I think this whole thing is staged and contrived the idea of Bowie sitting their with music he could neither read nor write and telling Luther what to do is laighable
Catered For Luther Vandross in the 80s 90s - He loved food he was such a sweetie always giving the cooks free tix to see him at the LA Forum and those shows were EPIC and the divine Ava Cherry and Lisa Fischer were his backing vocals
If I remember correctly Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff at the time were asked to produce the “ Young Americans “ album but were unable to for some reason… years later I am sure Kenny Gamble described the album as a masterpiece.
Thank You once again ‘nacho’ …. I keep coming back to this ! Remembering …. The recording of this track….once upon a time was there and had it ‘saved’……original . ……
An extraordinary vocal experience and arrangement.. Especially with Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack and Jewel on background vocals Beyond even Bowie's Brilliance ❤👨🎤🎸
Unbelievable piece of work. It’s Bowie at his finest. It’s just something you don’t think he could pull off. It showed me the complexed diversity of his musical chops. It was a bit funky. A bit soul. A bit gospel. With touches of experimentation and innovation. It’s a much better piece of music than it gets credit for from his total catalog. At the time it was done as a matter of fact I’d of just passed it over. About two years ago I gave it a good listen and said how could I not know this song better. It was just so far ahead of those times that now it’s just fantastic work. It’s a real testament to his greatness.
70s david bowie songs got me through my late teens and they still hit hard at 22
Thank You Luther !!!!! That man changed Bowie’s whole sound of album and was amazing !!!!!
The disco gospel - call and response of ...you got it right. Main Man in the "City of Brotherly Love" from the back, "got your back" got it?
