I've really enjoyed these conversations-- can't wait for Season 2! I'm a 1* and have learned so much.
I am seriously opposed to any outer court activity connected to an Initiatory Group, a coven, magical group, or other type, that requires an initiation ritual to begin the training properly. It would be tough for the trained priesthood to avoid oath-bound material with the outer court. Alexandrian covens do hold soirees and often host public Sabbath rituals, or host an open circle on occasion. These are the opportunities for the coven priesthood to interact with those of interest, and it is the way for the seeker to check out a group and a tradition. I feel it should take time and effort to join a group. Participating in an outer court does not serve this; it will delay the ACTUAL work of the egregore and group. The seeker thinks they are showing up for the work, but they are showing up for the false teaching, or other teaching not related to the tradition. And when Karagan mentioned, early in the podcast, that some outer court groups have a degree system; I just knocked over my wine with visceral shock. UGH, NO!
Thank you Elie, I am glad you enjoyed the podcast! Yes it is quite the shock to know. As we mentioned in the podcast, I think it is laziness or lack of ability.
Is there a place where it lists the differences in Gardnerian and Alexandrian? I am a post it note list person and linear in that way and a visual learner.
Hello, and thank you for your question. It is quite difficult to know this, as each coven is independent and their practice may differ. However, we can point out some obvious differences that are recognized generally. Again, this is quite difficult to point out by the very way things are set up in traditional wicca. We can discuss this in more depth on the next episode of your like. Unfortunately, I do not know any documentation that points out the differences as you request. I hope this helped. Brightest Blessings
I could listen to this extremely wise Veiled Priestess for a long time❤. Genuine interest in witchcraft seems to come in waves, ebbs and flows. IMO witchcraft can be likened to gold - it needs continual polishing in order to maintain its shine - and this requires work, regular work, a lot of effort. Yet the shine is always there. There is a lot of fool's gold out there - the superficial quick-fix surface-level shiny substitutions that fade quickly and leave an unfilled void. There will always be those who seek for a longer lasting sheen - their journey is to recognise the difference.
Studying anything seriously in the occult world will require much work and devotion. There is no way around this fact; if you want to obtain the gifts delivered by occult training, you must sincerely put in the work. It is in the inner realms that so much of the change and growth take place. But hopefully, seekers will realize this within the first year of their seeking and will look for more serious traditions. Alexandrian witchcraft is a serious tradition!!
Completely agree with you Elie. Hope you liked this episode!
Thank you for your response. It was midterms last week, so this was nice to listen to now that everything is said and done. What I got from the response: 1 there is a difference between a sex cult and a fertility cult, and fertility doesn’t only include sex. 2 Hearing this, I recognize that my original questions seem to derive from a misunderstanding that fertility and sex are one and the same. &3 I loved the idea of arousal causing one to “stand at attention” and that there are various forms of arousal. I also loved the comments about leaving things to the imagination. Thank you. My questions are simply out of curiosity and are not meant to undermine or pry into the tradition. When I initiate, I want the tradition to change me, not the other way around, but I ask questions because I want to initiate once and stick to one religion. I don’t believe in stupid questions, but I believe in faulty questions, and understanding that my questions are rooted in a perspective that isn’t how the tradition see’s itself was an issue that I am happy to be aware of. Anyway, thanks. xoxo from Florida
Hello, it was a pleasure to answer your questions and we’re here to exchange feedback and views on different topics within our tradition. We are glad we could clarified your questions. Thank you for participating!
Great episode. I agree completely with your point that "the Tradition transforms you; you don't transform the Tradition." Important message. thanks
Hello and thank you for listening! It is important to keep these points clear and explain why they are important! Keep listening!
Hi, I enjoyed the episode. Some questions I am left with are: If the physical body emits or reflects spiritual power, does sexual arousal play a role? Is Gardner's refusal to initiate homosexuals due to a belief that the inability to find the opposite sex attractive becomes a hindrance to the flow of power? What is the role of arousal, and does the inability to be aroused to the opposite sex cause an issue? Are homosexuals who believe they are better suited to homogenous groups because their full sexual arousal/power is not inhibited justified? Thank you, I hope I articulated my questions clearly.
Unfortunately no one can speak for Gardner or his thoughts (nor are the three of us gardnerian) , all we have is what we know he wrote down hearsay and rumors sometimes from individuals who had rather fallen out with him. I have no doubt that racism, homophobia and sexism were all more prevalent with people in the 50s but that is not really relevant to the belief system or this conversation. Witchcraft is still to the chagrin of many a secret society who work in small groups often in peoples private homes, who they invite into that world is very private and not something that should or can be regulated by public opinion. How we work I am not going to discuss, but it seems the craft or most covens welcome gay priests in both traditions we are in abundance really, that is probably for a reason.....What i will say is that women play a central role and that the biological process is considered by most occultists as it is above so it is below. No one is excluded from the craft based on sexuality or identity sharing our belief system however i would think would be essential. Hope that helps.
