Double Faced Twill on 4 and Interlocking Twill on 8 by Jane and Rib Basket with Joan Carrigan
มุมมอง 348หลายเดือนก่อน
Episode 7 was weaving a lovely rib basket with basket weaver Joan Carrigan. We had so much fun weaving this basket and so will you! Our last episode was another 4 & 8 shaft lesson on Double Faced Twills where we created pieces of fabric that have 2 completely different faces. For the 4 shaft lesson we wove it in a straight draw and the 8 shaft lesson was done in a 2/2 Twill on each side of the ...
Sequins in Pockets on 8 Shaft Review
มุมมอง 486หลายเดือนก่อน
Another Double Weave episode this time we create pockets and insert (or not) sequins while we are weaving, framed with plain weave on 8 shafts to create beautiful drapy scarves. Then we look at the threading and weave it in Turned Twill. This episode is so much fun!
Block Double Weave 4 and 8 Shaft Review
มุมมอง 439หลายเดือนก่อน
We had an explosion of colour and creativity with our second guest teacher, Barbara Mitchell. She shared her expertise on Block Double Weave on 4 shafts and 8 shafts. The project includes six placemats and six napkins for either 4 and 8 shaft looms and if you add 2 more yards to your warp, a Repp runner and a tote bag to hold everything!
Deflected Double Weave 4 and 8 Shafts Review
มุมมอง 810หลายเดือนก่อน
In episode 3 we had our first look at Deflected Double Weave structure for both 4 and 8 shafts. The 4 shaft project explores 4 and 5 ends units in towels with a colour and weave with Log Cabin overlay. Fun and fast to weave. For the 8 shaft project I developed the sampler on a Zephyr (50/50 silk/merino) warp with Zephyr weft and it's all in an amazing detailed PDF. Then we wove 2 scarves, one i...
Shadow Weave Atwater to Powell, 4 & 8 Shaft Review
มุมมอง 418หลายเดือนก่อน
This episode is presented by Rebecca Logan where she introduces us the Powell method of Shadow Weave. This is our first episode for both 4 & 8 shafts and our second on Shadow Weave. We learned how to change the Atwater method of drafting to the Powell method using the shaft shuffling tool in both Fiberworks and Weave It. We wove amazing gamps along with some beautiful scarves.
Ms and Os Goes on a 2nd Date - 4 Shaft Review
มุมมอง 421หลายเดือนก่อน
We started the year with one more lesson on M's & O's, heavily influenced by Huck and a different Colour and Weave sequence on top. We explored Log Cavin on this structure and how to weave it in Huck Lace. We also wove it using the tie-up for Huck weft spots but treadled it like Bronson Spot and Bronson Lace. Overlay, overlay, overlay!

Release date - April 18th, 2024 for 4 & 8 shaft weavers! Episode 3 is an introduction to Deflected Double Weave on 4 shafts and 8 shafts. I’m still a bit confused about the number of warp ends. I thought I saw A video about the number of warp ends being twice the number of wraps…. Because they end up being cut at the beginning & at the end (??). Obviously, I’m a beginner but can’t wait to actually weave something!!!

I have been a student at the School of Weaving for five years, the last project on my loom was weaving rugs using t-shirts and core spun alpaca yarn became too thick on my front beam. I had to remove what was currently woven so I could continue weaving until the warp was gone. I knew there was an episode where Jane cut the warp to continue weaving. I opened the JST app and searched on “glueing”, it was season 3.

@@youbel100 It really depends on the level you are at as a weaver. Season 1 starts at the beginning, making a warp, dressing a loom etc. Season 2 is all about Colour and Design, Season 3 is all about all the ways we can push plain weave. Dear Jane, so many thanks for all your creative efforts to keep us inspired. I'm a bit stupid. But I'm sure you have a good reason. My question, why don't you include crackle as part of your studies to us? I'm sure you have a good reason? And maybe you do and I don't know it? It is not a structure that I've read a lot about, but I knew a very clever creative mature weaver teacher who studied crackle intensively, but unfortunately she retired before I could. learn from her. Please can you teach us the basics? this woman was so excited about this structure and it still tickles me what made her so excited about it? I know how it looks, and I do like it. I know I confuse it sometimes with another structure. Thank you. Just curious.
