*Cape Chikyu* is one of Japan's most scenic spots, with a series of cliffs about 100 meters high, and a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the observation deck on a clear day.
It is a popular tourist spot that represents Hokkaido, and was ranked number one in the "Hokkaido's 100 Natural Wonders."
It is also famous as a nesting site for peregrine falcons.
*Cape Chikiu Lighthouse*, which was lit in1920, is located on a cliff 130m above sea level at the tip of Cape Chikyu, and its light reaches up to a distance of about 44km.
It became fully automated in 1991, and the radio direction signal station was abolished the following year.
Generally, lighthouses have a mixture of red and black exterior colors to distinguish them from the winter snow, and it is rare to see an all-white lighthouse like the Cape Chikiu Lighthouse.
It is also rare to be able to look down on it from above, and it is rare for the lower part to be octagonal.
*Shirotori Bridge*
Completed in 1998, this is the largest suspension bridge in eastern Japan. With a total length of 1,380m, this graceful bridge resembles a swan spreading its wings.
Its dynamic scenery during the day and the nighttime illumination are its attractions. There are 228 lights on the main ropes and 44 lights on the main tower, and they are lit by wind power from sunset until late at night.
At the Shirotori Bridge Memorial Museum, which also serves as a roadside station, you can see construction documents and models. In 2008,
it was selected as a "Japanese Night View Heritage and Illumination Heritage."
*Mt. Showa-Shinzan*
In 1943, a sudden earthquake caused a wheat field to rise suddenly, and Showa-Shinzan began to form. This earthquake eventually turned into volcanic activity, and in 1944 Mount Usu erupted.
Postmaster Masao Mimatsu continued to watch over the birth of Showa-Shinzan. He closely observed the earthquake, eruption, and cessation of activity using self-taught observation methods,
and after leaving detailed records, he named it the Mimatsu Diagram and was praised.
At the foot of Showa-Shinzan is the Mimatsu Masao Memorial Museum, which exhibits the Mimatsu Diagram, which meticulously observed and recorded the birth of Showa-Shinzan,
as well as documents, observation equipment, and photographs.
In addition, around the parking lot, there are viewing facilities such as the Usuzan Ropeway, Showa-Shinzan Bear Ranch, and the Mimatsu Masao Memorial Museum,
as well as restaurants and souvenir shops, making it a representative tourist destination in Sobetsu Town.
Even now, you can experience the energy of the earth up close as smoke billows from the volcano.
*地球岬*
高さ約100メートルの断崖が連なり、晴れた日には展望台から太平洋を一望できる日本有数の景勝地です。
北海道の自然100選で第1位に選ばれた、北海道を代表する人気の観光スポットです。ハヤブサの営巣地としても有名です。
*地球岬灯台*
1920年に点灯された地球岬灯台は、地球岬の先端、海抜130メートルの断崖にあり、その光は最長約44km先まで届きます。1991年に完全自動化され、翌年には無線指令所が廃止されました。
一般的に灯台は冬の雪と区別するために赤と黒の外装色を混ぜたもので、地球岬灯台のように真っ白な灯台は珍しいです。上から見下ろせ、下部が八角形になっているのも珍しいです。
*白鳥大橋*
1998年に完成した全長1,380ｍの東日本最大の吊り橋。
白鳥が羽根を広げたような優雅な白い橋です。橋の魅力は昼間のダイナミックな景観と夜のライトアップ･イルミネーション。メインケーブルには228個、主塔には44個設置されており、
日没から深夜12時まで風力発電によって点灯されています。工事の資料や模型などは、道の駅にもなっている白鳥大橋記念館で見ることができます。
また、2008年には「日本夜景遺産・ライトアップ遺産」に選定されました。
*昭和新山*
1943年突然の地震により麦畑が急激に隆起し、昭和新山が形成され始めました。この地震はやがて火山活動に変わり、1944年に有珠山が噴火しました。
昭和新山の誕生を見守り続けたのが郵便局長の三松正夫さんでした。
地震発生から噴火、そしてその活動が止まるまでを独学の観測方法でつぶさに観察、詳細な記録を残した後にミマツダイヤグラムと命名、称賛されました。 　
昭和新山山麓には三松正夫記念館があり、昭和新山の生い立ちを克明に観察・記録したミマツダイヤグラムをはじめ、資料、観測機器、写真などが展示されています。
また、駐車場周辺には、有珠山ロープウェイ・昭和新山熊牧場・三松正夫記念館といった見学施設や、レストラン・土産店なども立ち並び壮瞥町の代表的な観光地となっています。
現在でも噴煙をたなびかせ、大地のエネルギーを間近で体感することができます。
