A CHANNEL FOR THE COMMON ENTHUSIAST, BY A COMMON ENTHUSIAST! why am I’m yelling?
When it comes to things that drive I am a perpetual dabbler.
- Current project is an 1986 Toyota Celica GTS (st162)
- My newer adhd hobby is photography. Mainly car stuff, but whatever’s cool. Camera is a Canon Eos Rp. Inexpensive way to get into full frame photography.

C5 corvette gets clear taillight lenses. ( Detailed install )
Ive been excited for weeks to install the "Lucky Garage" taillight lenses. Figured id round off the back of the car by installing clear side markers and 3rd brake light bulb.

SIMPLE SPOILER INSTALL!! SpoilerKing (380p) goes on the C5 Corvette
มุมมอง 10K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Probably the most satisfying Mod yet, the C5 corvette gets a new rear spoiler. this is spoiler kings 380p. the bigger of the two "duck bill" style spoilers.
QUICKJACK BL-5000SLX unboxing and setup! .......And I make easy things look hard!!!
มุมมอง 1.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I've been sitting on this QuickJack 5000slx since January. The time has come to set it up and try it out.
First time on TRACK in the Z06...and it was Gooooood. Short vid.
มุมมอง 1462 ปีที่แล้ว
For the first time since I've owned it, the corvette finally gets to the track. Evergreen speedway hosts these "open class" style autocross events. I'm happy to report that other than a check engine light, active handling light, and low oil level light things went off without a hitch. My friends Tyler and Jen were there in cool cars as always. happy to finaly gain some confidence in that fat b h.
MOLD INFESTED CORVETTE Z06!!!
มุมมอง 3352 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I document cleaning up the interior of my 2001 Z06. by leaving the car cover on in the rain over the months it caused a big mold problem. although it may look worse than it was....it was still pretty bad. Im not a professional by any means so for legal and safety reasons.... This was filmed in mexico....
2001 C5 CORVETTE Z06 goes under the knife! New crank seal, ARP pulley bolt and Pinning the Crank!!
มุมมอง 17K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The first time I did this job , I most likely didn’t tighten the crank bolt to spec… so we’re here again! In this one I'm pulling apart my 2001 C5 Z06 for the second time to replace the crank seal. This time I'm filming it so other weekend warriors can get a sense of the process. there is also 2 "while we in there" items. first is replacing some old tensioners. Also were gonna mess with pinning...
I UPGRADED my sons Powerwheel to run a household 18volt drill battery. Extended review at very end!
มุมมอง 2023 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I upgrade my sons power wheels to support modern 18v "tool" batteries. The parts needed were around $20. I added a long tern review portion at the end.
Taping a cheap rubber spoiler on a Zo6 is stupid. Period. Why not put some flame decals on the fenders and spinner wheel hub caps from Walmart to complete the ‘cool’ factor.
Noted. Do you have a link for the flame decals? I think you’re on to something.
Yes, go to Flame Decal Kings. I think they’re out of TJ.
Nice, do they have chrome strips also? I’d like to put those on my door edges and every other edge I have. 😍😍😍
@@mediocrecarguy4979 you can get those at Big Lots in the automotive section. All joking aside, I was considering this spoiler and the plastic gloss finish version. Maybe if it came in torch red to match my Z I’d do it. Good vid though just not for my car.
Looking good!! I subbed!
Love the electrical tape (???) to set the seal! Gonna give that a try with with a hockey puck before buying a seal installation kit
Dude u should restart uploading you would blow up for sure you have professional level content and your funny
Dude, I think about it all the time. Maybe soon 🤔.
Also thank you for the compliment. Comments like this put a huge smile on my face.
@@mediocrecarguy4979 the c5 corvette has jumped in popularity over the past months and u got a zo6 i say go for it Evan if it’s just talking abt the car itself and driving it
Never understood the self assembly… theres no reason for the fitting not to be fitted at the factory… its a cost saving… other similar ‘quick jacks’ come ready with all fittings in place… its just an inconvenience at best or a real hassle as you found. Also leaks in high pressure hydraulics can be deadly if the puncture the skin. Hobbyists shouldn’t be messing with hydraulics
U really didn’t have to take off the 1/4 lines off the stearing rack
Don’t say that… I’ll cry. 😆
Thanks for the video! Did you use the Primer Promoter they included? Not sure that's needed but wanted to check with you.
There wasn’t anything included back when I purchased mine. But I’d say if they are now… I’d use it.
Hey man, how did this end up holding up? Still good a year later? Looks awesome, I want to put a lip on my z4
Unfortunately I don’t have the vette anymore 🥹. So I can’t answer from first hand experience. Seemed legit though for the rest of the time I had it. I’d say DO IT!!
Great video Brother. Very informative. Im glad that your boss was there to make sure the job was done right. He deserves a raise after that job.
Are not clear tail light lenses illegal?
Probably different from state to state, but I put red bulbs in to deter the po po.
Great video! Ran right out and installed my spoiler. Thank you. Also very funny.
I have a C4 so this horror is not applicable to me, but thank you for sharing. It was very entertaining. Especially the "that's just you cryin' about it" part. I could relate to all your frustrating moments in this video. Hang in there!
not the torque tube, leaf spring
I think that is a must mod when you have a gray vette
Couldn’t agree more.
How good does the spoiler king product hold up if you take your car to a drive in car wash ?
I never ran mine through the car wash, so I couldn’t answer that. Seems like it would be fine though.
You should have pinned the steering wheel so it wouldn't move and break the clock spring.
I made sure the steering wheel never moved. I was worried about that.
you didnt have to pull the rack i got my05 done the dropped cradle way took about 2 hours
Hey man I know it’s a year later I just wanted to see if you could give an update on if any water leaks through I was thinking about buying a set this month
Hey Jesse, first off thanks for watching the video man. I sold the car a little while back, but up until that point, even after driving in wet conditions they always stayed sealed. Even though I did a pretty mid job with the sealer. Hope this helps, enjoy your vette brother!
@@mediocrecarguy4979 thanks for the fast update man 🫡🫡🫡
Great video, I see this in my life soon!
You got this!!
Never use impact gun on cradle bolts it can strip the nuts in subframe then you opened up a can of worms. Regardless you did a great job doing this yourself from the garage 👍
Thanks for checking out the video. Great advise on the impact. I knew there was probably 20 things I did that were probably less than recommended 😂.
I'll stick with my 73, much easier to work on.
I don’t blame you 😂
Are you a cop.
Don’t think so. you have any drugs, or know any drug dealers? Asking for friend 🤔
Thanks for sharing. I've been contemplating changing my own harmonic balancer. At least now I know what I'll be up against. Thanks for keeping it real!
Love the video !!! Thanks!
Did the LED autozone lights create an error code? Also did you purchase the hyper flash harness? Great video my man thank you!
i just bought mine do you think i should add the primer it comes with ?
Like a primer paint? If that’s what you’re referring to, and plan on painting it I would. Mine didn’t come with any primer. I think only alcohol strips to help prep the surface it sticks to.
Wait how did you fix the subframe bolt that started spinning
OK!
Lol, I’m the worst.
Did the rtv hold them on long term?
Although I don’t have the car anymore, the rtv seemed to hold up really good though. Cheers!
I was an early buyer of the 7000TL. The Quickjacks work ok if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Oh, and clearly it's not true because 18 months later the new models still have the air cylinder. Whatever. I'm tired of the lies and prevarications - life is too short. I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity. I still have the quickjack in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it.
Where did you get that jig ??
Amazon actually. If I remember right it’s a universal pinning kit for LS’s.
@@mediocrecarguy4979 thank you man
Nice PORN STACH!
They're called speed nuts. Thread them on while out of the car then remove. VOILA.....threaded light
Just found your channel, cool 😎. I have a black C5Z that that spoiler would look great on! Appreciated the method of installation too. I would have peeled off the backing and then tried to lower it down…………😬😬😬😂
Great video, like the wheels and the jazz music at the end. I'm thinking of getting a C5. One that I'm looking at has an oil leak, probably the crank seal. :-(
thank you for posting the video. I guess I will get a ratcheting flare nut wrench or 2 from snap on.
I feel your pain right about now.
I’m glad you have time and know how to do this! I had a shop this week let me buy my own parts and they charged me $450 for all inc installing 2 tie rod ends and replacing the ac belt along with all the other normal stuff. (Balancer, oil crank seal and harmonic belt. I’d rather pay the $450 but great job doing yourself. 😮
lol I would also rather have paid $450
good vid 👍
I appreciate that. For real.
Nice job, enjoyed it. I know the frustration, thanks for the video.
Good video. Sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but where did you get the clear 3rd brake light?
The third brake light and side markers are both eBay pieces. Thanks for checking it out!
I'm about to do this and I'm terrified 😆😆😆 good seeing someone else struggle with it like I probably will
It’s all about just getting in there and taking it one bolt at a time. Believe me, it took me a while before I built the gall to put it on jack stands! Make it happen captain!!
I’m selling my C5. I really don’t want to do this!!!
bet you its leaking in at the windshield. mine leaks in the exact spot by the bcm and fuse box
My kid wrote in the walls once. We told her not to do it again and she never did. At the very least, crayon or not. I would have gave them one chance and then a garage ban at the very least.
Excellent work, definition of will power.
It took me a while to get balls to try it for sure.
I got to do this to my vette also
you ever end up getting it done?
@@mediocrecarguy4979 nope sold the car
@kkbodyshop shit.. me too 🥹
Very helpful video watched it a couple times to get an idea what to do for replacing my front main seal. Love the edits also I laughed many times throughout the video!
Thanks Andrew! I’m glad it helped.
What tape did you use to hold the ends down?
Just painters tape. 👌
I know this is old video but do you remember what pin kit you bought? Did you buy the cheaper kit on ebay or the $100 kit? Wish you lived in Indianapolis would pay you to do this for me.
sorry for the late response, i ordered it from amazon. was like $35.
Love seeing your son in there with you. Keep at it man
Its alot of fun messing around with em in the garage. memories.
