Choose Kindness a Poem
มุมมอง 5510 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Doncaster Choose Kindness movement seeks to inspire the people of the city to opt for kindness in their everyday lives. This poetry film was amazingly wirtten and performed by Philippa Zawe, filmed by Wayne Sables and I edited the footage into a film the slows down life to help us focus on the little things.

It is a positive film, I like it. Thank you!
Raj and Phillipa! Beautiful x
There is an invisible tragic element connected to the Ferrybridge cooling Towers that it seems no one ever mentions anymore. When they began the demolition of Ferrybridge power station it was on the news and probably in the papers too. Mum would mention it whenever we talked, giving me updates. It did play on her mind each time it was in the news that they had brought another of the towers down. This is because they mentioned that there was a collapse of 3 of the cooling towers back in 1965 and that luckily there were no deaths resulting from the collapsing towers, but sadly at no point did they ever mention the deaths of any of the scaffolders brought in to help with the rebuilding of the towers. One of which was my mum's husband, my brother and I's dad. It was down right shameful what mum was put through after dad's death. The web of deceit & lies to hide the truth of who was to blame. Dad was the one pointing out the safety issues & was ignored. Time is money & safety would slow job down. He paid the price with his life.
I really enjoyed watching that and Kelly was right , New Beginnings is a happy place to be . It's probably one of my happiest places I've been . It's like home, a family , a community . I think the Recovery game part was captured really well too. You'll need a part two of the Structured Day Programme 😀 that was amazing , 6 months of daily rehab . While there it not only helped with relapse prevention, it helped with CBT and MH . I really can't praise Aspire and New Beginnings enough . We do recover 💜
Would love to do a follow up film that also looks at drug policy whilst interviewing more people who have worked hard for their recovery and continue to do so. Just need some funding!😂
I went though a lot with the Drink vodka I spent first week in hospital. Then 3 weeks in new beginnings what a fantastic place every one in there going though what I was felt so at home there . When I left I was a giant people in the street WOW 👌 Look at you 😊❤
I went to aspire to seek help around 5 years ago, after talking they suggested NA meetings might have been best route for me, sat here now watching this with over 3 years clean. Best thing I ever did contacting aspire! Keep up the great work everyone ❤️
Very good and inspiring. Nice work done. Congratulations to Aspire & New Beginnings.
Good work Rajnish 🙏

Good work Raj
‘These sorts of stories won’t happen again, so it’s important to hold onto them’ What a poignant quote to close the film with, you should archive this film, this story, with the Yorkshire Film Archive, so in 20, 50, 100 years time this story will be a moving legacy of the people, place and identity of Ferrybridge and its connection to the power station.
What a fantastic privilege to be part of the Yorkshire film archive legacy. Would love to be a part of it!
Just wonderful and uplifting! :) Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I grew up in Knottla and always marvelled at the power station towers and amazing fete of civil mechanical/electrical engineering. I was also lucky enough to work on the turbines on two separate outages back before it was privatised. When we were younger we would swim under the old A1 bride and sometimes feel the warm water that was discharged from the station. Great memories, can't wait to see the finished film.
Glad your memories are good ones. There is an invisible tragic element connected to the Ferrybridge cooling Towers that it seems no one ever mentions. The councils should be repairing streets, paths, roads they get millions from tax payers to do so and nothing been done so wheres THAT money going....clearly not on these highways and byways...Iraq looks better, councils should be ashamed,
I miss Doncaster so much
From Thorne and Moorends, the council do not care about Thorne. They want the money. But people should always have pride no matter what.

Beautiful ethics. Sadly, the lady is correct in many ways, but not ALL younger folk look through the elderly as if they aren't there. Thorne, when you discect it, is a nice little place. It's always felt safe to me. I've been away, had jobs in other places, occasionally disliked the way it has gone in the past few decades, but I always come back because it's my home and I feel close to it. It's where my family are and while many of my friends moved away, I stick with the town. It is essentially a good place with a population which is mainly very decent.
