the 2024 Farmers Pony Express had all 4 seasons in one weekend this year.
Held on the 23rd & 24th of August at the Nowingi Salt Pan (40km out of Mildura). On the Saturday saw the junior competitors hit the track on a sunny warm day with some dry windy conditions. The day had a lot of close racing between the kids with most of them being separated by under a minute in the 3hr event.
Come Sunday morning, we were greeted with drenching rain and a cool morning. As the riders took off another shower come through and it well and truely settled the dust and that was all there was for the next 6hrs. As the leaders come around on there first couple of laps the sun come out and the wind picked up. By the 5th hour it was gale force winds and windy conditions.
