You were 100% right with the Sane comparison... and Southgate's lack of understanding of this nearly, and should have, cost us. However, last night proved that both Foden and Saka shouldn't have been playing. For me, they're both too predictable in this system. They don't run at their full backs and constantly try to come inside, which is really infuriating. And how many chances have they created in 4 matches? 1 or 2 combined?

Totally agree with your points, it's so infuriating to watch. For me, it feels like the conundrum we had with Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes years ago. We knew we wanted them all in the team but one of them had to play on the left and it was fine in qualifying but never worked in tournaments. Seeing him play Trent in midfield for the first time in a tournament is ridiculous and not calling up a fit left back in a 26-man squad is a stackable mistake. But the biggest irritation for me is the lack of runners and pace.. it's pointless having Kane up top if no one runs beyond him, and Foden and Saka just aren't doing it.

How he didnt put kane on with toney or watkins like you said to change things up? Bonkers quicker the fraud goes the better

Certainly not ranting, mate, you're just being honest like any fan and calling out what needs to be called out. We were too deep once again, no press and so lethargic. Its all so slow and there's no real dynamism, which given who we have in the squad, is wild. There's no balance and it shows. Denmark are a good, technical side but its more about how we play, how we set up. We just don't play to our strengths. Agrees about Guehi. Impressed me in both games now.

Certainly a relieved opening win. Had a promising first 30/35 minutes where Bellingham looked great and we were passing fine, then we let Serbia in and just never got any sense of control back and that lack of control has always been a weakness of Southgate. It's 3 points and we move forward but there's still more questions than answers it feels like.

The fact Trippier played left back and you want to put TAA left back for next games just highlights the one big criticism I have of the squad Gareth picked. Mitchell from Palace should have been on the plane, especially if Shaw is struggling for fitness.
