathlon pay you for this obvious advert?
Haha, I just tried to be super transparent with my approach - that’s all. Never did any brand deal or collab. Cheers!
If it wasn't decathlon that setup from other brands would go over 10k easily
Really helpful Video! And you seem like a cool guy. 😮☺️ thank you so much
Thanks so much!!🙌
when getting into this sport let me tell you... you dont need the shoes, you dont need the table and lastly you dont need a brand new bike for indoor cycling so to keep the costs down this is the way to go.
100% agree! I’m not telling that buying new equipment is the only way to go. Cheers!
They are clipless shoes so you kinda need them if you want to use clipless pedals but the trainer etc is a bit pointless.
When you start riding, the image is very jerky - is this because you are streaming? This would be a show-stopper for me.
Yes, it’s because I was streaming (and not downloading the route beforehand) and also the screen recording isn’t always that smooth. So, otherwise I face no issues like that at all. 🙌
More movement = more happiness. Simple as that. Years back, I used to spend end of the year with drinks, but last year I realised the beauty of just being myself and enjoying time with friends doing what we love. I don’t judge anyone else drinking or doing whatever… I’m just grateful for my own journey that led me to this place where I feel the best. Enjoy your New Year’s Eve too!🙌 #newyearsrun #friendsoverdrinks #activehealthylifestyle #winterrunning #winterhiking #snowrun #healthiswealth

Thanks!
The Ramp Lite is designed for people who weigh 70 kg or less. The incremental increases are 10 Watts every minute. You should have used the regular Ramp test which increases by 20 Watts every minute, until failure. This information is available on the Rouvy website.
Thanks! And yes, I’ll do a regular one in the near furure for sure.
Well done! To increase your performance you can add a cooling fan’👍🏻
Thank you! Proper fan is definitely on my shop list 🙌
love the videos!
Thanks a lot!🙌
Have you ever racing indoors? I highly recommend it as a high intensity training stimulus (and for lots of fun)! TrainingPeaks Virtual is by far the best platform for RACING and until March, it is FREE 🎉 So super easy to just give it a try
Dude! You're not supposed to complete the ramp! This one most likely underestimated your FTP. Pick the other, harder ramp test next time, or do the classic 20 minute test.
Yep, I'm aware of that now thanks to other folks in the comments too. Thanks a lot anyway, I'll doo a proper FTP test in the next 5-6 weeks again.🙌
Get a big fan that moves a lot of air. You will do better.
Already on my shop list, thanks!
Your fit looks extremely stretched out. Even if you were a racer, this looks weird. You should have bent elbows when your hands rest on the mid part of the hoods. Try moving the saddle forward a bit (and up to compensate) but you may also need a shorter stem. Also, make sure both of your axles are the same distance off the ground (the front axle looks higher than the rear in your setup video).
Thank you for pointing this out-I really appreciate it! I will try to move the saddle at first and then see how it feels. It can also be my fault, as I'm not used to sitting on the bike, so maybe I'm sitting way too much in the back of my saddle. Anyway, I'll definitely dive deeper into my posture.🙌
@@DomRosenberg Of course - no fault of your own, especially since you're just starting out. But a good fit will make your experience a lot more enjoyable and more likely to keep you in the sport. It will also help hedge from injury.
@@jonsteiner8515 noted and thanks again, I highly appreciate your insights.
Just wanna say that dont fully trust the ramp test. You can use it as reference at first but the "real" FTP should be your 20 minute effort multiplied by 95%. Your video are wonderful, Keep goin'
Yep, I'm planning to do a proper FTP test in the next 5-6 weeks. Thanks a lot!!
Shouldnt the indoor trainer adjust the resistance automatically? You shouldnt be able to push more W than it sets
Well, I think it sets the required intensity for the trainer which needs to be held to sustain the 100 % effort required to pass each level of the test. But IMHO if one wants to push even more there's no limit "on the other side".
Norwegian watching here, not bad pronunciation 😅
Haha, thanks - I did my best!😃
I was excited about the video until you pulled out chatgippitty
Great job man supers effort for a first FTP. 👏Next time would recommend doing the regular not lite so you can really find your max because with this one you finished the whole thing whereas in the ramp test you should go till failure. Just a recommendation not trying to be mean.
Thanks so much! Yeah, I will do the regular one after those 5-6 weeks then (and definitely include rest-day the day before 😃).
Good job man, keep the videos comming 💪💪
Thanks a lot mate, highly appreciate your support!🙌
You need to do the 20 mins FTP test to calibrate your zone.
Yes, I’m planning to do the FTP ramp test in the next few days. Thanks!
I did the 20 min ramp test when I first signed up but didn’t really know what I was doing. As in was it a steady ride or was I supposed to be pushing hard…it was really hardly constantly uphill then rest, then bit uphill etc etc… I try do that test again and it’s not the same, it’s just a steady ride, do you know why??
Decathlon is amazing, ive got this trainer and been using it for the last week or so with Rouvy
Glad that you are enjoying Rouvy. A few tips to help your experience (level 84) Join events (race and group rides) as these tend to give you more coins and experience than just completing the same route on your own. Races and group rides also allow the drafting benefit, however group rides don't add your activity to any challenges you may have joined, nor do they attach to any of the Strava segments. As your coins increase don't just buy the first available bike or wheel set. Items have 1 to 5 stars based on weight and aerodynamics (5 is best). At the moment the best all-round bikes, with 4 stars weight and aerodynamics are the Trek Gen 8 Madone, Liv Langman, Baldiso and the Specialised Tarmac - with the Tarmac generally giving a few seconds advantage over the rest. As for wheels - for your first purchase i would suggest saving for "Lightweight Obermayer" as these are 4 stars weight and aero. The disk wheels are great if only riding flat routes - but not for any hills. example based on Lake como at 2 w.kg average with no drafting. Tarmac + Cadex aero disk 42.29 Tarmac + Lightweight Obermayer 44.16 Rouvy bike + Cadex 42 46.31 so almost 4 minutes difference based on the same w/kg power output. If you search Google for "Rouvy Analyser" you will find a website which allows you to search a specific route then add some key metrics such as weight, ftp, expected average power output then select the bikes and wheels that you have available and click [analyse]. The site will then workout the best combination for that route. As your experience grows - the climbs get much easier. This morning I joined the weekly Sunday morning hill race (colle del Nivolet) and throughout next week I have set myself the challenge of riding 7 mountains that will appear in the 2025 TDF (starting with Hautacam tomorrow and Ventoux on Tuesday). ------------------------------------ Race tip. start pedalling as soon as the 54321 countdown timer starts and at the final second put down as much power as you are able to (without actually sprinting) for the first 30 seconds or so. Getting in to the lead group or close to the front as soon as possible makes life much easier as you get the drafting benefit. If you start slowly - then that lead group will never be caught if they get too far ahead. The busiest race events. Any that mention "Muckers", "GRC" and the official Rouvy races. Tuesday and Thursday 7pm GMT and Sunday 9.15am for Muckers or 3.15pm Sunday for GRC are consistently the busiest races with the GRC usually being a short flat race.. hope this helps
Oh thank you so much for taking the time for such insights and tips! I highly appreciate it and will definitely check them out!🙌 Btw. I've seen only 65 level in ROUVY as the highest, so you're definitely the biggest OG I stumbled upon :)
Are you a team Zwift or ROUVY? Let's share your WHY.👇
Rouvy is the "National Geographic of virtual cycling applications", it has 1,000's km of visually stunning video'd routes, races with 1,000's of participants, group rides taking place all over the world/almost all the time, & simply amazing workouts from top pro teams/pro riders!
Easy one, Rouvy, like traveling around world, every route can be done IRL and there is no need to repeat same route. Unless just scouting route profile for race, but only amateurs practice 😉
Rouvy, the realism of the routes wins over everything else. SR-71 on Rouvy.
Thinking of switching from zwift to be honest 💂❤️🚴👍🇮🇪
Rouvy, wanted to ride actual routes and that gamification in Zwift is not my cup of tea
5:57 you left him hanging ._.
For first month You can use code: AMY. You will get one free month on Rouvy ;)
unfortunately the service at some store is really really bad. Price however is great.
would you say D100 is sufficient? I wanted to make sure and ordered the kickr core, since it is able to handle more watts
I think if anything I'll hit the elevation limit rather than watts, but so far it's more than enough for me :)
@@DomRosenberg my 30s max is around 600W, so I figured if Id train some sprints or hard efforts I need a bit more. But I am also 1-2 years into training. Not sure but I guess it feels easier when riding outside on real climbs...
@@deDANIEL11609 totally understand!
i have the same frame but in blue version :) my kickr core will arrive soon.
Nice! Enjoy start of the indoor riding too!🙌
@@DomRosenberg ftp test was big pain tho today
@@deDANIEL11609 haha, I'm planning to do a first one in the next few days too and probably document it into a video as well, so we'll see!
@@DomRosenberg do you know which version yet? myWhoosh reported 230w, my own calc gave me 238w and my outdoor results had been at 244. Did the powerpassport, thinking about doing the garmin ramp thing, but well at the end it will never be perfectly accurate.
@@DomRosenberg try to check the protocol so you know exactly how to do it/ how to pace it. maybe the ramp one is easier for beginners, because you cant really pace 10 or 20min max effort without practising it. but with the ramp you cannot overpace it.
Here’s a few small tips I can share as a “experienced” indoor cyclist : 1. Add a big towel on the handlebar to prevent the rust or sweat corrosion on the handlebar (only you’ll know when remove your bar tape) 2. There’s a lot more others apps / games for indoor (Zwift , Mywhoosh etc) so you can try on your own and enjoy! 3. Get some snacks on side just in case if it’s too boring for whole day cycle. 4. Enjoy indoor ride ! Open your window or add a fan (someone mentioned) will be way more better to avoid overheating. Hope you love indoor cycling as I’m doing it only for winters!
Legend! Thank you so much for sharing those tips!
That was great watching you on your first rouvy ride. Add a cooling fan if you don’t want to turn your living room into a swimming pool 😅
Thanks! A fan is definitely on the list!😃
