    How did you support the engine? When you lowered it did you support it through the exhaust manifold instead? Since it does have a plastic oil pan.

    • @zvautobuild8832
      @zvautobuild8832 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The exhaust manifolds and the engine sump are completely straight. So I used a hydraulic table (which we use to remove Porsche engines) and supported and lowered it with that. Yes the sump is plastic, but with everything being completely flat, the weight is shared with all the other parts. The whole load is not placed on the sump only

    1:40... "once the head surface has reached the indentations, throw the head away" -Did you know that a CYLINDER HEAD REPAIR SHOP can actually surface weld aluminum back onto the deck to save any cylinder head? just google image search: "cylinder head welded surface" and it will make more sense. But it may be more cost effective to buy new...

    • @zvautobuild8832
      @zvautobuild8832 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right, but for the cost of a head + the welding + the machine shop, especially one that can get the correct amount of combustion volume, is not cheap. At that point it's cheaper to buy another engine. That's why I say to avoid buying used heads that have reached beyond minimal thickness

      Did the engine jump out of timing?? I would also inspect the chain slides (some crack due to the agressive chain slap) If it none if this happened then you should be ok. you probably don't have to change you camshaft adjuster, just replace the bolts one at a time. Use locktight too

    • @zvautobuild8832

      The chances of anything going wrong is minimum. the worst that could happen is your positive terminal at the distribution block earthing out. But these cars have a very good electrical system so if that were to happen you will blow the big main fuse and the car will not start.

  • @gabrielmorales9752
    @gabrielmorales9752 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Very, very good video! I am going to attempt this on mine. I have a 991.1 generation so it's a different engine, but mostly everything else looks to be the same. I am NOT yet seeing smoke in my exhaust and I checked the plastic AOS tube leading into the manifold it is still dry, BUT I am seeing about 1-2 drops of oil every drive and when I park overnight. I looked under the car and I see a small oil leak from the AOS tubing where it meets the AOS. Do you think it's time to change it all ? I see in your video you had to partially drop the engine, so maybe this is a good time to change the 10 yr/old engine mounts too.

    • @zvautobuild8832
      @zvautobuild8832 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe start with the turbo oil return line, they seem to clog up sometimes, start by cleaning it out, same with the turbo sump. Oil separator blow a lot of smoke when they fail so unless it's doing that then don't stress on doing all this work when you probably don't need it. Good luck mate

    • @gabrielmorales9752
      @gabrielmorales9752 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, thank you for the reply! What I mean to clarify in my post is that I have the version of Carrera that dos not have a turbocharger. It’s the 991.1 generation which was naturally aspirated,. The AOS exists also, but it just returns back to the engine I believe.

    instead of a permanent fix, would a simple sanding of the terminal and the post, without messing with the distribution block inside the car, be a good temporary solution? That temporary fix could be done in 30 minutes or less. No need for a machine to create a thread on the post, etc.

    • @zvautobuild8832
      @zvautobuild8832 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure can, it's very tight there so if you can get your hand in to sand it then go for it. I give this permanent solution due to the fact that I hate doing the same job more than once (especially if it's my own car) I figured most people would feel the same.
