Scald carries it quite well but not fully scald sets are scary but ive seen it not use scald and still be a threat.

I think the only thing it needs is raising the accuracy to 100% because the risk of having your HP cut in half by a ground type is already huge.

Honestly dark type always felt pretty overpowered. Like it just seemed like one of the few single stand you could just settle for and be fine. Literally no immunities (not even with an ability), not very many resistances (unlike with bug and grass, the later having an ability immunity anyways), a bunch of completely non comical moves that are plenty strong.

Dark type being designed simply to be immune to Psychic type hurt it more than anything. When it game out: all dark types were Special attacks, including stuff that was meant to be physical. The only reason psychic typing was "broken" was because Mewtwo and Alakazam had broken base stats, because Psychic was only offensively strong again 2 types. From Gen 2 Fighting was offensively strong against FIVE types, while only being weak to two. For the first few generations, Dark type was gimmicky and Normal was actually more busted than Psychic was (as in every dark type move had bad damage, and was situational; at least Normal type moves like Body Slam, Facade, Return, etc. had a point, more Normals around to STAB from them and damage was still solid even if that Normal moves gimmick didn't stick. Most Dark type pokemon in the early gens, Sans Houndoom, Umbreon, and Absol, have little going for them other than a type immunity? Normal, Ghost, Flying, and Ground have immunites that come packaged with their abilities already. Dark's immunity to psychic feels, tacked on, and having a "counter" to one type makes it more of a forced burden on a party like an HM mule than a party member.

During the month of December 2022, this ugly ostrich dominated UU to the point of the tier becoming unplayable during its first weeks. When it was finally banned to UUBL, the tier started actually being playable and competitive, but by then it had long cemented itself as my least favorite Pokemon of all time. Hearing the tale of its continued fall from grace is music to my ears.

It's also crazy that despite HJK having found use before, it's really only because users lack other strong fighting moves. This is seen for stuff like Mienshao running CC once it recieved it, and MLop running CC over HJK in natdex

Wo-Chien and Virizion got the Meganium treatment, being mons that are supposed to be bulky, yet at the same time are also supposed to be mixed attackers, which results in a stat distribution nightmare. At least with Virizion, it has the Fighting-type and Sacred Sword to justify investing into Attack, but what is Wo-Chien's excuse? It's literally a snail. For Virizion, you'd probably need to also buff the other three members of the quartet as well, because Game Freak loves their patterns. In this case, the buff would be to give all the Swords of Justice new Hidden Abilities. Terrakion would get Reckless + access to Head Smash, Cobalion would get Intimidate, and Keldeo would get Competitive (I _would_ say Battle Bond into Resolute form, but that's probably way too complex of a thing to expect from a 4 Gen old mon). Then, Virizion would get Sharpness to buff its main STAB moves in Leaf Blade and Sacred Sword, making them both into spammable 135 bp attacks that could boosted further by Swords Dance. A more minor buff would be to swap its Defense and Sp. Atk; though Game Freak has never done such a stat swap in the past, so hopes aren't exactly high for that. For Tapu Bulu, just give it Grassy Glide _and_ Spirit Break. It probably won't overtake Rillaboom in VGC, but in Singles it would gain a clear niche over the grass starter as a harder hitting Grassy Glide sweeper with more longevity due to also having access to the Bulk Up + Horn Leech combo. Spirit Break gives it a clear answer to the many Dragon types running around OU, which Rillaboom can have trouble dealing with. Wo-Chien is an easy fix. Remember Ting-Lu's 110/55 Attack/Sp. Atk split? So we take 30 points from its Attack, and move it over to its Sp. Atk - going from 95 Sp. Atk to 125 Sp. Atk. Its Knock Off is weaker now? My bad, I forgot that Wo-Chien was a Knock Off sweeper akin to Weavile. Hold up, I just got word from the analysis pages; it doesn't use Knock Off for damage! Who'da thunk? Foul Play, its next most commonly run physical move, doesn't even use its Attack stat, and neither does the bronze medalist Body Press. And in return, now it can actually threaten opponents with 125 base Sp. Atk Leaf Storms and soak up more HP with its stronger Giga Drains. Plus, if you're feeling awfully toxic, Trick Room + Dark Pulse is now more viable of an option. I'd even say to make its Attack/Sp. Atk split into 45/135 and to give it access to Sleep Powder so it could reign terror on VGC, but we'll just take baby steps for now.

I agree, make it a clone of _High_ Jump Kick or Axe Kick, _or,_ if they need to keep it as a Jump Kick clone for whatever reason, change it and Jump Kick to have lower risks. Give them 100% accuracy and only 25% HP recoil on miss (if there's a user with lowered accuracy, opponent with evasion, or an immunity), or make them take recoil _only_ when an immune Pokemon is targeted. For Jump Kick vs HJK, their original Japanese names are "Drop Kick" and "Jumping Knee Kick" respectively - HJK's English descriptions even keep the fact that it is a knee kick. A Dropkick puts you in a position to recover easier and is used closer to the floor due to being aimed at the opponent's midsection, while a Knee kick is usually aimed at the opponent's head (so puts the user in a more precarious position) and can cause quite a stumble if its momentum isn't stopped by the target. From that alone, it just makes sense for Jump Kick and its clones to be safer alternatives even with game balance put aside. Instead of just being variants that trade a Life Orb's worth of damage for _5% accuracy._
