Because exemplary work is not only difficult, but when it is achieved, an intelligent person cannot help but notice the lighting, the costuming, the lenses, the sound, music, performances, hair, makeup, sets, environments, etc. THAT is storytelling. Check out BR2049. 'Nuff said. 💪😎✌️

If you think Mann's dialogue style is cringe then you haven't really seen actual cringe dialogue lmaooo.. Mann writes a specific type of dialogue, which does comes off as cleverly slick and over the top but yet he finds a balance where the characters never start to sound like cartoon (courtesy to his direction on his actors).. thats what is brilliant about his writing. He finds style in realism

You need to watch French crime movies of the 60s and 70s, especially the ones starring the late Alain Delon (who just passed away). Michael Mann makes the American versions of that cool, slick, crime and cops pitted against each other on equal footing type stuff

Also, Richard Harris was an actor - who possibly could have made an interesting Lecter - but I'll agree with you that Brian Cox rocked this role. My theory is that the miguel ohara that died was part of an ultime spiderman type of story, where the main spiderman dies and gets replaced by another spiderman. For example, The universe where miles becomes the prowler might be one of this universes, but instead of the main spiderman dying and getting replaced, there was just never a replacement. And the universe tried to balance things out by giving spider powers to another miles and killing another spiderman, to prevent itself from falling apart.

I saw it as a thoroughly enjoyable experience, as you said in terms of the plot it lacked - certainly compared to the first 2 movies where there was lot more emotion and story involved but Hugh and Ryan definitely had killer chemistry and that was the key reason as to why the film worked so well, plus of course the fan service and cameos. It may not have been perfect in terms of the story but for the fan service and euphoria, I'd say it's first time we've seen it done brilliantly since Spider-Man NWH.
