That "orchestra hit" music over this logo is stock. It was also used as the "alert sound" on Saudi Arabia's Channel 3 for a SCUD missile attack warning during the 1991 Gulf War. If this was in the AVID (Audiovisual Identity Database), here's what the legacy would say: Prior to its (surprising) discovery on January 15, 2025, it was thought this logo was never used on-air. When it was discovered, it turns out it actually was used on-air after all. As a result, it's one of the most mysterious PBS logos ever discovered.

Designed by William “Bill” Korbus. Debuted June 8, 1975, and discontinued on April 1, 1976.
After that, NBC acquired rights to Bill Korbus's N symbol (which means that NBC are allowed to keep Lippincott's N logo) and continue to used by NBC with some variants until 1986, and included it's famous Proud N with Peacock.
