Can you go into more detail about the hot sauce? Does it not disturb the bird?
Cut up suet, like beef short ribs, only time I saw them covet food, threw the wing up and no sharing.
My gang love unseasoned peanuts, egg, and oats that have been rolled in the leftover fat from making bacon! Every now and again I'll make them bird-sized portions of scrambled egg on toast, which is always a big hit (I brush the toast with a little bit of olive oil to add a little bit of the plant fat they like). I put out their food on the roof of my garden shed, where they'll be able to see it more easily, and where they won't have to worry about being interrupted by ground-based animals.
thanks
Crows love nuts but I've given them mixed nuts (unsalted) and it seems that their number one priority are CASHEWS I assume due to being softer than regular peanuts.
We moved 5 years ago & I have been trying to befriend our murder of crows near our house. Literally they just started coming regularly every morning by 8am. They get peanuts in shell, walnut halves, most of the time meat from the night before, on occasion they will get pizza & of course their sunflower seeds. They are very spoiled & I love spoiling them. So far I have received 4 gifts. A screw, an old, old nail, a dime & a gorgeous painted metal 🌺 flower. Our squirrels & crows get along great, I was surprised. I would LOVE more crow videos please. ❤
I’m in Canada.Red area.We have crows in winter. All year around
I'm in the red area, we have crows all year long
Here in Vancouver, a regular with some friends arrive promptly for breakfast as they take a break from their fly-on westerly. The regular hops onto a small table just outside the sliding glass patio. I sit inside working at the laptop. Mr Regular comes to the edge of the table and taps on the glass to get my attention, backs off when I open the door and put our peanuts in and out of the shell. Friends arrive, sometimes tussle, other times, only two, perhaps the mate.
we have crows in LA and it's winter? We aren't in the light blue areas-perhaps they are ravens.
Cat food❤
Go to a pet store and get crickets, mealworms, etc.. this will make your neighborhood crows very happy and give them the protein and fats they need!
Any ideas to keep them out of the window feeders?
I had a window feeder about five years ago. The window was over six feet above the ground. Only thing that worked was attaching clear plastic sheets (like thin plexiglass or poster frame sheets) over the bricks below the window. The squirrels couldn't grab the brick and climb with those sheets attached. Also had to remove any items propped up against the house that they could use to get a boost.
They like meat
Squirrels can't get to my feeders, but congregate (up to 6 at a time) under them, discouraging ground feeding birds. Any suggestions?
That's a tough one. Right now where I live there's snow on the ground and I've been placing piles of food for ground feeding birds in different areas of my backyard. The ground birds seem to be able to eat and not be bothered by the squirrels too much (squirrels at one pile and not the others). This includes diversifying the food, so sunflower in one pile, peanuts in another, thistle seeds in another.
We feed all wildlife! The squirrels and crows and blue jays are all friends in my area! Squirrels are angelic creatures and crows love protecting them and the blue jays against the evil hawk.
I've been leaving some food out for the squirrels during cold weather lately.
@ good! The squirrels are amazing to befriend💚
We just had a pond put in about two months ago, and now that its about 3/4 full, I've noticed the crows keeping a spot open in the ice to drink from. I put a tray of peanuts out there to see if they check it out.
I feed crows, i live in Holland, Europe, they come to my big feeder plank and have a party. There are a lot of them, they know i am feeding them and wait sometimes on the roofs of the houses surrounding my place. I feed them whole peanuts in a shell and sometimes wallnuts, there seem to be something in them, that is very good for the health of the crows, they are very shy.... They can be very silent, when coming into my garden, to eat. They are very smart, sometimes they try to steal the fat balls, out of the cilinder, i hang in tree`s for the smaller birds.
I found this video helpful, thank you.
Hope your Cardinals enjoy. Thanks for watching!
I gave them shell peanuts, they love it
Been feeding crows for a couple years! Mostly paralyzed and my caregivers make egg bites every morning and pack two jars of peanuts in the shell. After I spend time with the pair of crows at my house I go to the park. There are crows waiting for me! Knowing that I'm going to throw down egg bites and peanuts and spend time with then while they eat! Greatest life in the whole world! Makes being paralyzed fun!
❤❤❤❤
They and other birds really need feeding during snow times
You don’t know what you’re talking about. My crows have lived in my neighborhood for decades and even talk to us.They stay all year round and don’t migrate! Your info is unreliable.🇨🇦
I just found this video looking for alternatives to feed "my" crows- thank you!! I am so fortunate that it only took a couple days for them to know me. There is nothing in the world like watching crows come swooping around you, landing above your head, saying hello and waiting patientiently for goodies! Not only are they comfortable with me but they are comfy with my dog (AmStaff)! They come now when they see me coming up the driveway- with about 10 starlings. They are absolutely incredible birds. I look forward to watching some of your other vids.
I feed my crows sausage rolls and hot dogs. No complaints yet.
I just started getting interested in feeding crows, they seem to come at 7 am every morning because I put leftovers and shelled peanuts out for them, I also am going to plant sunflowers this may
I used to feed my dog and cats outside, and the neighboring crows would come and eat the leftovers. Over time my dog and cats passed away, but the crows continued to congregate on the telephone line at feeding time. I continue to buy dog and cat food and put it out for them, for breakfast and dinner. Just recently, a seagull has begun to come to eat with them. They must be watching my house, because as soon as I come outside with the dishes of food, the crows come from all directions. Some of them even call out, to alert other crows that it’s time to eat. While I can’t get close to any of them, they will come and land by the food while I’m starting to walk away.
After watching this video yesterday, when it was advised that crows eat fruit, I removed the pits and cut up some plums that I had, to give them as a treat. I don’t know if they don’t like plums or just saw that there was something new, but i called them and they came but wouldn’t land anywhere near the food, nor would they eat it. I went back aout again to pick up the plum pieces, but the damage was done. They didn’t come for their dinner!!
I have been feeding unsalted peanuts for about 2 months and by the time the crows show up about 30 blujays have already wiped 3/4 of the pile😂 only had 1 crow grab some peanuts
What are you feeding your birds this winter? Any other bird feeding stories to share? Let me know!
French fries, junk food. Anything in a white bag. I leave fruit out and it sits untouched and rots away. They go right for the pizza and McDonald's
I gotta be careful with bird feed because of a Millet allergy I also wanna get feed that most small birds don't eat because the Crows here pick on Finches An ignoring thing the Crows do here is spread invasive fruits But I love Crows because they bring interesting things
All glory goes to God/Jesus Christ 🙏
They love unsalted crackers
Actually, I live in Vancouver, BC, and we have crows almost year-round. They are not as common in deep winter, but we still see them. I've got a fairly large posse I periodically feed in my neighborhood. They always greet me and will make sure I notice them whether I've got food or not. It's pretty cool. I feel almost protected.
The sources I used for the American Crow range overstated the amount of migration at the northern range. Too bad I can't amend the video! Good to hear you have an all-year flock!
sorry you are wrong, crows stay where they are in canada they dont migrate, there are 3 crows where I live, 1 male and 2 females, they raise 4 young every year, they chase the hawks away and pigeons all day long
Good to hear that you have an all-year flock. The sources I used for the American Crow range overstated the amount of migration at the northern range.
I work at a restaurant and have built a relationship with a gang of crows by feeding them the scraps for the past 3 years 😂 they call me the raven whisperer 🐦⬛🗣️😂😂
I feed the crows with food leftovers, oatmeal cooked pasta, fish sausages and so on. they get a meal every day.
The crows in my backyard love peanuts. I put them out every morning at daybreak. They are waiting for me in the trees when I go outside.
is this pepperbellypete?
🤝☕☕☕☕Congratulations ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Idk about crows but I attracted quite a bit of Ravens with canned honey roasted nuts
Thank you. I have new crow friends in my backyard and I'm trying to figure out what to feed them without going broke at the farm store. Homemade concoctions would be a great idea..
When I walk my dog early in the morning a family of crows usually follows me when I croeed at them.
I feed crows on top of a huge boulder in my yard. I lured them in with meat, now if there's no meat the squawk like crazy, scolding me! They are spoiled birds!
So cool!
My crows love raw unsalted cashews
Fun fact, I nicknamed myself the birdman after the other guy that called himself the birdman. Caw caww caw ca - caw
I'm in Montreal in the red zone and crows are still here in late November. They woke me up this morning. 😅
I love crows. Live in a rural area. How do attract them to my place? The neighbor puts out dry cat food for them. Is that maybe why they don’t come my way? I have even put out shiny costume jewelry on fence posts in my pasture and they’ve never taken the first piece of it.
Could be if they are finding enough food at neighbor's yards that they might not come around. My experience here is they don't come to my feeders unless they need to (when it's cold/snowy or when food is scarce).
