This video contains a guide for the installation of the Shadefix shadecloth fixing system. Shadefix is Australian made and owned and available at major hardware stores throughout Australia including Bunnings, selected Mitre 10 outlets and hardware stores.
Shadefix is the most versatile Shadecloth fastening system on the market today. Shadefix is ideal for use on timber or metal frames. Shadefix Galvanized Metal Strips are 600mm long and are simply nailed, screwed or riveted continuously to the perimeter of a frame or pergola and the Shadecloth fits onto the metal prongs and can be adjusted to the desired tension. Shadefix enables the Shadecloth to be removed or replaced if required. Shadecloth can span up to 3 metres with the Shadefix fastening system. Shadefix Galvanized Metal Strips can be used on their own or can be used with the PVC "Paintable" Cover Strips and Corners for a neat professional appearance.

A cheap alternative to this might be carpet tack strip, perhaps treated w a durable varnish first (typically constructed of wood in US)? The tacks are mean, so after mounting, perhaps a non-tack wood strip tapped into place over the cloth.
Can't get them at Bunnings.
What nail size and type is used?
The "UV stabilised plastic just melts and warps and comes off on 45-50 degree days, maybe Ok in cooler climates, no good in upper SA.

iv just nailed it on to the timber but the metal is not even between the nails
Just used this product, quality of the hooks wasn't great given the price - half were missing or blunt. Ended up having to use standard shadecloth fixings to make sure it was secure. Clever idea, but wouldn't recommend this product.
