got to thinking also - many areas local AHJ want us to wire power into top of disconnect - maybe some disconnects dont like this? as the heat areas maybe different across the disconnect when your in the sun . and at top of the rating. it could push it over the limit - sorry thinking out loud- strange no comments on this video??

of course many factors - i should have added to this. proper torque - really think however its quality control on some electrical components - however - this system works good now - the next year we did have issues with many optimizers - bypassing full voltage and inverter went out also - so its possible a pre fail sign of optimizers maybe over powering inverter somehow or inverter was going bad at this time?? I don't have a test lab to figure out all this stiuff. I see many strange issues with DC power in play. most times its critters getting into wiring that leads to issues - and this system we did find the chewing on the wires- after we pulled all panels changed all optimizers and some solar panels also. plus the house got hit by lightning - one of the most complicated repairs we find. needless to say - we may have got it all wrong on first visit . now looking back at this- dont feel bad as this disconnect will hold up better. and we do see many other systems with bad disconnects as I bet they are not rated for continuous power really real word on some models

The pitch at 14 deg is for shade . And simplicity on install-repair. I know not in the solar books. Standing seam sucks to walk on at the best angle for solar. You don't lose much power when flatter . Also, most homes will have shade . So many times want less pitch-- keep in mind metal roofs need I believe at least 14 deg also - ask roofers that actually fix roofs.

note - in Austin energy area- if we pull off all panels and re-install we now need - Rapid shutdown. I need to check this out in other suburbs as they may understand some people just don't have the money to keep the solar and spend more money on rapid shut down on and on. I feel they should grandfather this and maybe require critter guard around panels if any trees near your home. thinking fire -man need to always be aware these systems can be energized - of course I do see the need for rules . but man I see homeowners that cant afford - to get AC units fixed now they have a solar issue.

wanted to add in some areas - they let you ground every other rail -- not a big fan of this - as we service solar power systems - and feel its just better to ground more - even the best installer can miss 1 ground - skipping the wrong rail or get the clamp turned in wrong - or a panel may have a paint coat that doesn't always let the piercing of the proper mids or end clamps - its just better to do all rails.. I see why some inspectors may want this ..

I was under the impression by the install guide that you could only do 50 amps off the battery? How are you getting 217amps out of it? I am sincerely asking as I want a SOL-ARK 15k but can't live with just 50 amps.

I'm about to start construction on a home with the exact same setup. sol-ark 15kw and homegrid batteries. I am planning to have it installed in the laundry room/ pantry. I was wondering just how load it can get when the fans are going and if I would need any further sound insulation installed. Is that fan noise in the background or is that another device?

I only see one pair of battery wires. You'll need two pairs (to go through both breakers) to max out the battery amps.
