Bragging about your League rank in 2024 is cringe asf. People need to actually community build and make the environment welcoming for new players. Otherwise you're just going to get the same sweaty players that have to make ANOTHER smurf for their clickbait Skillcapped / Proguides / Mobafire bullshit content. The same people who you're describing here. When I queue up for a game, I want to enjoy the game itself and League of Legends does not have the community to support that. There are way too many people that have played this game for an ungodly amount of time and always feel the need to go "i'm not trying this isn't even my main I peak Masters 500LP xd" Imagine if there was no ranked at all? Then what do you brag about? Your win rate?

[ Ex. Emerald, Otp Kayle here - I've not been playing the game since June. ] Imo you can't compare a player skill between SoloQ vs Competitive, as your analysis shows. And always imo there are so many factors to consider when evaluating someone's skill that you should sit through at least 50-100 matches to do a proper analisys. But what I can say for sure - and think is 100% truth all the times - is that MENTAL makes the difference, at all elos and in all cases, more than skill. You can be good at trading or doin' you wave management, but if smo goes 2/7 in your team and you start insulting him you'll definitively lose, as you'll distract yourself from doin' your stuff. That's why I can definitively say that you're a bad player if you just sit through 10 matches blaming, hinting and flaming.

There is a median player. And there is a 75th percentile player. And there is a 87.5% player. And anyone worse than the median is completer trash, worse than the 75th % is middle trash and worse than the 87.5% is upper trash and worse than the 93.75 is bad, worse than 96.875 is fine, 98.whatever is kinda good ish, (diamond elo?)99.x Has a basic understanding of the game and kinda doesn’t constantly make stupid mistakes (when not limit testing) I have made it to the top of the trash pile btw

As High diamond-Master player (Currently at master) No matter what rank you are, you get bad teammates You just get shinier rank border and thats it pretty much while listening your teams mental breakdown

u can just look at rank distribution and if you are above the average I would say that you are good and if you are below I would say that counts as being bad or to say it more nice u still have some stuff to learn

I am emerald there are good and bad players and I would say emerald is filled with the most bad players. I say this because as long as your trying to win you got to whatever elo your at and if your trying your a good player. BUT GOD DAMN I'm one of the more mentally sound people I know and emerald is DRAINING I have started graphing it and there is a 42% chance that a player on either team in my games are going to afk/full tilt and feed FOURTY FUCKING TWO. P.s. If your in emerald there is about a 1/25 chance your are mental and what I consider a bad player

I think most league players treat rankings as social standings in society. Got yourself into any heated argument on social media that is league related and they'll wipe out the "I'm diamond+" card to show dominants. Majority probably lied about their rankings but bet they still have delusional superior complex on how much better they are even if it wasn't true. Like just look at the comments below me on how people claiming they're high elo. They're not honest xD

As an Emerald player, I can confirm that the ego's in this rank are insane.

I consider myself something of a gamer. At least formerly. I like to pick games and tryhard at them and prove I am capable of learning. That is due to a personal complex, but I digress. I have been top 100 in Overwatch (1), top 0.2% in Rocket League, and most recently, my last journey was getting Diamond in League of Legends in less than 2 years of starting the game as my first ever MOBA (May 2022 - March 2024). With all that said, I think what you said about "there are no good players, only better or worse ones" misses the mark a little. There *are* good players, good players are those that learn and practice and are curious enough to look past their mistakes and ignore what others say about them, all with the end goal of simply improving. They are single minded in that. Good players are those who only (or at least primarily) care about getting better. Small sidenote, rank doesn't mean you're good, it's nothing more than a byproduct of how good you are. It's a hard concept to grasp unless you come to understand it yourself

Silver this season and the previous was incredibly hard to climb out of, and I've been consistently reaching gold since season 4. I don't try to climb higher, because I just want the ranked reward.

As an analyst, I'm surprised you say there are no good players. There are, and you can measure some skills. However, group sports have always had non-measurable skills, which will really make thr difference. Now, go and tell that to a FIFA player, drunk on numbers, or a LoL elo comparing maniac... I think the obsession of trying to measure unmeasurable effects on games/sports We love is taking enjoyment and nuance from said games. Stop it guys

I think a lot of it is exposure, i notice if i play against someone who struggles with fundamentals (ie takes obviously bad trades, gifts me fb etc) i stomp them and then proceed to suck the following game because i am not tryharding. On the other hand if i lane against a smurf (obviously smurfing and says so at the end of the game) i might lose the game but i'm on my 100% effort and proceed to win the following. So i think a lot about the game is also environment, and pushing one's limits/boundaries a bit further. Befriending high elo players and practicing against them would help a lot for instance

in my opinion, the game starts when you hit master elo. below that is like playing normal games. at master, ppl start to resemble something of a human beeing. sure the games keep getting better if you manage to climb higher. but master is the benchmark. yeah i know the ego thing.. but if you put it aside, you can clearly see that master is the benchmark. if you achieve it, you start to play the game as it was intended. your game knowlage can skyrocket if you learn from the games you play there.

I would like this video. But Im hard stuck silver because match making me give me the most chat gpt 1 bots. Bronze is trash and nothing above me exist. Litterally all the pro's have been challenger. They aren't all currently because LP decay. Solo Q isn't their focus. Tournament play and prepping for it are.

I'd say rank does a perfectly good job at determining how good of a player you are as long as its looked at objectively (aka not comparing it to your own personal rank and who's above/below it). And to me, theres only one way to know where that objective line is. Rank player distribution. Based on rank distribution, Iron and bronze means you're a bad player. Silver and gold means you're average. Plat and Emerald means you're good. Diamond and Masters means you're really good. And lastly grandmaster and challenger i'd just consider you gifted. Grandmaster players are better than 99.946% of the player base which is insane. Having room to grow and learn does NOT mean you are bad which is why we even have this issue with delusional players calling anything Diamond+ low elo despite them being in the top 5%.

Emerald 1 here with 75% win rate and not even with 25 ranked games played this season. You all trash, just learn to farm and learn to micro trade. Macro is for higher games, win your lane, stomp and win the game. All the " Macro " bullshit applies to MUCH higher elo games. ( Im not saying you don't have to take a look to the map or help drake/herald but being a Silver and thinking about Macro when your team is literally 2IQ won't do shit to your winrate. )

hi, i'm master, and i consider myself trash at the game for the reason, that i'm good enough to understand what i don't know about the game. and when i compare my knowledge to people that are grandmaster and challenger, i feel like a toddler fighting mike tyson the final steps to the top ladder are harder than all of the previous steps compared, and it's genuinely scary looking at people who have managed to overcome that

i hit challenger once during covid cause everything was on lock down been a master player ever since meaning that a big part of whats holding back people are how much u play. in the season I got chall I played like 300 games in 2 months or so which is a lot for me who plays 1 or two times a day now cause I have a life again

One also thing that Can make you climb very fast as well is learning ONE champ over and over in normal then comeback to rank , you will climb very fast , i tried Play Ranked post 1 mill and absolutly crushed Silver elo and stopped at S1 ( I don't like playing for compétition but i wanted to give it a try) Later on post 1.5mill i played again started gold in promo and ending P2 and After losstreak P3 , now im 1.9mill and i'm pretty sure i could reach emerald and maybe get out. Ofc i learnt a lot of macro in between but straight otp-ing and get you plat without macro knowledge.

I don't have to do ranked games to play against good players, i just let my friend get a high rank on their own and play games with them instead , most of time i end up playing against high ranking players while i have literally 0 lp and no ranked games played, makes arena more fun thats for sure! long story short i dont wanna rank up to play against better players, im just gonna play the system to get to them directly. waste my time grinding for master? diamond? emerald?... yeah right!

Yeaah that last part is why I like climbing Marvel Snap so much more. *I* choose how much "lp" (cubes) I want to risk for that game. And if I see that I will most likely lose, then I can retreat and minimize the cubes I lose. Plus it's 1v1 with no chat so no toxicity.

This is why I don't play ranked anymore. Someone calls me low elo (usually gold/plat players in my experience) since I'm silver, I just tell them I'm a casual player and its norms stop flexing. I just do my best not to give a shit because I've been iron, bronze, silver, gold, and peaked in platinum 2. TEAMS ARE ALWAYS GARBAGE. So I just play when I feel like it, mostly play arena and a few norms (gladiator in arena babyyyyy) and just focus on whether or not I got to experience the game and fun moments, winning is just a bonus I like tacked on. But I mostly have been able to move onto other games and reserve league for playing with friends. Ive long since learned rank doesn't matter in league and its all just a few shiny pixels that you get to see on your screen, and no one will respect you anymore for having a higher rank. I could reach challenger and most of the people ik wouldn't care. My boss wouldn't care, my friends wouldn't care, my family wouldn't care, and not even other league players would really care. It doesn't guarantee you a spot on a pro team either. At the end of the day, I'd just get an "oh nice" from most people and that would be it. RANK. DOESNT. MATTER. Spend your time doing what you *enjoy.* NOT playing the game that makes you hate life.

I play Wild Rift, but the real issue with matchmaking is similar. The devs have said the matchmaker alternates a player's games between easy and difficult to enhance enjoyment of the game. This is a backhanded way of admitting that loser's queue is real. And one of the ways they will make some of your games difficult is by putting one or two very unskilled players on your team who feed like crazy. Those games are very frustrating.

If u stop blame others and only look for your own mistakes you will start climbing. It's actually as easy as that.

you wanna know how to fix it? its very easy, remove everything that allows the player to access FREE information about how to play LOL, immediately you would filter out the trash players from the good players. Every one are using apps, google, and newest update to find out how good or bad a champion is, skill tree and items. It would not be fair too you, but it would be fair to every one who wants to find out what is considered good and what is not. Because with out the free information, the only once capable of understanding LOL are the only once that will thrive and be "good" at the game. every one els will be trash.

You can label low, high, and maybe mid elo by statistical ladder rank (i.e. bottom 33% of players are low elo) - that would be a more objective measure.

the problem with ''high elo'' (masters +) is that if a masters player ends up on a 5-6 game win streak and gets put into a gm/low chall lobby they get utterly stomped becasue the differnce between masters and gm/chall is about as big as the difference between bronze and diamond 1 other than the massive skewed high end of the spectrum there isnt a lot of actual skill difference between bronze - gold ... plat - diamond 4 has a bit bigger variance but the players dont improve much skill wise between these ranks only difference is the Diamond 4 player has a better ability to cs and is better at there champ pool

Iron-gold = low elo, plat-Diamond = mid elo, D1/Master+ = High Elo, GM/Challenger = unemployed elo

And it's a journey thing, EVERY SINGLE grandmaster once was a diamond 'trash' one, once were a gold one, once were a bronze turd, might never reach Challenger, wet dreams about a World Championship title. Now, how you acquire your rank, is in millions ways fkd up and hard. All the tiny gritty things you need to learn, AND THEN 'master'. AND then, you play with 9 other delulu that may help/allow you to get an S+ that game, or a F for fktrd. I mean, it's not like chess where it's one on one, your WHOLE AND ENTIRE decisions against theirs, and that's it, straight cut, he won, you won, but there's only one person to blame, well two, but you get what I mean, that IS a real rank (mehh kind'of >.> - Ranks are still Delulu, an ego trip measurement of their inflated ungraspable immeasurable self in a frame context of a not yet over journey..). League ranks are 'cumulative team ranks' over an eternal span of lifetime waste. Only the very top Wolrd champs and the very bottom no champs truly deserves their ranks, all the rest of players are unstable migratory units, learning, forgetting, steaming and crying. And then the others understand what ranks are and just enjoy norms :)
