I'm getting a new bike soon. Thinking about going back to straps also. Not that I don't like using clipless. Straps are just easier to learn tricks in.

@@hungrylance I read that as “nice bars” earlier. I had just woken up lol. But these aren’t new actually. I had these before the silver ones with pink grips. I just switched back to these bc this feels more comfortable for the wrist. I was getting wrist fatigue with the other ones.

@@zbasedg0d397 I get that a lot, but here’s my case for why I don’t lock my bike. So there are a 100 million bikes in the US and 2 million gets stolen every year. You might think, 2% chance of getting stolen. But it’s not quite that simple. There are many factors that lowers the chances even more. Firstly, I’m always leaving my bike out for short duration of time. Like 5 mins max and usually within my sight. So the odds of it getting stolen goes down significantly. Secondly there’s always foot traffic, which creates a sense of shared guardianship. Third, my bike is fixed gear with no brakes or straps. A lot of people don’t know how to ride fixed, especially with no brakes and no foot retention. Yes, a lot of people do know how to ride without foot retention, but those would be a very skilled rider and someone who’s an enthusiast. Very unlikely those people will go around looking to steal bikes. And even if my bike was to be stolen, my bike is so unique and I know so many people in the bike community, I have high chances of finding it back. Even with all that, it’s true the chances is never zero, but it’s a very minimal risk and the benefit of time I save from not having to lock my bike every time outweighs it for me. The longest I’ve left my bike outside unattended was in downtown manhattan where I left it for over 2 and half hours. You just have to leave it somewhere where it doesn’t stand out. People’s attention span is so small they won’t even notice your bike half the time.

That’s an excellent question. If you’re considering bike deliveries for a significant portion of your income, you might find it challenging. It really depends on your location and the time of day. In some areas, it can be tough just to get online and start taking orders. I deliver around Queens, where the rides are a bit longer compared to Manhattan. Delivering in the city would mean an hour-long train ride each way, which isn’t practical, especially with no guarantee of getting online. Although the pay in Manhattan is generally better, I sometimes struggle to hit $100 a day in Queens, whereas my friend in the city can average around $150 a day. While it’s possible to make a decent income, it’s not guaranteed every day. On average, you can expect to earn about $2 per mile of riding. You might wonder why I do this instead of getting a job as a messenger, which could pay more. I value the time freedom that Uber gives me. It allows me to work on my videos (this one took 15 hours to edit) and learn skills I can charge for in the future. For me, it’s like taking a step back to make a bigger step forward.

@@angels1960 I use an old GoPro Hero 8, but I wouldn't recommend it bc poor battery life. Newer models are a better choice. The video quality is similar across models, with only minor differences noticeable side by side.

I work in an area where you need to schedule time to go online, which can be tough. The most profitable times for me are late nights on Fridays and Saturdays (11 PM - 4 AM). If you’re riding a bike, it can be challenging, but it’s possible to make over $150 on good days. Some days, though, I’ve struggled to make $40. Consistency is key-showing up regularly increases your chances of hitting a good day. Good luck!
